Not very impressive for $700.
I don't think that's very appealing as well, but you can't have such hardware on a PC for less than 700 dollars can you? Hardware prices are very high nowadays.
I mean, 7800 XT is 500 dollars. Then you'd have to account for the extra Ray Tracing and PSSR hardware. On top of that, you need to get a Ryzen 3600 CPU, DDR5 memory, NVME 2tb drive, etc. Way more than 700 dollars that's for sure.
Hey video game companies, stop making your games so graphically intensive they need years of development and hundreds of millions of dollars to make - it's unsustainable. I have a 65 inch 4K tv and you really cant see the difference between fidelity/performance resolutions when sitting on the couch 2-3 meters away, PS5 is perfectly good for that. I don't know who this is for, maybe for people who play on monitors.
I've never bought a middle upgrade console and this isn't changing my mind in the slightest. The price is outrageous and you'll need to buy additional pieces just to be comparable to the launch ps5.
If I squint hard enough and rewatch the side-by-side comparisons multiple times, I think I can spot the differences. But then if I block half the screen and just look at plain ol' PS5 footage, it still looks great. I'm really scratching my head at the decision to advertise a disc-less console at this price, in this economy, when I could be completely ignorant of "better" performance and still enjoy these games on a console I already own.
You can't compare the difference in a TH-cam video. The streaming tech is inherently limited. The improvements are lost with compression and other issues. Especially when watching a stream of a stream. Marketing graphical improvements have been difficult for years, because you need the hardware to see it.
700$ and often more for mobile devices and handheld PC/consoles now, but people understand smaller electronics are pricier. It's crazy for a PS5 Pro with a walled garden, paid online, high game prices, being gouged on accessories etc. It's Apple-ish, they're saying "pay more for the privilege of experiencing our brand and lifestyle" rather than simply "own this product".
No they are not. It will succeed as long as the tech as their. People said same thing about Nvidia and DLSS and as far as I can see Nvidia charging 1000-1500 for their top end GPUs and selling like gangbuster not because they are much better than AMD but because DLSS and other tech is way better. All Sony has to do is show that and add more technology like Nvidia and showcase it in their games
@Patrick-tw7nr that was just because of the crypto boom - GPU prices have hit a ceiling and are starting to fall. This is such a niche product that 99% of people will not see the value in. Plus, with the disc drive and even the mount being sold separately Sony is basically sticking a middle finger in our face and saying "please buy" they've become so incredibly anti-consumer and have lost touch with reality.
@@MasDouc I see what you are say and agree with some of your points. The issue is that this system Isn’t for the average console or even current PS5 casual user. This console is clearly for a niche audience and Sony is appealing to that user while at the same time introducing the next evolution features of their hardware and software that I believe will be the main pillar of the PS6. Unfortunately Sony couldn’t make this console consumer friendly just based on what AMD is charging for the more advanced GPU in the APU along with faster memory and additional SSD storage increase would make it impossible for Sony to make this console cheap. The GPU alone is equivalent to a 7700XT to 7800XT in raster but with RT features and AI hardware not in the RDNA3 stack which means Sony paid for extra hardware and die space which we know isn’t cheap from TSMC. I think it will be a good piece of hardware but expensive and still better than PC hardware in that price range. The floor for mid range GPUs such as 4060/7700 to 7800XT/4070s are still hovering between 400-650 and haven’t seen too many sales or budging on price. The High end which is 7900XT/XTX to 4070TI S/4080S/4090 are not dropping at all and are still selling despite crypto crash. I’ll be getting one but I know it isn’t for everyone. What you will get is to me worth the price of admission but feel Sony could have put a nail in the coffin on MS current and next console and even forced Nvidia to think about dropping the price of 4060TI 16gb or 4070S to compete had Sony came in with a complete disc based Pro Model at 599.00. Sony still has time to make that change before launch but if they don’t it will be mostly because they can’t afford to

