HIGH PROTEIN ICE CREAM RECIPE
Ingredients:
2 cups Greek yogurt, strained (500g)
1/3 cup peanut butter (85g)
1/4 cup honey (60ml)
2 tsp vanilla extract
2/3 cup coconut milk (160ml)
2 oz dark chocolate, chopped (50g)
NUTRITIONAL INFO (per serving - 2 scoops):
283 calories, fat 14g, carb 22g, protein 15g
Instructions:
In a large mixing bowl, combine the strained Greek yogurt, peanut butter, honey, vanilla extract, and coconut milk. Use a mixer to blend the ingredients until smooth.
Gently fold the chopped dark chocolate into the mixture.
Cover the bowl and place it in the freezer for 45 minutes.
Remove the bowl from the freezer and stir with a rubber spatula, making sure to mix the frozen edges into the still-soft center.
Repeat this stirring process every 30-45 minutes until the ice cream reaches your desired consistency.
Serve immediately. For leftovers, let the ice cream freeze solid. Before serving again, remove from the freezer 15-20 minutes in advance to allow it to soften slightly.
Enjoy your homemade high-protein ice cream!
Nice, I use frozen banana ( slices) , strawberries, put in food processor, mix, then add a tablespoon of almond milk & tablespoon of maple syrup....mix and if needed add another tablespoon of almond milk until the consistency is creamy....it works for me.
Simple and delicious, great way to use up any leftover bananas sitting on the counter.
@@HowToCookSmarteris there something else I can use besides coconut milk? Husband is super picky!
Too much sugar, even though mostly “natural”, for me. Syrup, very sugary.
Thank you for the recipe. Is there a different milk to use other than coconut?
I like that idea! 💡 I’m lactose intolerant so frozen bananas & honey may work for me 👍
I'm definitely going to try this yummy-looking treat as is... as well as in ice cream bar form with my silicone mold, dipped in chocolate of course! Who here likes those Magnum Bars?!
Yes, the ice cream bar is the way to go, have fun!
This would be great as an ice cream sandwich tucked between 2 cookies as well 😋
So yum and healthy, easy recipe instructions. I added mixed nuts and banana. Endless option.
Ty ! I love ice cream so much but because of all the sugar and being so fattening, I know I don’t need to eat it much.
This looked and sounded so amazing ,I had all the ingredients and I have a batch in the freezer already. Lol
Dark chocolate seems to bother me sometimes so
I sprinkled a little coconut and the mixture taste amazing. Thank you again for sharing your awesome recipes !!
Thanks so much for your quick try! I just feel so good eating this type of ice cream, there's no worrying about the weird ingredients, about too much sugar and how much I'm going to eat... completely guilt-free.
This looks so amazing, and absolutely perfect with the protein factor combined with the traditional texture of ice cream! Thank you!!!
Thanks Marie, that was the idea in a nuthsell, I was happy with the results.
So simple. This guy is a genius
Thanks so much for supporting!
With temperatures already over 110 degrees F here in Arizona, thanks to Sasha, we have another option for a healthy frozen dessert on hot spring/summer days. I was just in the process of making his original chocolate frozen yogurt today*, so this will be next up on the list. I'm sure it will be a great addition to our dessert rotation! (*I had heavy cream left from making the wonderful no bake yogurt cheesecake with blueberry topping.)
as if you knew how Jeddah is
I saw it on the news here in Croatia, about the heat wave hitting Arizona, and it's not even the summer yet. I'll try to stick to no-bake recipes as much as I can during the summer months. Thanks for trying out all those recipes, you're such an awesome supporter!
Many years ago I called a recently retired colleague in the Phoenix area. She said it was 110F with only 12% humidity....in mid May ! Basements can't be excavated---but rather blasted---so houses just don't have them, however in ground pools are everywhere in more affluent areas. Go figure.
I was waiting for oat flour to be mentioned. Thanks for the recipe.
There will be more oats in upcoming videos that's for sure:)
You're right about the honey. Elle & Vire makes a greek yogurt with honey and it's almost the same when you freeze it for about an hour.
Can I use Almond milk? I don't like coconut milk at all. This looks good. Can you make other flavors please? Thank you for sharing
Hi! Yes you can, but there will be no extra fat that I add to improve the texture. For flavors, you can add mashed banana or finely diced strawberries, spices like cinnamon or nutmeg, pureed mango, fruit jam swirls, even some applesauce.
Yes I recently got obsessed with yogurt 🤤
And strained yogurt is the next level thing, I'm about to make more delicious things out of it.
Thank you! I will.make it. Looks delicious❤
Thanks Mary, happy ice cream making!
Sweet idea for this summer with my family. Thank you
Hope you'll enjoy it guys! Take care!
thanks for the very thorough demonstration of how to make this without an ice cream maker!
