I can not express my admiration and commitment to the US Texas. However, MORE IMPORTANLY to our history and the excitement transmitted to us. Thank you
I did three weeks in Dubai Drydock in 2005, they pulled both rudders, shafts and controllable pitch propellers, the labor rate was about $10 an hour for the contract and worked 24\7, imagine how much work could be done if you were there.
I am impressed with the speed of the restoration since my visit in April, 2023 (my birthday present to myself). I look forward to visiting the ship once it is back in the water and open for visitors.
My son and I slept aboard her, years ago, when he was a Cub Scout. It’s so good to see her being restored. Outstanding work! Thank you! God Bless Texas!
the work done, the time taken and man power going into this restoration is nothing short of a miracle, especially for the money its costing, what was it again?, $1.2 Million, outstanding, baring in mind the metal that came off and what's going on, this is truly value for money, the workmanship going into this is phenomenal, i take my hat off to everyone involved, your all part of the history of Texas i'd be so interested in the numbers, how many people involved, on and off dock, how many tons of metal came off and how may went back on, how much has been turned into Texas medals i was amused at pieces of steel coming from the UK, it seems so odd, i thought it be the other way round, but i guess British steel has a certain pedigree, sadly not so big as it was along with the British ship building
Back in 2016 when I visited the ship the middle to upper super structure was in HORRIBLE shape, multiple holes in decking, loose hand rails. I was honestly surprised they still allowed anyone up there. The engine room had water in lower levels and looked like it had been recently been full up to the lower cat walk. I was sure the ship would be scrapped. Happy that she is getting repaired.
I was not able to watch the live stream but thank you for doing it! It was very informative. I truly enjoyed my tour earlier this year while she was in drydock. I am looking forward to visiting again once she is at her new home. Sending friends your way for tours in September!
The dock tour is amazing. It is a once in a lifetime opportunity. The tour was supposed to last 90 minutes and we spent over two hours on the dry dock.
Great work, your livestream was excellent given the somewhat difficult working conditions! Hope to visit someday. Good to know that some quality British steel was used too... 😉😁🇬🇧
Going on the tour the 17th of this month. Can't wait! During maintenance dockside after drydock will you be able to have tours then to see the restoration efforts aboard ship?
Would you consider restoring one of the deck cranes to operational status so you have you own crane ability at the pier and would not need to rent cranes to move equipment on/off the ship?
Thoughts on putting her in a concrete dry dock fully supported so people could walk around the hull and inside the ship? It would also keep her from being constantly exposed to water, preserving the hull you’ve just spent all the time fixing..
Probably not as sitting a ship in a dry dock is very bad for its structure and shape. Water supports the ship in the way it was designed. Further the majority of the corrosion was from the inside working out to the outside, I recall seeing a ship that looked great from the outside, but the skin was little more than several layers of paint on a very thin layer of metal then a load of rust.
curious about the upper deck you're standing under. it doesn't look period like the riveted joists below it. When was the additional or new deck installed?
Curious as to what's being done to the original hull that was exposed when the blisters were removed. The area below the new blisters. It looks that some of it is being plated over.
Those are the attachment points for those support pylons she had while she was in La Porte, those'll stay there since they'll be using those pylons for Texas' new location as well.
Battleship Texas will get to hang out with Edsail Destroyer Escort and SS Selma xD Also possible design shape for paper weight shape of bow with dead eye cause seriously getting to stand and hold on to dead eye that one day i got to visit was beyond epic xD
A few years ago I don't know if this was 100% true but anyway a while ago Wargaming and specifically World of Warships had a thing where most or all of the funds that Wargaming got from people buy the in game USS Texas went to donations to the actual USS Texas. Could that happen again and could the other existing Museum ships do the same I like the game and thought that was a neat way to get more people aware of the ships that are still with us
Think it'd be great if they could let people pay $100 a night to sleep in the bunks for a night on the ship once it's out of dry dock. An serve breakfast on board if requested an pay for it.
Man against nature. We love nature most of the time. My bucket list it to visit the old girl before nature defeats myself. Hopefully I don`t leak as much as she has before her dry dock. hahaha
They should restore her completely and put her back out to sea! Then charge people to take cruises on her! I'd pay to go on a cruise!!!! Also get all the guns working and shoot them during the cruise! That would be awesome and I'm sure there's a lot of retired sailor's that would love that!!!
I am in texas but to pay $150 per person to see the ship is stupid. Your ripping people off. So i will not be going and i am a purple heart vet who supports our military. But no way
Make it sea worthy to the point where you can take it from A to B. Put the screws back in and sail it. Have the guns operational, too. Bring the USS taxes back online. 🫡🫡🫡🫡🫡🫡🫡🫡🫡🫡🫡🫡🫡🫡🫡🫡🫡🫡🫡🫡🫡🫡🫡🫡🫡🫡

Amazed at all the work being done. Great to see the old lady getting back into shape.
Great to see the extreme amounts of work your doing. A lot of lessons learned by the Navy and museums from this ship.
Great tour! And all the hard work is amazing! Can't wait to see her in the measure 21 color and pattern!

