I love Tarja and this is my favorite performance from her. And of course I miss her in Nightwish, but I'm glad she has her solo career. Her music is much more interesting than what Nightwish has been doing for the past 10 years. And her voice has gotten so much better since she left. And Tarja's eyes widen every time she sings high notes. She is very expressive. She always sings live. She even had to cancel her classical concert in front of the audience in tears a few years ago just before it started because she was sick, but she thought she would be able to sing until the last moment. Then she spent five hours straight signing autographs for everyone who came as an apology. In this video, I think she was just moving her lips to indicate speech, but not speaking.
Yes, of course in a certain way I miss her in Nightwish but she has gotten to shine so bright in her solo career that I wouldn't changed it for the world. She now looks so happy. And Nightwish has moved on into different things, they no longer are the same band nor have they been in years. They also seem very happy. And no, Tarja was not lipsincing. You could clearly hear that she was singing live. With Tarja, I think it is very easy to hear when she is singing live (which is most of the times, I think she has used playback only in award shows or something like that) I believe the reason for why you can hardly hear her speaking to the mic is that she was singing operaticly. Her singing voice is so powerful that the mic was turned very low, probably..... then when she spoke it still was very low and the audience was very loud on top of it. That's just my guess.. I don’t really know....
I have been in one of her Chritsmas concert, just 10 meters away and I could here her own voice singing out of the mic. Chilling and mazing experience.
If you watch her stomach at the beginning, you can see it flex out at the exact time she takes a breath. They may have shut her mic off bc, during parts of the concert she uses the two mics in front of her instead. Maybe, the stage people were just switching over mics for the next song.
I miss Tarja in Nightwish and I miss the sound Nightwish had with her, but on the other hand if she had stayed with the band, we would have missed out on all her wonderful solo work. Tarja is doing fine on her own and Nightwish is doing fine with Floor so maybe it was always meant to happen this way.
ALL hale the REAL TRUE QUEEN 👑 of NIGHTWISH and of ALL FEMALE SYMPHONIC METAL SINGERS!!!, the very beautiful looking and very unique voice of the enchanting TARJA!!!😀👍👍🤘
She often does move her face muscles around the mouth before making any sound. I guess that's just her way to adjust the airflow. She always sings live. I think it was just a technical issue.. microphone setting for operatic voices is always tricky. It might just have bee set on a very low level and her thank you probably was barely more than a whisper.
Kinda miss her in Nightwish but i also love Floor and she is amazing singer as well. Tarja has an amazing solo career, i just saw her a couple weeks ago in a concert ❤
Yes I miss her with NW, but I love her solo work and I have all 5 albums she did with NW plus the concert dvds of From wishes to Eternity and End of an Era
Haven`t you heard her take on Mein Herr Marquis from her Beauty & The Beat tour? Or Ave Maria by Paolo Tosti. Only if you know her classical side, you fully can understand the level of talent and voice control she has. She is just amazing. No, she was not lip syncing. Thank you for the reaction.
This is more for what she is trained for :) I missed her in NW but luckily she made her own career. I love her more classical performances. (BTW, I think she has often made just movements with her lips without making noise.)
I think number 2 is right. This kind of music and singing she was planning to do but Tuomas rang her doorbell once...and asked her to be the third founding member of Nightwish and they started that genre in 1996/1997.
She wasn't lip syncing (in fact, she NEVER lip syncs), it turns out that when she thanks the audience her voice sounds deeper than the audience's screams, the microphone on the cell phone that was recording ends up picking up the sound of people around the cell phone and not her voice that is furthest from the person recording
Yeah the ending is a little weird, but she's def singing live, maybe she or someone accidentally turned the mic off after the performance idk. She have sang this song dozens of times already in various concerts over the years and sounded different in each of them, and also very different from the studio, of course the differences are subtle in some of them cause she's very trained but you can notice differences in the use of vibratto, sligtly change in the placement and how long she sustained the notes. I've seen her lipsync only 1 or 2 times for television appearances only. From that same concert: th-cam.com/video/pft9Y2vuHCs/w-d-xo.html And a more recent ones with a lilttle different approach: th-cam.com/video/Td5-443ng94/w-d-xo.html th-cam.com/video/Wm4Tvy1w6Mg/w-d-xo.html
It's very very unlikely that she's lipsynching. This song is on her Christmas album (Of Spirits and Ghosts: Score for a Dark Christmas) and this isn't exactly like that studio version, though it's close. She does a Christmas concert every year and if she was lipsynching those I'm pretty sure we fans would be very unhappy about that. We go to see her live because we want to see and hear the great singer herself, not yet another Corporate America prepackaged manufactured pop singer. Also no, as a Nightwish fan I don't miss her because she has a stellar solo career, so I pay attention to her in that way.
Pie Jesu performed by 14 years old Laura Bretan, the absolute voice of the 3-rd millennium. Such a phenomenal natural voice, no vocal training. ( th-cam.com/video/HksNXFB0mqc/w-d-xo.html )
Been to one of her Christmas concerts in Finland. She certainly does NOT lip sync. Her voice is just very powerful. :) She never lip syncs live.

Just met her FRIDAY and those eyes are so so captivating . OMG !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ☮☮💘💘

Her voice sounds so well-projected even on video. I couldn’t imagine hearing it live.
there are many other performances of her doing this song. She always sings live

Number 2 is correct way to pronounce Tarja. No lipsyncing but non pro recording and sound quality.
I'm in tears

Amazing.
i love Tarja turunen amanzing.

Pee-eh Yay-su. Oöd middle ages hymn. Redone here by Andrew Lloyd Wener. TAH- ree-ah. Finnish always emphasizes first syllable.
Can you imagine she would sing the Song together with Jonathan Antoine...😮😮😮
