That was silly I admit and would never have done it for the view but if I want to share the real experience then out I go. Just the reaction the trees have to those temperatures is worth seeing. Thank you and you all take care.
Just beautiful Simon. COLD COLD! The next 4 days here will be our coldest so far. Temps in the single digits with high winds. Stay warm as you can. Thanks for the video. God Bless you, Sarah and your family. Pet Kaspar for us. Alan
Howdy Simon- absolutely beautiful scenery there! I’m glad I joined you on the walk from this side of the screen lol. You are to be commended for going out in that kind of temperatures to capture a beautiful video. Stay safe and warm my friend. The coldest I’ve seen here in western Arkansas is-14 degrees Fahrenheit. The river cane and bamboo patches people had froze out and died. Take care and God bless
Thank you Paul, also a pleasure to read your thoughts. I have seen iron, steel and cast bust like paper this week so plant life with any moisture inside has no chance. I hope you and your team of Brothers are doing well on your latest project and all is well. Take care my friend.

Hello S&S. Thanks for letting us tag along on the walk. Stunning indeed! Yes, too cold for outdoor activities my friend. I shoveled several inches of slush late last night and of course hurt the old back. Just can't seem to tell myself to slow down and take breaks. I just want to get the job done. I know you relate! Well I was done when after that and called it quits. Not too bad, just sore. I knew the cold was coming in an it'll be 10 days or so frozen solid so it was a must. A couple hours later...frozen solid. We got that sweeden artic blast air 😅 coming in but not -40° thankfully. 22°f now and dropping all day. 35 mph sustained winds and -3° by tomorrow morning. I've taking up enough of your time. Including you 3 in my thoughts and prayers for heat, safety, health, and energy to stay awake on your shifts while feeding the lifeline ole girl in the basement. Always love seeing her. Hopefully you don't get to much to work to record for next week due to the Temps. (Frozen pipes) God bless my friends and thanks again! Hello Sara 👋 Stay Warm & keep an eye on the boys. ❤
I cannot believe you shoveled slush! what did you think was going to happen. I hope you just slightly rolled it and it will recover quickly, not that I should give advice on how the behave when you have a glass back. Thank you as always and stay warm.
Amazing and beautiful. How on earth does the wildlife survive. It obviously does. Here in SE Texas it’s 75f today, with an Arctic front coming on Monday. Temps will go down to 20f for 36hrs. You would think it was the end of the world. From one Brit to another - stay warm my friend.
Hi Keith, I did see the weather forecast across the US and smiled. So there is not any wildlife that cannot survive the Arctic here. Even some of them don't make it. The summer see migrating birds but other wise our wildlife is all native Arctic species. You also live in a good place, certainly high on my list for a few good reasons. Lag your water pipes!
Wow Simon! I wondered what -40 would be like as -20 degrees C has been the coldest I’ve experienced and 45 minutes of that was enough ….. just to say I had done it! Then stayed inside for the next 2 days 😁😁. BUT -40 …. I don’t think I would be able physically to cope with it at all. The added advantage is the beauty of the scenery though. STUNNING FOR SURE. We are home now and have had a Sunny/cloudy/rainy and windy day at 28 degrees C with high humidity! The world is truely an amazing place. Love to you all at home and paw rubs for Kasper and hugs. ❤️🇦🇺🇸🇪
Thank you Anne, you must have had an amazing trip and yes the world is an incredible place. LOL high humidity you must be back to two showers a day. What I can take away from these temperatures how far our early explorers traveled with the most basic of equipment and clothing in such conditions. It brings a new level of admiration. Be safe out there
I happen to think your frozen environment is stunningly beautiful. Yes the cold can be perilous but there's a secure and comforting feeling when you're safe in your home and it's extremely cold outside. And that security is reinforced by knowing you will survive because you prepared for winter. I'm content in the winter months (I'm retired) to feed the woodstove, clear snow when necessary, and replenish food stores once in a while. Reading and TH-cam helps pass the time. When all that gets old spring has rolled around.
Wise words Matthew thank you, I can tell you also enjoy the extreme's and isolation that brings. It is very hard to explain to the masses that you have to work most of the summer to survive the winter.
I am trying to imagine what -40 would feel like. Suffice to say it is hard to image from my living room in Andover! But it does look spectacular. So looking forward to visiting in a couple of weeks. I am hoping for a balmy -10 or so? Do take care my friend.
It also hard to portray to camera, but you are aware if you fail the consequences will be swift. I did tell you that you would be coming in the coldest month so bring something for the ears. Take care and see you soon.
Yes Sr. it’s damn cold out we are a -18c +wind chill 🥶to old to be P’n outside 😂 looks stunning though I love it. Thanks for braving the cold Simon . All the best!
Hi Eric, the bridge I was on is a railroad the other bridge is a highway. There used to all cross on the railroad I think the highway was built in the 60's.
Hi Si Happy New Year to yourself Sarah and Casper Great videos as always laughed along with you and Charlotte making her video. Minus 40c is bloody cold . Hope this year brings health happiness and prosperity to you mate 👍