Thanks man, I appreciate it, hope you're enjoying your summer time!
Sasha, this is such a great idea!! I can't wait to make it!! I don't have to suffer anymore watching my family eating ice-cream that I can't have because of all the sugar & calories 🤗🤗❤
That's right Liz, we can enjoy our treat just like they do, I actually did it yesterday after our family lunch:)
I’d add some protein powder before freezing and you have a nice post workout treat
That would be a nice option too, even though it already has quite of protein.
Yum! What a lovely recipe, thank you so much, I'm going to try it.
Thanks for your feedback!
Looks great! Going to try this with some plant-based yogurt as I have a family history of Cancer so need to avoid the estrogen and possible BLV in dairy. Thanks for sharing
That would be great, have fun!
Hi Sasha, I've been thinking a lot about ice cream, what with summer on it's way for us in the UK, so a healthier version sounds like perfect timing! As ever TFS and have a great week. 👍 ❤
Hi Hazel! That's right, with this healthier option I can have some ice-cream everyday if I feel like it, but usually that's not the case:) Thanks for your kind support, have a great week too, take care!
Another winner! Thank you Sasha!
Thanks for supporting as always!
Thank you! I need to try this.
Hope you'll enjoy this recipe!
The ice cream looks delicious. If allergic to coconut cream what can I use instead of the coconut cream?
Heavy cream would be just fine.
😋 mmm well done! Can’t wait to make it and add some blueberries!
Thanks Loril! Bluberries would be a perfect match for this recipe.
Thanks for this healthy recipe 😊❤
Thanks so much for your comments!
Oh wow...this is a brilliant idea!!
Thanks so much, I really enjoyed the taste so much...
I was looking for the oatmeal but you suggested granola as
a possible topping, so there it is.
This time I decided to focus on the protein content, but adding some oat slurry would make it even more delicious, just like I did it here: th-cam.com/video/N5yxlDGsfDc/w-d-xo.html
This looks really delicious! Thank you.
Thanks for supporting as always! Take care!

This looks so good!!
Thanks so much, glad you like it!
This looks 🔥
I will give this recipe a try.
Thanks, hope this ice-cream will work for you!
@@HowToCookSmarter thanks. I hope so too 😃
You're a legend in the game man!
Thanks so much for supporting!
I freeze high fat coconut milk the add that and cherries to my blender and that's it.
Lovely!
Nice! And thanks for including nutrition info. But you did forget to say how many servings per recipe, so I'm going to have to work out my own nutrition info anyway. I will have to use a non- caloric sweetener as my husband is diabetic
You're right, I just mentioned per serving, but each serving is 2 medium ice-cream scoops.
Gee Sasha...you were reading my mind 🤔 Last night I was reviewing your videos for your ice cream recipes!! Going to watch your frozen yogurt now...I'm on a roll 😅
That's right, we all need something to cool down on hot days, the summer is not even started yet but we gotta be prepared:)
I bet it would work well with Icelandic yougurt called skyr which is also very high in protein but not as sweet (to me at least) as greek yougurt. This way you can adjust sweetneas to your taste 🍨🍦
Sure, that would be a nice option too.
Can I replace the coconut milk? I don’t like the flavor of it 😢
Sure, you can use heavy cream too.
Nice! What can I use instead of honey as I am type 2 diabetic.
.thanks
Sugar Free Maple syrup. It's definitely not as thick. Maybe use less, because it is sweet.
Allulose is most accurate and versatile (it can even be caramelized!) but maltitol syrup also works.
I have glassware that match that ice cream bowl! Vintage Anchor Hocking "Early American Presscut"
It looks AMAZING!
Thanks Gina!
A nice trick if you want to avoid having to clean so many measuring cup is to use a single bowl and measure the ingredients by weight.
You're right, thanks for the tip.
Thanks for sharing.
I will definitely try making it. I really enjoy your recipes.
Can we use coconut yogurt instead of Creek yogurt ( can't do dairy)
You're so welcome, glad you enjoy the recipes! I think using coconut yogurt would be fine too.
Thank you . I will replace the peanut butter.
Sure, have fun!
Looks great!
Thanks!
Thank you.
Very welcome!
Looks yummy!!!❤
Thanks, hope you'll give it a try!
What a treat! 😊🤤
It tastes so good...
Wow looks unique recipe 😊
Thanks so much for your feedback!
Thank you for sharing, if someone has a nut allergy is there an alternative for the peanut butter?
Tahini, Sunflower seed butter, Coconut butter, Soy nut butter, Granola butter or go the unhealthy route, Biscoff Spread (cookie butter)
@@mycodingchannel9690 thank you 👊
Thanks ❤❤❤❤❤❤
You're so welcome!
