Rideshare ryders for insurance are not bad when you already have full coverage and an excellent driving record. It's also entirely a write off when you made enough to get tax forms and you keep track of expenses. UBER and LYFT give the gift of paper losses that assist with offsetting earned income. Our businesses run with little net income and get us back much of what is taken in payroll taxes on my and my wife's primary jobs. Take what they give you and open multiple legitimate businesses. My LLC costs me about $150 - $200 a year to maintain and encompasses all dbas at this time. I pay the CPA just under $700 to get it right, written off as professional services as well. Prepaid Legal or Legal Shield, Auto and home insurance, umbrella insurance, all for my home based business. Learn to run your business with ride share as ONE stream of income and find others. Even part time, you can gain the write offs, including mileage at 65 cents plus if memory serves. Depreciation and car payments on newer vehicles, etc. Cost of doing business. Protect yourself.

We should not have to pay for UBER's insurance when we're adequately covered ourselves. I HAVE 1.3 / 1.5 million dollars worth of coverage with the 1mm umbrella insurance policy I have after 300/500K full coverage. We have 3 vehicles and a trailer. Insurance for all of that is about $241 a month. Say $170 or so is rideshare related. I can drive either car of the two car or van for rideshare. Inspections are written off as well. Car Washes, cleaning supplies, maintenance.

Been telling folks for at least a good year about this problem. People are running around yelling about commercial insurance because of how we drive, yet the average driver out here has NO PROTECTION AT ALL...and no one is talking about this. Good video. Mine drops in the morning, ironically! Glad people are having this discussion because I've been seeing so many drivers get into an accident and end up WORSE OFF even tho they were on the app when they wrecked. Folks think being "on the app" is secure and nothing to worry about...until they have a wreck. When I got hit in the Jeep, my attorney made sure EVERYTHING was handled, and I walked away with a little over $4k in my pocket after the Jeep and the medical PLUS attorney's fees were paid. My attorney is a BEAST!

Im in upstate New York looking to become a Rideshare driver. I did the right thing and called my insurance company, progressive, and notified them of this. I was immediately made to acknowledge that doing Rideshare under my Progressive plan would results in the immediate cancellation of my personal auto insurance with them if caught. I was then told by Progressive that they would never cover me, because in new york, doing Rideshare is considered an unacceptable risk. I am having the damnedest time trying to find insurance that will allow me to do rideshare. As soon as I mention I'm trying to do it in New York, not New York City mind you, but upstate New York, all of a sudden nobody wants anything to do with it.

Do you honestly think that amount that is being charged during a ride to cover you for commercial insurance by Uber is the amount that they are paying per ride?? come on that's not what's happening at all it is 100% what's going on with what Sergio is eleduing to and as far as it being an amount that is coming out of your pocket and not Ubers is just common sense here the more they're not allowing to be made and that leaves more for them to collect which means that money is coming out of your pocket

Technically yes Uber pays for the insurance. They charge the rider, keep their profit, pay fees and insurance and hand us what’s left. Point is we could be getting paid more without costing Uber or the Pax anything if we simply had our own coverage. Just that one ride Sergio referenced covers a day of commercial coverage. I doubt any full time driver does only 40 miles a day. You’d actually make a few hundred more a month by having your own coverage if Uber was paying you what they’d normally charge Pax.