I can imagine how can be there at -40, i only experienced -25 and is was awful. Be safe stay warm! Such beautiful scenery there, thanks for sharing with us!
Good day, sir. That's a truly wonderful winter wonderland where you live. In cold weather with some 40 below it is extremely dangerous to be outside. Also be very careful walking on them snowed in railroad tracks. One can easily slip on the cross ties and fall, not to mention get hurt. Hope you have told someone that you are on this brief excursion to the railroad bridge that you are showing us, in order to assist you should something happen. Thanks for the video. Stay safe and most of all stay warm. Greetings from Bavaria, Germany
Thank you and welcome, I am pleased you enjoy the video. It is a dangerous place to be and there is no help coming for me so I am always very careful. Have a great day.
I grew up a 20 km away from where you live, so I'm familiar with the environment. The winters have gradually become milder, so in a way -40° feels as if the order is restored, if only just for now. It is indeed too cold for any outdoor activities. -50° is just awful, it's like breathing knives. It's an experience one can live without. When I was a child, we had just got an indoor loo (modernity came late in these villages, very late in poor households). The elderly was especially grateful for this modern marvel. It's easy to understand why. Imagine having to run out to an outdoor facility at -40° or 50°.
Hej, many of my friends told me the same stories and all of them have lived in -40 to -50. Most cabins outside the villages still only have outhouse. You also know many of these villages are still poor and life can be difficult. It is very difficult for many how watch to understand just how recently pumped water, electricity and indoor toilets have come to these remote places. Thank you
Truly beautiful landscape Simon, and so very deadly to unprepared humans. The water at the centre of the river must move at a few knots and be quite deep. Hope it warms up a bit - 20 would feel almost mediterranean. Stay safe, good luck.
Thank you William, the river is fast flowing and turbulent there which is why it is always the last to freeze over. Yes -20 is very workable for most jobs. -40 is not workable at all. Have a great day
Yep.. and then it went from -22°C here to +7 and buckets upon buckets of rain.... all in one single day. And to really p..s me off it's supposed to drop down below -20 again after the weekend🥶 Well, nothing more to do than keep the fire burning in the old woodstove🔥 Hope you guys are doing good, all the best 🙂
I have just finished y second video on that exact subject and the damage and mess that it has caused. Burst pipes massive roof shed and so on and as you say we are now going back to -30 and the snow has started! It is a pleasure to be here and I love it. Thank you and keep warm.

Minus 40 is very cold Simon, and this winter it has been very cold in Norway and Sweden, much colder than normally. Where I live it has been more than minus 30, and because of the moisture from the river and the fiord it feels alot colder. I understand why you don't even try to start your Volvo, you could risk destroying the machine, metal gets very brittle in low temperatures. What kind of railroad is passing close to your house? I can see it is not the main railroad between south and Kiruna in north, so is it what they call "inlandsbanan"? Take care in the cold, stay inside and keep the heat going 🙂 and I look forward to your next video. Greetings from you "grannland"
