Don't worry about the tree you chopped at your housing slot which will not grow back. When you chop level 2 and above tree later, you will get chance drop of tree seed which you can plant at your housing slot at a location of your choice. It probably is better to chop those 'default' tree and then later on plant your own tree at the right spot according to your layout.
I know, I have oplayed the alphas for a year. :) But the trees you plant will be medium size and will not grow. I can't plant a tre the same size as the one I cut down.
There are many people recommending spending you renown on focus as well. If you don’t care about your housing plot it is fine, but if you do it’s sad. I save that until I have all the land and I also save levelling the skills I like the least until I have increased my focus buff. You can only have one character and you can’t delete it and start over, and some things cannot be fixed. You can start a new account with a different email ofc. When it comes to gameplay nothing is ever too late or unfixable though.
Hunting and bug catching (especially shinys) are exellent ways to get money. Fishing too if you want more relax, but it depends of luck what fish you get and bit more time consuming. :)
The truth is that you can make good money on all skills except furniture crafting and cooking is also not viable from start and it takes a while to get money enough to have all the 9 gardening plots and are able to make gold quality seeds and even longer to get the preserves jar. But all the other skills are very good money makers from start. That is if you are willing to sell the materials you get from hunting, mining and foraging. I want my materials for crafting and gifting so I don't sell most of the materials I get from them. I expect that the big money maker later in game will be gardening with pickles and jams from gold quality apples, blueberries and tomatoes. You can also catch a lot fish and bugs while your plants are growing and while the jam is being produced so gardening is a rather efficient money maker.
Also- fishing can also tie into farming because you can make fertilizer once you build the worm farm. That's available at level 4 though, so it fits into what you said about leveling in general. Just wanted to share for those who didn't know~ (And hi fellow alpha tester!)

I threw the first one together in a haste when I relised nobody doing guides talked about the trees on your lot never coming back and the lot expansion being payed with renown. Some things cannot be fixed as it is now. I will do a slightly more structured guide now.
As far as the 5 machine limit, I've built 2 of everything pretty much and just keep them in my inventory, putting down whatever I currently need. Except that seed making thing. I keep that thing running 24/7 lol
I have already bought my first licence because I need 2 seedmakers at least and I have the other machines running 24/7 so I cannot swap them in and out. When I get the preservs jar recipe (soon) I will want at least 5 of thos e running 24/7 more if I can afford the licences, plus I will go hard on crafting so smelters and sawmills and loom and glass furnace will also be running 24/7 along with seedmakers and the fertilizer makers (if I ever get the fishing skill up). It will pretty quickly become impossible to switch crafters in and out of inventory. At least for me who focus on gardening and crafting furniture.

Getting side track to talk to all the NPC is a 'must' imho. Every time you invoke a 'chat' you earn relationship point which will unlock further quest from that NPC. So talk to them regularly when you meet them on the way. It can be distracting and you end up not doing what you want to do :).
You will never be able to even slightly fill up your plot for a looong time, writs are therefore kinda useless in the start and you probably wanna focus on increasing focus and focus bonus from the shrines, since that makes you level up faster. You should buy 5 writs for the quest tho
Oh it is already pretty full. I have 5 extra rooms and I will add several more in the near future and I have 4 tents plus the 9 gardening plots and outdoors furnishings and many lovely trees. But I unlocked all land expansions last week and have put several hundred points into the phoenix shrine for easier levelling of the skills I’m less interested in. It’s all about priorities. I my case housing is the true endgame. All the high level unlocks are connected to housing. There is no reason to rush levelling once you reach lvl 9 in the skills you choose to level in the beginning, which is easy without the added focus just by playing the game. You will not unlock any more recipes for tools and crafters after that. You can unlock cool housing items and buy some gathered items and processed materials with medals. And the best seeds from Badruu. There is also no level cap to my knowledge. The last accomplishment for skill level is lvl 50. My character level is over 50 so I presume I will be able to pass 50 also on the skills. Don’t think I made it past 50 in any skill in alpha but I would be surprised if there is a cap. There is also no competition in the game so why the levelling rush? :)
Well my view on it is just the higher my level the easier it is for me to make money and therefore enables me to get more customization etc, again I dont think you can even get much customization in terms of house expansion from the start due to money restrictions etc, so the extra space will not be filled if you arent interested in tents at all for quite some time, therefore I see more priority in just increasing overall focus to do more and get faster levels.@@vildra
Well each to their own and Palia will not force you to do anything. The whole point with the game is to have a home in the world and enjoy it so everyone should do what the want. But knowing from the beginning that there is another option than pouring renown into focus allows everyone to at least make an informed decision on what to prioritise. I have played since 2 August and I am lv 9 furniture crafting so I have access to all furnishing sets, although I don't want to use my palium and enchanted wood on the last sets until I have all my exquisite tools. It is true I can't afford the more expensive items in the black market yet, I only bought a couple of rugs as of yet. But my seedmakers and preserve jars give me a steady income and I do some hunting and fishing on the side while they are working for me so it won't be long until I have the things that I want in my house. And I won't be able to get all the items for medals much quicker if f rush the levelling since the number of coins you can earn from the weekly challenges is limited. By the time I have saved up 1125 foraging medals for the coi pond I'm sure I will also have the level to unlock it. :)@@BarbokVA
Also if you watch guides on how to make money in Palia you will se that you can earn around 4k gold an hour from start from hunting, bug catching or fishing. Well, good luck to you my friend. I haven't even had a mushroom respawn. Outside the border of your lot it can respawn, but not in the buildable area. Maybe if you buy new plot you get it fully grown, I haven't done that yet. Nothing respawns in a new slot though.
Also check your junk mail in case it ended up there. If you log into you account you can check if you can download it. Sometimes the mail gets delayed.

You can press the hot key on your bar and right click or open your inventory and right click the meal and choose eat.