Love the TH-cam videos that you make for the battleship Texas.

So what do you do about the places above the supports while she's in dry dock? Are they just untouched or do you reposition them somehow?
Thanks BB 35 It was good to see that my sons Eagle Project was still in tact. ( Stairway non skid, nets, and bright work and a mile of Paracord)
Thank you for giving us the live tour!
Такие корабли не должны умирать разрезанными на металл☝️. Живи "Техас" 🙏. Людям проделавшим эту работу низкий поклон👍👍👍

The Battle Ship is looking great. I’m so glad she will be around for years to come. Thanks for keeping everyone updated. ⚓️
Incredible workmanship being done on Texas.
Excellent Broadcast...
Enjoyed Immensely...
Caught the last 20 minutes live, so had to rewind to get the entire presentation...
Next time you do a live stream, could please repeat the questions so those of us who can't participate can understand the question.

It probably wouldn't completely remove the need for a rented crane, but it would be amazing to see.
After over 100 years, this grand old lady has earned a good face lift!

With a proper maintenance schedule Battleship Texas is best kept in the water.
The Alabama is set up pretty well.
Can also add that concrete is really bad for steel. It holds moisture and is acidic.
Give it up buddy, ships are made to float
what's the chance of getting a piece of that wood before you scrap it?
If you got more money to do fix the bottom was you keep it in dry dock long?
curious about the upper deck you're standing under. it doesn't look period like the riveted joists below it. When was the additional or new deck installed?
Damage should be painted red so it can be seen.
Or maybe orange.
Red or orange is not a Navy Color - More like Navy Blue or Midnight Blue
Curious as to what's being done to the original hull that was exposed when the blisters were removed. The area below the new blisters. It looks that some of it is being plated over.
Some of the steel on the bow appears to be less than 2. Will that be replaced?
This year I visited HMS Belfast. Texas is next on the list once I earn the money :)
Thanks for saving the battle damage🤠
I have done the dry dock turn it was great.
How many decks will be open when Texas reopens? Will additional decks be opened afterwards?
All three decks will be reopen again. We have plans to open additional spaces that haven’t been open in quite some time.
The US Navy has been the worlds best for over a century. Just to stop and think what an impressive force this ship was during its service.
What are you guys gonna do about those 2 vents off the side. Of the ship? Above the torpedo blester

Why so long between updates.

Our overnight program will resume once the ship is reopen.
are you going to put the propeller back on or display them beside the ship.
Hope they are going to repaint over those fresh welds
Man against nature. We love nature most of the time. My bucket list it to visit the old girl before nature defeats myself. Hopefully I don`t leak as much as she has before her dry dock. hahaha
Where will the Texas be going once repairs are done
Most likely Galveston just across the ship channel from where this shipyard is.
Do you guys use Cosmoline as a corrosion inhibitor
Mosquitoes On the Gulf Coast of Texas will carry you TF off.
Where will she be going to when finished?
How about an update on the gun restorations?
I wonder how much Chinese steel they're using in this restoration?
Why were the screws removed
I’ve seen other museums paint battle damage silver to highlight and draw the eye
The USS Texas needs to be next to the USS Lexington!
Will there be a coffer dam built around the ship in the future
Not at this time.
Why
Why no shafts and props? Are there plans to replace them?
Why would they
She’s looking great
Very Nice 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻🚢⚓

Scotty how are the maine engines?
Awesome job guys
It's a shame she isn't going back to San Jacinto.
Put the window's back in.
Very difficult to understand this person without captions.
Well done
Love it!
Where is the uss texas getting moved to
Galveston
Id donate to the texas just for them to hire someone else to make these videos. I wanna know all about this just stand listening to this guy
How about an update???
Where are the screws
Only one exists, and it is currently in safe storage.
After dry dock
Travis is much better and cooler than that lame USS New Jersey guy
You are doing all this marvelous work and your not going to straiten the freaking rudder? What's the point of the ships preservation??????
I am in texas but to pay $150 per person to see the ship is stupid. Your ripping people off. So i will not be going and i am a purple heart vet who supports our military. But no way
