I seriously think they all thematic. At least those heros I know about (Nova and Ironheart are new to me) In fact this game sometimes feels more thematic and provides better immersion than some of Marvel Video games
I think this is what I enjoy about the game most of all. Every deck leans in to it's character's power fantasy so well and you really feel like you're playing a character, not a stack of cards.
I think every hero works, but you are spot on with Iron Man. My favs you’ve not mentioned. Star Lord…. Thinks his amazing, but can actually make things worse with the extra encounter cards. Storms weather deck Gamora’s Balance mechanic Captain America, throwing his shield and bouncing it off multiple bad guys. Even at just the card level they are so good with their designs. Fastball Special and other team up cards are super thematic! Just love this game
I love She-Hulk with justice. As a lawyer, you're more capable of flipping down to alter-ego, controling the main and side schemes and getting back hitting hard. Such a fun hero with the right deck
Amazing top 5, but completely different to my list of: Domino Scarlet Witch Rogue Quicksilver Star-Lord It just shows how on point the thematics in this game are. FF do such an amazing job of it with almost every hero
When Antman first came out and it was evident that he loves to flip, I immediately thought of the restaurant fight scene from Antman and the Wasp. I'm not sure who I'd say is most thematic just because they all do such a good job at feeling like I would expect given when I know of the characters. Groot with his growth counters definitely feels like when he gets hit, its just chipping away at his bark, and he can easily grow it back, which is super thematic. Hawkeye with his bow is also really thematic, but then you add in his quiver and it's perfect. You really feel like you've run out of arrows when you go to grab one using his quiver and come up empty-handed and you have to rely more on your allies because Hawkeye is just a dude who is really good with a bow.
Yes Rocket! I've felt that way for a long time. He's so thematic and so incredibly fun. If that box wasn't so ridiculously hard when it came out I think a lot of people would have a different opinion about him. He's so good!
Overall, the heroes (and villains!) in Marvel Champions are extremely well implemented from a thematic point of view. Sometimes they don't hit on all cylinders when it comes to effectiveness, but the thematics are always great. I'd add Hulk as a very thematic hero. Discarding your hand (because Hulk is angry and doesn't plan ahead), the focus on physical resources, and how he just can't get away from his obligation are all great thematic points for him.
Phoenix is AMAZING theme-wise. You have insane power at your finger tips, but if you're not careful with it, you could accidentally end the world! I don't have her yet, but I feel like red for the aggressive power of Jean when she's done holding back, or green with healing for her caring nature when she's calm is quite fitting.
Ooooh yes! Gosh they do a great job with these! And the fact that she can straight up screw up the entire world if she doesnt check her power is so good!
The problem with Phoenix is how weak she is when compared objectively to other heroes. This kills her, thematically, for me. If there ever was ONE hero in this game the designers could have had a pass for making it "too strong", it would have to be Phoenix. (Perhaps Scarlet Witch, too?) And yet, she's sadly mid-tier at best. There's no world in which, thematically, Phoenix is weaker than Ghost Spider, or Star-Lord, or even arguably Dr. Strange.
Two for me are definitely Captain America and Deadpool. With I Can Do This All Day, Captain America can continually ready, basically alluding to him never surrendering or giving up. Also, Deadpool is pretty thematic, in that most of his cards make things worse in terms of extra damage or encounter cards, so it becomes a double edged sword in that his stuff is powerful, but risky. Also, he can't ever be knocked out, but every time he would be you get an Acceleration token, totally tying into his can't be killed theme.
Oh my gosh yes Deadpool is amazing! I didnt think abouu think, but yes! Cap is really really great, I also love that he can discount allies which is so on theme for his ability to create a team!

First time I played Iron Man, I was like "maybe he isn't the *best* hero, but he sure is the BEST HERO". Thematically, there's no comparison. All "build" heroes have this sense of scrambling to get powerful mid-fight, but Iron Man does it better and more thematically than even my favorite hero in the entire game, SP//dr.
Vision because his events are form-dependent and unique. Timing them perfectly with your form and using Density Control feels very deliberate and so android. Hawkeye for the Quiver and being able to prepare the right arrow for the job (I like Aggression for additional ways to modify and perfect attacks). Also low HP and defense haha. Without a doubt though, I would say the most thematic hero is Quicksilver. I like Leadership for the generic temporary stat boosts (Moxie, Morale Boost). The multiple activations make you feel like you’re running all over the place, and the temporary stat boosts make you feel the power of speed. Go All Out in Leadership is also super satisfying and thematic with him
Gotta go with domino. Love how luck always works in your favor with her. I do like drax but refuse to put him in the top five since I think his mechanic really works much better for hulk than it does for him
Where’s the love for chaos magic and ya girl Scarlet Witch? Love the wild, powerful unknowns of her deck. You could make the argument that her powers are ill-defined in the comics - “magic can do whatever!” - in which case, how about her inverse: Domino! She is about controlling your draws so you get _exactly_ what you want. “Luck IS a superpower.” ;)