Probacu ovo definitivno! Volim maslac od kikirikija :)
Ja ga obožavam, izbjegavam slatkiše i tradicionalne kolače, ali kikiriki maslac rijetko koji dan preskočim:) Pozz
Great recipe I am definitley going to try it do you have a suggestion for a substitute for honey? I am keto and don't use honey I have a keto maple syrup but don't want a dominant maple taste
Thanks....Julianna NC
Hi Julianna, glad you like the recipe, well I think you can use your keto maple syrup with no worries, I think it won't overpower the other ingredients, I find it quite balanced, I can taste the peanut butter and coconut milk too.
I've been playing around with making milk using lima bean curd and made something of an ice cream with it a few weeks ago. Not ready to call it a recipe yet. But, I think I may have something here.
That's right, you can make a homemade ice cream in so many different ways, using different ingredients to suit your taste and your needs. Keep testing!
@@HowToCookSmarter It seems to work best with the "giant" or "gigante" version of them and lightly roasting them in an oven on a baking sheet until there's a subtle brown hue to the skins before soaking definitely helps. Also, I tried adding a roux made from hemp oil to give it some fat and that really smoothed it out. Having said as much it still needs work. But, it is very, very creamy.
Can we substitute coconut milk with dairy milk?
I would rather use heavy cream
Zrnati sir is killing me! 😄
Zrnati sir is the best! Pozz!
@@HowToCookSmarter Yes it is.
I would love to try coffee ice cream but am unsure which way to get the coffee flavour into the mixture…… any help please?❤
Hi! What about adding some instant coffee granules into the mixture?
Can we use low fat milk instead of coconut milk? Or just fresh milk?
Not really, it would just thin up the mixture, not really give the extra creaminess.
I've been making shakes from a cup of milk, a banana and some blueberries. Probably not real healthy, originally was putting frozen kale into it but don't always have the space. Blended of course.
This is an approximation of something off of Bergs channel. I just got lazy with it when I couldn't find room for kale, ha. Still, milk naner and berries, sounds okay to me.
If you make smoothies of any kind I think you're doing just good, sometimes we all need to change it up a bit and give it a break on greens or something super healthy.
Wt is Greek yoghurt...is it regular curd
That's right, it's creamy yogurt
I have fat-free greek yogurt so I hope it'll still be good 😮🎉
It probably won't, you need fat to put the "cream" in "ice cream", or else you just end up with a popsicle. 👀
Drain it really well, get as much water out of it as possible, and then add extra peanut/nut butter to compensate.
@vlc-cosplayer Thanks, I was hoping full fat coconut milk would make up for it...we'll see 🤷♀️
It might turn out less creamy, but it's definitely worth trying.
Can i use skyr instead of greek yoghurt, or is the small amount of fat in greek yoghurt important?
Might be a bit difference, but still it will work.
How many servings per recipe?
Hi, it's 6 servings of 2 scoops each.
will it still turn out like ice cream if i leave out the peanut butter?
Sure, but it lower the protein content of the ice-cream.
Can I use a blender? I don't have the mixer like in the video
I would rather use a whisk, just to keep the strained Greek yogurt that creamy.
@@HowToCookSmarterthank you❤
Allulose instead of honey?
That might work too, never used allulose before...
Question: isn't the liquid that's drained from the yogurt whey? I thought whey had protein. 🤷♀️😮
It does have some % of protein, but it's being strained because of the structure.
whats the nutrition facts of this yummy thing?
It's in the descrption below.
Hi Sasha, do you have any low-carb recipe/ideas for desserts?
Hi, well most of my recipes are not high in sugar, but I do use oats in most of them, so they come with the amount of carbs you probably don't prefer, so if you're not looking for keto recipes, I suggest you try subbing my oat flour with almond flour in 1:1 ratio, maybe this could work for you.
Is it non fat greek yoghurt?
In this video I use 2% fat Greek yogurt.
What kind of coconut milk?
I use full fat coconut milk all the time.
Thank you 😊
what actually are proteins in this 🤔
Greek yogurt and pb
ANYBODY TRIED IT???😮 HOW DID IT COME OUT???😮😮😮
His recipes are amazing usually so go for it
❤
❤❤😮😮❤❤😊😊
😊🇮🇶👍🌺
I hate coconut
That's a Cool refreshing ice cream. Speaking in general, making your own all natural homemade healthy ice cream is better to eat than eating store bought ice cream; It has fake Gmo preservative ingriedients yuck.
It's true, ice-cream is one of the most processed foods you can find out there, so homemade is no brainer.
Greek yogurt sucks!
Lecker!
Wow looks delicious I'm definitely gonna try this. Thank you ♥️
Thanks for your feedback, hope you'll enjoy it!
