How is 4 good for all means? I was hyped for it when I first got to the cinema, but the movie configuration was 💩. The movie however was a classy one. That still doesn’t rank my opinion any high than a low B tier. It was good for the first 3-4 minutes. Eventually fell off.

I know people have their opinions, but Rise of Gru wasn’t all terrible. It was a sequel of a prequel, but the second did better. Young Gru is a symbol for a good movie, or atleast felonious Gru

Despicable Me 3 is a mess. But it’s the kind of mess you can say “that’s good…I think?” And besides, it has the man, the myth, the legend, Stan Marsh as the villain.

Idk but I feel like the fourth movie kinda made the third movie feel non cannon. An example would be the retirement of ramsbuttom, I didn’t understand how he came back in the fourth movie, after he said he retired from the third movie or another bigger thing would be the complete exclusion of Dru, which honestly I would have loved for him to be in the movie. Idk that is all I have to say.

I don't know what's more surprising to me, the fact that despite the objective messes the third and fourth film ended up being, they still made bank at the box office, or the fact they somehow convinced Steve Carrell to do all 4 movies lol

I want to mention one thing and that is how it looks like Dru would be loved my the mom and Gru would be loved by the dad witch seems pretty interesting seeing that the mom and dad chose the wrong kid when they separated
Despicable Me 4 has even less of a story, but it’s also less annoying and the absence of Dru and more screen time for Lucy and the girls make it an improvement over 3 imo
In my opinion, DM4 was less of a mess but the plot somehow got even worse.

I kinda wish the conflict had Dru be more of bad influence on Gru's kids instead of just splitting the group up for these side-plot. I feel like that would've given more stakes to Gru's inner conflict of staying good or being evil again.
I find it really funny when gru and dru talk to each other because it's literally just steve carell talking to himself
If you think DM3 plot was bad, then be prepared to watch DM4 once it comes to DVD/Streaming.
There were like 10 different plot lines happening in that film.

I mean… I was pretty hyped at the time when Gru turned out to have a twin brother. Dru himself was kinda ehhh…. I don’t know I originally thought he was gonna be a twist secondary antagonist or something. It probably could’ve worked but idk. (He looks like Prince Charming from Shrek lmao)
Bratt’s pretty cool. I liked his aesthetic
I also kinda liked Lucy’s arc of being a good mom which was something i wanted to see since the first time I saw DM2
Thought the ending was also a lil satisfying with Dru taking Gru’s place as the villain of the family. Gotta keep the tradition alive.

For example, the boys want to buy exotic weaponry, but they are told that they aren't old enough to do so, therefore they make up a story about their parents dying in order to guilt trip the dealer into giving them the weapons. Another instance from the same episode: the boys play with the weapons in an anime like sequence, but then Butters gets hit in the eye with a shuriken from Kenny, therefore the boys try to hide butters in order to not get in trouble for playing with dangerous weapons.

The animation itself is ok. But the problem is the excessive use of motion blur. Every time a character moves motion blur is used, which is why it looks weirdly smooth. It was obvious in Sing too, and it seems to be a style Illumination has taken on, because you notice it in the 4th movie too.
