I’ve just stumbled across your channel. The shortcuts playlist is fantastic, Stephen! Now subscribed! Here’s a future request - a shortcut that creates a summary of any podcast. I suspect that might involve using ChatGPT to summarise the automated transcripts that Apple Podcasts now produce?

What i need is a morning automation which suggests me to go to a certain work location based on traffic. So let's say 3 locations, go to location 1 but if driving distance is more than 1 hour... go to location 2 or 3 but only if driving to location 3 is shorter than 1.5 hours. So locations all have different distances but one of them can have heavy traffic.

REQUEST: could you look into a possible shortcut/automation that turns on my ‘work’ focus mode whenever there is an entry in a specific calendar. I’m a teacher and i want the work-focus on when I’m teaching but I want the personal-focus on when there is no class planned in my work-calendar. @beardfm - Did you get your Regular Expression question answered? I don't see that, but the expression below, with X being the number of characters to skip and Y being the number of characters to capture, should enable you to iterate through the 4k chunks.

i’ve tried a few different shortcuts for grabbing text from an image and adding an event to a calendar. but none of them worked properly. any tips with that?

You can create events in a Shortcut cased on text. Can you send me the kind of format those emails are in and I'll work on it?
Please do how to do always on display schedule shortcut like in between aod on during day time like 9 to 9pm
Hey! You can create an Automation for time of day, say 9am, and then add one action: Always On Display: On. Then create a second one for 9pm which turns it off!
@@beardfm always on display option is not showing up when i am trying to set up automation at a specific time.. But i am able to set up aod during charging.. Automation😅🥲 but can't schedule it.. It would be nice if you can make a TH-cam short about how to make aod as schedule
For the summarize podcast gpt, is there any way to get the transcript and then save it in a doc file (pdf, txt etc) and have that uploaded to chatgpt?
Good suggestion, but the Shortcut actions don’t allow you to upload documents to ChatGPT, you only get text interaction
I have a couple long emails and documents. I have tried that clearly hit the limit of what ChatGPT cons summarize. I guess I will have to be buying the full version if I want those summarized.
Any suggestions on how to modify your code to perhaps chop up the text? Not sure if this would work because it’s unclear how that would divide the meaning.

@@beardfm Can’t see a good way … as it would cause issues in summarizing midway through a point when you split … have to write some fancy code to split by paragraphs, but only paragraphs that add up to the word maximum.

Are you running on a Mac? Some of the web-based / article actions don’t run well there. Try on an iPad or iPhone

Do I need to run morning shortcuts every day, or does the system run it automatically?
If you schedule an automation by time it will run every day (or on whatever days you choose) automatically.

I tried the “Morning Text Message” but it didn’t work because I’m “not logged in the app”, so I added first command to open me the app. Which again didn’t work, unless I unlocked my phone, even though I have all “run without asking” stuff allowed. Can you help me?

I try to automate incoming email from specific email address and it’s not triggering. Does the shortcut work with iOS Outlook app? And with ChatGPT 3.5?
GPT 3.5 yes, but unfortunately it only works with the stock mail app. You could add that account to the phone just for receiving the mail, but turn off all notifications for the stock mail app and just leave it in the App Library
I finally figured it out, it only worked with Apple Stocked mail app.

You don't! The action works built-in to Shortcuts, no third party app needed
Can there be a shortcut that when i get a business call it can access my microphone, if i confirm an appointment it automatically creates the appointment in my calendar?
At the moment Shortcuts can't "hear" or transcribe a call
I use the summarize article gpt shortcut. I was certain I got it from this video but now I don’t see it. Did you remove it? Also, I came back to this video because each time I run the shortcut in my share sheet, it gives the always allow option but I have to do always allow each time I’m reading a new article on a web page in safari. These shortcuts videos are great but do you not worry that giving a lot of information of one’s self over to an AI a bit concerning
U act like companies arent already harvesting our data analytics and using it to push targeted ads, content suggestions, and other such things on us. At this point, ive just accepted that my data is out there, and i am in no way gonna have any control over it. I can ask apps not to track me, i can try every limiter on it in the book, but some data is still out there in some corner of the web. Id rather not think about it and just enjoy my tech experience.
It's one of the reason I like using the Shortcuts actions here, the only data being sent is the text in the prompt I'm creating.

For the podcast transcript issue - did you say you can use Regex on your iphone (Text - then Match Text?) --
