The idea of requiring a constant internet connection for ANYTHING needs to die. It's pointless and hurts everybody, because the business loses money as a result of infringing on the consumer's basic convenience for no good reason. It's a shame because those Pro controllers look dope af, but a wifi connection for a peripheral?? Nope, deal broken.
The thumb rest on the Quest Pro's controllers are actually pressure sensors that can be used as a trackpad similar to the Index. They can sense up to 6 Newtons of force and are apparently pretty accurate
Edit: thrillseeker talked about the quality of the lenses differ among different display manufacturers for Quest Pro in his review. you're the only vr youtuber talked about display manufacturer difference. I've read about it back in 2020 for quest 2 and recently saw evidence that different display manufacturers quality differ on Quest Pro as well. Thanks for talking about it. it's mind boggling that other bigger VR youtubers didn't talk about it and they didn't do a deeper research.
I saw a reddit post from a guy who had 2 Quest Pros and said the difference in 3D depth between them was like night and day. It's a pretty major thing.

Loved the long form review format this time. The Meta Quest Pro deserved as much. The Cons were painfully true, but the positive sides of the Quest Pro make me excited for the Quest 3 Launch slated for next fall. One year will fly by and this will all be but a memory in the review mirror as we use the new Quest 3 with higher visual fidelity than ever before, and the Quest Pro as you mentioned is a steppingstone to getting there.

Me too, but I'm a little nervous about it because they're dropping the quest 3 next year. Do you think it would be a better investment to wait or just get it now?
@@Velocitxy2 definitely not. the graphics and fov is better. you can set the resolution to 2072 without it losing frame rate. also, let me remind you of the built it full body tracking coming soon.
Received my Pro controllers (separately pre-ordered back in August, rec'd 12/6/2022). Paired with Q2 using the iOS App instructions, which de-pairs your regular Q2 controllers. Went through what looked like 3 rounds of controller firmware updates. Haptics is about 25% stronger than the Q2 feels. Tested in Beat Saber, Vermillion, VRFishing, Drunkn Bar Fight, In Death Unchained, Vader Immortal, Blade and Sorcery, Holofit, Angry Birds VR, Eleven Table Tennis, Trombone Champ, Horizon Workspaces. Virtual controller image is accurate and clear in HUD. In Beat Saber, controllers now track accurately behind your back, between your legs, behind your head, etc. After 2 hours of various play, controller power levels are still at 95% on both controllers. Cons: oddly harder to set down a/the controller(s) when you don't need the controllers (such as in Holofit on BT machine mode, or in VRFishing when you only need 1 controller (the Q2 usually just sits upside-down on its sensor ring). With only the wrist strap, it feels much less secure using hit/strike/boxing games than a knuckle strap - def needs one for those. And then there's those removable stylus tips we don't use yet and need the wrist straps removed to insert them. Came with a short USB-C to USB-C 6-inch cord, and the Compact Charging Dock, with a permanently attached USB-C cable. Attempted using the Charging dock with lots of other USB-C power sources and it really stubbornly refused to charge on anything but the 45W Meta supplied wall-wort. Interesting. Worth it at $300USD? Really, REALLY depends what you're doing with your controllers. I didn't see a perceivable difference for painting, boxing, exercise movement. It's slightly less glitchy on Angry Birds/In Death Unchained/archery. Fishing felt moderately more realistic with the stronger haptics. Saber games were nice not to lose tracking on the sides or behind the back twirling and such. Allows weirder attacks like under leg swipes, or reversal spin attacks.
Entertaining video, thanks! I agree with some of it, but overall I’m loving the Quest Pro compared to the quest 2. I had the forehead pain on the first day after 3hrs, but the following days it was gone. The back part should fit the crown of your head like a suction cup, and the front part should do the same. Only tight enough to stay snug on the head. Feels way more balanced and comfortable though. Better clarity means more immersion like you were saying, so realistic games really feels like you’re there. Controllers are amazing, and more responsive. I think they require a little more light in the room for them to function perfectly, but really can tell a difference. The setup and joining the meta horizon and workspace feel very smooth and professional (user friendly). Reminds me of the Nintendo Wi sound effects and cartoon vibes. This is just the beginning of an amazing fun filled future with this headset. Looking forward to more games that can really max out its potential. I think Red Matter 2 is the only game that does this so far.
Bro what is happening with the intro XD I can’t stop laughing hahahahha 😂😂 that why I watch YOUR videos because it’s too funny. It’s 2AM and I can’t stop laughing 😂😂(I hope I wake no one up)
Facebook could have paid me $50 million dollars and I would have told them that this was a horrible idea, and then they could have saved $15 billion dollars!!!
On the discomfort of the quest pro: this is heavily dependent on head shape and hair-style / length. The variability of this headset to become more or less comfortable, due to needing to be tighter to not move, is massive. Bald head or pointy tail and it can sometimes be kinda slippery, too much hair and it slides side to side. Also, something I learned through longterm use of the quest 2 elite strap, the height of the back pad on your head is very important. Generally the least painful position for extended periods of time, is where the side straps are somewhat pushing on the tops of your ear. This leaves the back of the headset just about the pressure points of your neck, but high enough to even out the pressure on your forehead.
The "enterprise" tag is meant to indicate to the average consumer: "we are expecting to cash in on selling these to huge business, and are priced accordingly. you will be disappointed as a gamer/social user." Just saying. "Pro" actually meant "Profession-Based" this time around...LOL. Imagine if they wouldve left that depth sensor in....the company parties wouldve been lit while looking thru everyone's clothes!! But yeah.....dont buy stuff they clearly mark for businesses....i cant say I have much sympathy on this one. Didnt really expect much besides them trying to make it more expensive and maybe harder to damage? Dont forget how much better Quest 2 has gotten with updates and third party peripherals too tho...so idk? I like that you can buy the controllers....it might be worth it if they work with Quest 3 and you can just buy the headset solo. Prices be going up too. The different-manufacturer-thing is wild tho. Whew....who knows how much this happens in life and we have no clue??
I bought my quest in that perfect time after the recall but before it was owned by meta. Which means I got a free face cover, 256GB, and for 100$ less, my headset, charger, and controllers still have the oculus symbol instead of the meta symbol which makes it an artifact
Interesting how it's mentioned that wearing it is headache inducing and eye straining and yet finishes off by saying it'll replace his quest 2. Makes me wonder how much of a headache it is. 🤔
No blue light exposure from devices is a complete and utter load of shite. You get hundreds of times of the blue light when you step outside than any device could ever give you. Its a marketing gimmick
Blue light does not cause permanent eye damage unless the displays are as bright as the sun... Also if you disconnect from any/all the wifi points by forgetting them but keep the wifi toggle on you can use the controllers without wi-fi.

