You mentioned it, though I want to elaborate on a certain point. My suggestion, if your getting into skylanders now, is to start with buying collections and getting multiple skylanders at once. Sometime soon you´ll reach a point where you allready own most of the common skylanders, and you´ll have to look for the remaining ones seperatly. This is also where I´m currently at. You´ll probably miss some Trap masters, lots of senseis and a few cores here and there. My tip is to know the price these characters go for in your region and observe the market for a bit. Its a tideous process, but after some days/weeks, you will eventually find an offer that you and your wallet are willing to exept. Sometimes its also worth paying some money on shipment, as for me for example Wild storm/ Ro bow always go for above 250 euros, which is more expansive then buying it from the U.S.
Not sure of there was a difference across consoles, but one thing I have noticed is while you only need one crystal to make all imaginators classes via the reset glitch, you do need one crystal of each element to unlock the likewise part set. Not having all of the part sets has left me stuck at a 96% on my switch version, but perhaps ps4 is different since switch was a late port.
It wasn't until recently that I reaslised how much I missed this game and how much is inspired the types of games I enjoy and play to this day. I just remember getting so excited over getting new characters to play the original skylanders game and maxing their level out, and getting my first black and gold was so amazing. I regret selling them all back in 2016 but guess I am trying to now collect them again now haha
I can understand you are regretful but don't beat yourself up too hard. It's already done and you thought it was the right thing to do at the time. Besides, collecting everything is half the journey :D

Small comment though, you said that new players should buy the newest version of a skylander that has reposes, but it’s worth looking into the wow pow before buying. As an example, series 2 Trigger Happy is far better than series 3 (and much more fun to play as). It’s possible to see the differences on the skylander wiki or on TH-cam, so it makes it easier to decide

I've found that it'd cost me €1.50 for series on and 2 stealth elf (individually) but I could buy ninja stealth elf for a much cheaper 75 cents because she was in a starter pack. So it's not a bad Idea to try get all the starter pack figures as all together they'll probably be 20 euro/dollars at the most

I know it's an old video but you can actually get all 10 elements and battle classes in imaginators with just 10 figures, and funnily enough, it's getting all 10 villain senseis (King Pen can replace Grave Clobber for cheaper as well if you prefer). There are some other orderings you can get which are much cheaper but all villains is just much easier to remember for some people
I just take my time collecting figures mostly going to my two local second hand stores that don't know the figures value. One time I walked out with four swappers and three trap masters for dirt cheap.

you do need a creation crystal to 100% imaginators, one of the challenges or w.e theyre called, requires you to make all 10 creation classes and that goes towards progress
*Easiest way to enjoy Skylanders:* 1. Get the latest version of your most wanted Skylanders (varied and ranked from furthest series number, Legendary, to Elite). Supercharger reposes are in their own separate tier and aren't reverse compatible. Recolors like Holiday, Power Blue, Nitro, etc aren't a factor in stats. Soul Gems are also available in a character's next available game 2. Only modes worth enjoying are Story and anything related to Arena. Getting one each of (blank) to unlock gates or challenges isn't worth further financial investment. 3. The Switch version of Imaginators not only permanently stores characters, but it's useful in deciding classes for Imaginator Crystals IF old data isnt already present in said toy. Additionally, the 3DS versions of SA or Giants can reset crystals internally, but requires the handheld, game (which are also worth a look, imo) and specific 3DS portal. 4. Well I have already gotten most of the way to completing my collection for most of the games now having completed Spyro's adventure and Superchargers only missing less than ten from Swap Force and Giants and Imaginators and still loads from trap team
Trap Team and Imaginators is likely to be the last games that anyone completes in their collection. Nice for you to have completed everything you mentioned though!
Iv got everything from the first 3 games all the traps and dlc levels for trap team and all the cars in supercharges. never played the last game cus i was kinda done with spending money on the series after that and honestly it started feeling a bit old at swap force.
To me the most common mistake is listening to other people Nobody should listen to other people to choose which skylander to buy Because you can miss out on a skylander that you really love at the end of the day, or be disappointed by one, like imagine being told chop chop is amazing, you buy it, and you hate the fact he only got one amazing attack, while discovering without any knowledge it would be this good may make you feel happy and not disappointed Ask for good skylanders that suits your playstyle, not skylanders thatother people love, because that's what they are, OTHER people, not you

i prefere do the things from the beginning, so i play (and for the nostalgia) SSA and buying Spyro s3, S.Elf s3, Terrafin s3, Gill Grunt s4 and Chop Chop s2, for me that i played this in 2011 in a friends home and i usually used these figures is the perfect start, right now like 1 year after the first buy i have like 40 figures from all games and completed the first 3 (i have in mind complete the 3ds versions too)
I want to get swap force and trap team on ps4 but just for the pure game disc it’s costs £50 and for the starter packs, £150. Simply unreasonable. They also don’t have digital editions so you can’t just buy the game and other things separately. The only game that has a digital edition is super chargers, still at £30.
I didn't mention it in the video but I did ALL of the mistakes myself :D The most important thing is that you have fun during your collection endeavour :)
Just to clarify, is it good if you just buy the "essentials" for 100% the games? Its a very niche thing where I live, so its quite hard to find skylanders
For disclaimer I writed this before endi g the video haha I only have the first 4, and the only thing I wanna do is open all Doors and play all levels if posible. I know I'll always have blank spots but I just cant pay myself that much for every Game haha (Which sucks because my fav is trap and holy hell light and dark are expensive)
I would say that what you mentioned is a good goal to have. There are of course a few factors that complicate things that I go over in the video but you can always check the website www.skylanderscharacterlist.com to see what you need to complete each game to 100%.

I have ro-bow but not wild storm yet I’m trying to beg my really old friend from elementary who has wild storm but he lives 7 hours away from me so I’m still trying to get in touch with him but I do know he still has his collection because he posts on Facebook about them all the time so I hope I can bargain him for like 50$ for that figure high hopes 🙏 edit:not all reposes some of the reposes are light core which means nothings different bedsides they light up on the portal

Im from denmark so i have the Nordic version of swapforce. I Can still play the game in english by just changing the languster on my Xbox 360 so u did not have to but 2 copies
I actually got a great deal once and got half of the sensei and a quarter of every skylander for each game minus supercharges all for 50 pounds it is one of the best purchases I've ever made!
I don’t think you can 100% Imaginators without creation crystals as they unlock creation items when you scan the first one for each element. I have 100% on Imaginators and you need EVERY creation item for 100%.

I don't know how things are in the region you live in but here in Sweden there is a lot of Skylanders circulation on the used market. 98% of the Skylanders I've bought have been used but I have bought them from both retailers and private persons. We don't have any stores though, everything is online. I would search the online used market if I were you. Good luck!
I mean you could just emulate them if u have a decent pc. beats spending hundreds on a now dead franchise. dont get me wrong i love skylanders but i dont £500+ love it
To be honest, I can't remember exactly :) I think I bought Enigma in a lot with a bunch of random Skylanders spread out over the different games. I might have handpicked him from a guy who sold off his collection to get a Trap Master of the Magic Element.

That's how I got all my figures when I was younger by second hand stores.

You can play all games with an emulator such as Cemu on PC, however SSA will be in Japanese.
