Living With an Unruptured Brain Aneurysm - My Story Week 9 Angiogram 2 and Results

  • This week I had my second Angiogram performed as well as prepared for potential pipeline embolization for what I thought was an unruptured fusiform cerebral aneurysm. After meeting with the Neurologist and going over all of my images from the various scans I had had performed, I was told that I actually had a dissecting brain aneurysm, which not only is extremely rare (only .5-1% of all aneurysms are this type) but my body had actually healed itself on its own (only 1-2% survive)! Thankfully I did not require surgery am feel extremely thankful that I am a survivor! Thx so much for sharing your story. I’m 2 years since a Giant 33mm unruptured aneurysm. They did coiling and it saved my life. Mine is right side post communicating artery between the thalamus and hypothalamus. I’ve had about 5 angiograms. Still wrestling with fatigue and relearning some social skills and dealing with short temper. God willing it looks like I’ll be able to return to work. I’m an international airline pilot. All my doctors are very confident of my recovery and abilities to get back into cockpit. Would love to share other others issues and see if any of yours are similar. Looking now for a post aneurysm support group.

I have had 2 angiograms under sedation the first time and the 2nd one I watched the whole thing and not happy about it, had my aneurysm clipped in 2010. Glad you survived your bleed...

Thank you Carol! I didn't actually have a full on bleed but mine is very rare. As a fellow survivor, if you are on Facebook, I encourage you to join our private online community of other survivors: facebook.com/groups/aneurysmavm/. Have a Happy Thankgiving!

@@melissachalmersJNF Hi Melissa, I leave in Fort Wort, TX, today I found your videos, 4 weeks ago after many months of many symptoms just like yours( sinus infections, ear infections, tinitus, headaches, migraines and also suffering migraines for many months, a visit to the ENT, 1 visit to the ER with a bad migraine etc... finally after many months, the neurologist order a CAT scan with contrast and the results came that I have a small aneurism. I have had the first angiogram on June 24 to see the size and shape of my aneurism. After the results, the doctor was able to thankfully treat the Aneurism with another Cerebral Angiogram using Coils. I am in recovery now doing well and felling better. I had just couple light headaches.
I am very thankful that the aneurism was discovered before a rupture.
I feel so much related to you when I started to watch your videos today.
The way you was feeling a few years ago, that is exactly how I was feeling 4 weeks ago. I am so happy that you are doing well, and that you are able to share with other people your videos and ideas about foundations and groups. Thank you.

Did you go to the hospital after your car accident ? Did you have any symptoms (headache, neck pain ) after the car accident ?

I didn't, actually. I had severe whiplash and had to wear a brace around my neck for 6 months. I went to physical therapy.

I was read that honey can heal the veins. I like to drink a ginger tea(ginger thins your blood) let it cool then add at least a teaspoon of honey. You need to let it cool otherwise the heat will cook the honey and ruin it. Raw honey is the good honey.