Yeah they've been messing up on the software side. The consoles are no longer hardware they sell on loss to get profit from games, now they sell insanely expensive hardware and insanely expensive games hoping to make some profit from people who still fall for it.
Man.. I told myself I had no interest in this.. I'm happy with my base PS5 that I got at launch.. and then yesterday I started thinking well... MAYBE... and then when I first started reading an article after this reveal I thought it could be kind of cool..............................and then I got to that $700 price tag.. WOW.. That's insane. If I remember correctly the PS4 pro came out at the same launch cost as the Ps4, and the base model was knocked down $100.. With shipping issues and everything I can understand why this can't do the same thing, but the sales numbers for this are going to be INSANELY low because of that price.
Because in the long term its actually cheaper, and runs/performs better than a console in the long term as well You also have access to more games on a PC then a console. PC can also do more things then a console. With services like Game Pass PC/Ultimate and PS Plus Premium (you can play PS Plus Premium on a PC with no PS4/PS5) there's no point anymore to buy a console other than a Nintendo system. Even if someone didn't want to sub to those services both Microsoft and Sony has long been putting their 1st party titles on PC now. Sure you got to drop more at the start but not at every start like a new console/mid-console.
How much do those two groups overlap? Most console gamers are not expecting the same performance as high-end gaming PCs. They want moderately high performance at an affordable price. You get diminishing returns with higher prices. This is very expensive for a limited console experience. And it can't do all the non-gaming things a $1k pc can do.
A gaming PC has a shelf life that blows consoles out the water. Besides that, I never have to change my controllers unless they break, game prices on PC are far more affordable because there are so many places to buy games, and not to mention, I pay nothing extra to access online play.
Everytime it's better this and that then talking about it's not choppy or blurry anymore. But before when they announce crap like this like the ps4 or ps5, they are like it's not blurry or choppy anymore. So what? And who's looking in the background at stuff? No way can a ps5 run 120fps. I imagine that it cant even do 60 fps at 4k for most games when its marketed as a 4k console. Sony making another big loss.
Yeah I was a lifelong Sony gamer but made the move to pc at the start of the PS5 generation and I feel like I haven’t missed anything for the most part. Most exclusives eventually get ported after a year or two to pc (unless you’re bloodborne or gravity rush)
I gave up on Sony during the start of the PS3 I came back when they did PS Now PC which nowadays is now PS Plus Premiums Tier. After owning a gaming PC for about 5 years now I don't see the point anymore in buying a PS or Xbox because I sub to Game Pass Ultimate and PS Plus Premium on my PC and if I wanted to buy the game I'm playing in those services I can because their on PC. Nintendo is the only system in my mind that make sense to buy cause you can't play their games on PC unless you illegally do it. Heck Game Pass on the Fire Stick works flawlessly for my 2 kids. I really think we're at the start of the end of gaming consoles as we know it. Mobile gaming, the Switch, the steam deck, cloud gaming has all majorly shifted the market in such an extremely fast pace then people let alone Sony even realizes.
@@CityofTomorrow_999. The pricing war. This is worse then SEGA Saturn/PS3 pricing issue. Sony basically showed their hand to Microsoft and Nintendo and boy howdy is it a bad hand. All Nintendo have to do is showcase the Switch Successor with the rumor $400 price point and they won big time. All Microsoft have to do is showcase an improved Series X at $600 price point and they beat Sony's PS5 Pro. Shoot Microsoft can do a cheap shot at Sony and say it comes with a disk drive.
I will never understand why, when it comes to single-player games, so many people still choose performance mode. As long as the game maintains a solid 30fps, I will always choose quality over performance. I have a console that supports near 4K resolutions and other great graphical features, so why would I cripple that for a game that doesn't need faster framerates to enjoy? It's totally different for multiplayer games of course, but for single player games, I want the experience to look as good as possible. 60fps removes the cinematic experience from games for me the same way it does for shows and films on TVs that have motion-smoothing features enabled.
I have no interest in competition or super fast action games. 60fps is my minimum. The effect of smooth animation is a bigger graphical improvement than a bump in resolution and assorted details. I don't watch games, I play in them. I want it to feel like I'm running around a solid "real" world. It's more immersive and more comfortable on my eyes to track objects and react to movement with smooth framerate. Even with slower games. I have similar opinions about back-paddles. They aren't for competitive 'pro gamers.' If you play any 3d real-time games, paddles are more ergonomic and logical than constantly wiggling your thumb back and forth to press interact while moving the camera.
@@chodi.foster Sure, masochism is personal preference. If you don't have a choice you can accept the pain and play through a good game anyway, as we did playing OoT on N64 in 20 FPS (or 16.66 in Europe with a botched PAL conversion lol) But if that's not bait, OP should read up on rendering instead of babbling. Frame rate is about responsiveness above all else. It's purely on the technical software side of games, and has nothing whatsoever to do with the artistic design side.
From my perspective, I already have a bunch of physical PS4 and PS5 games, which I'll be unable to play on a digital-only console unless I spend an extra $100 on a disc drive. If there was no option for a disc drive here, I'd have no way to play dozens of games I already own on the console that they're for. I could understand if the PS6 was digital only and had no backwards compatibility, but this is different.

Yeah I was a lifelong Sony gamer but made the move to pc at the start of the PS5 generation and I feel like I haven’t missed anything for the most part. Most exclusives eventually get ported after a year or two to pc (unless you’re bloodborne or gravity rush)
I gave up on Sony during the start of the PS3
I came back when they did PS Now PC which nowadays is now PS Plus Premiums Tier.
Mobile gaming, the Switch, the steam deck, cloud gaming has all majorly shifted the market in such an extremely fast pace then people let alone Sony even realizes.

yeahhhhhh im not one for console wars but Xbox wins this one… again.

Nintendo wins not Xbox
How was there ZERO reaction to the insane price?

Is this bait?
Say it with me: "its. personal. preference."
@@chodi.foster Sure, masochism is personal preference. If you don't have a choice you can accept the pain and play through a good game anyway, as we did playing OoT on N64 in 20 FPS (or 16.66 in Europe with a botched PAL conversion lol)
But if that's not bait, OP should read up on rendering instead of babbling. Frame rate is about responsiveness above all else. It's purely on the technical software side of games, and has nothing whatsoever to do with the artistic design side.
People need to get used to no disk drives. It’s not long until games are digital only. We cried about DVD’s going away and we all have Netflix now.
L take.
I’ll stick to my Blu-ray/4K physical media, thanks.