Hip loving watching your descent into madness. Hell is a google cardboard duct taped to your head with only access to Facebook...and everyone's moms and nans and sisters and pets have blocked you.
I actually returned mine a few days ago. It's just not more than 1000 USD of upgrades over the Q2 in my opinion. Also, have fun playing games where you need to have a very steady hand. Those wicked great new controllers generate input noise when perfectly still which translates to jitter for which you can not humanly compensate.
you would run your own wifi router at an expo, really common practice and you can hide it from public view. It doesn't need to be connected to the internet if meta didn't completely ape this decision.
Honestly I don't think the Quest Pro is a bad headset by any means. HOWEVER... They seriously rushed the launch, and it clearly wasn't finished. They were just trying to push it out as soon as possible to get the money wagon rolling again.
Yeah the migranes are because you put it on too tight, Ive had the pro for a while now and I had massive headaches after using it for an hour or two, that is until I made the straps slightly less tight. Also the mixed reality being so dogshit is because with the five cameras on the headset, two of them are used for stability (the side ones, which were formerly on the top) two are used for seeing and depth without color, and the middle one is used for putting it over the image. Interesting visual effect I found is covering the middle cam with your finger with make it black and white, and covering the other two cameras on the front will give you a weird color fill in a black area with no depth perception. As for the headstrap you just fucked up, but the mixed reality isnt different from the quest 2 besides the fact you can cover the front and have little to no issues. people have bought it because its faster, better, brighter, and more saturated and not because they wanna work with it, that's just a meta marketing issue. Edit, not to mention the fact that the controllers and handtracking has improved more that you know, you had to stick your controllers in a certain range to use them, and your hands directly in front of you, they fixed all these issues. All of your complaints are focused toward a mistake you made and a meta marketing mistake, this review is unfair. Edit 2, there's a guide to fix your headset fit, stop trying to pretend like theres nothing you can do Edit 3, the setting where your headset will wake up at certain times and downloads games based off that is a natural feature, on both quest 2 and pro, and is on by default
Would love to see some game reviews such as the upcoming walking dead saints and sinners retribution. I know there will be tons if reviews but I think your opinions are the least Biased.
Seems like they should have come out with the Quest 3 first and then the Pro next year. I would have paid $800+ for pancake lens and color pass through even though the Pico 4 is cheaper. The sales of the Pro will be dismal because its upgrades are not worth $1500.
My biggest disappointment when getting the Quest 2 was that it didn't match that realistic feeling when I used a VR headset for the first time. If the quest 3 manages to replicate that feeling like GetHip claims that the pro does, I'll probably stick with it for the rest of eternity.
I really like my pro. Pancake lenses are amazing. Controllers much improved. Hybrid FBT is night and day better in VRC by an immeasurable amount. I find it comfortable enough despite the complaints. I think alot of the people complaining just don't like how expensive it is which I understand.

There are probably people out there that thought smartphones were going to replace computers. The reality of virtual reality is it probably going to remain great for gaming, not so great for work.
Honestly I want a pro, but I can't pay the price they are asking. Color passthrough alone sounds cool and I love the controllers, but again, that's out of my price range. I'll happily wait on Quest 3 hoping for a 500 dollar price point, and keep enjoying my Quest 2 for now.

I have the same sentiment, even with all the cons, after using the Quest Pro, it is replacing my Quest 2.
I’m so excited for Christmas as I’m getting the quest 2🤠
There are probably people out there that thought smartphones were going to replace computers. The reality of virtual reality is it probably going to remain great for gaming, not so great for work.
that intro hits different man
worst part is the front isnt too bad, kinda like the read player one headset. but goddam that headstrap is goofy
Once Kiwi makes some knuckles cases for the pro controllers I'm definitely wanting to pick them up
Why I'm waiting 4 years to get a vr but everyone else have it for Christmas?😢
You mentioned some people having issues with their quest pro displays? What exactly is the problem so I can check my unit.
i somehow didin't realise that quest pro came out couple months ago and i dont know how that happend
Couldn't relate more with the chimp hands problem but I'm a bit more on the orangutan side
How do you replace the strap on the Quest Pro? It’s wired into the headset from the battery.
they have lenses for a blue light glare to get rid of that blue light glare in your eyes
