agreed the step up is too big to 120mm. Plus 3x will be digital zoom now. And I dont get the point of 24mp from a quad pixel 48mp lens. It seems 12mp is still the ideal size for that leans spec. Maybe they want people to comsume more icloud storage? Apple is clearly not upgrading the icloud storage tiers and instead adding more expensive plans on top of current plans.

Phones in general are too refined now for sweeping changes, I think.
Every phone, whether it be Pixel, Galaxy, or iPhone, are going to have iterative updates for the foreseeable future. And that’s ok!

Yeah the mainline flagship phones definitely won't be getting big updates year or year, but we have a new exciting frontier with foldables! Really interested to see where the industry will go with those in the coming years.
The fact that iPhone updates are dull do not mean the phone industry is stale overall. iPhone is not a definition. Not anymore.

I’ve waited since iPhone X and this is going to be a substantial jump for me going up to a 15 pro max. I’ll be super happy with all the improvements and honestly I’m looking forward most to the better camera in my pocket and the better experience I’ll have consuming media.
On a year to year basis, there really isn’t much of an upgrade. But who in the general public has the money or need to be upgrading their phone every year nowadays?

I'm with you on a similar upgrade cycle. Since iPhone and smartphones, I've also been on the 4-5 year cycle. Went from iPhone 5, to iPhone 7, to another iPhone 7 replaced with insurance when that got stolen, to my current iPhone 13 Mini (RIP Mini :( ). I usually find the battery degradation and updates in features/design I want tend to coincide with that schedule. Even more so, as most decent smartphones do things we didn't even imagine a few years ago, and the development in must have features has slowed down. I appreciate that I have been able to rely on Apple for updates for several years, which...as tempting as other options are...we definitely haven't seen as consistent support for many of the Android offerings. Depending on my financial situation when the time comes (likely in a couple years), I may upgrade to the smaller Pro or whatever the equivalent is in a couple years time. I also will at least consider a look at the Android offerings then as well.

It’s not the easiest thing to write a script to do, but you can have menus within shortcuts, so you could have a shortcut that invokes multiple shortcuts from a menu (presumably; I don’t have the new phone in question).
That post processing portrait mode reminds me of how you could add portrait mode after you took a photo on the old Nokia Lumia phones!
I think it's an often missed feature on Samsung's too. My S23U let's me add great portrait effects to images with people in them even I didn't chose it when taking, and regardless of the device it cam from-the algo is really good.

I have the 14 pro max and get around 150 calls a day at work, on top of checking emails, using google maps, taking pictures, and using the internet im always down to single digits by the time my workday ends. My battery capacity is at 91% and its current at a 4% charge at the moment.
I’m Picking up my 15 Pro Max on Friday, I’m disappointed with the battery but also understand I’m also a really heavy user.

Need a more in-depth graphical performance analysis. Being able to run Resident Evil Village and Resident Evil 4 Remake is super impressive to me. What’s the frame rate? How does iPhone handle the more graphically demanding segments of the game? Does it play well with a controller attachment? Is there someone at the Verge who can speak on that?
That new BlackMagic camera app with ProRes recording should be pretty nice.

out of all the review, I always come to watch The Verge review of the iPhone because, because it is actually PRO.
The good thing about LOG is that there will be an avalanche of color grading LUTS in the next months! Also, the new FREE Blackmagic Camera app lets you record video in other ProRes formats (LT, etc)
Is the portrait edit mode of the photo available with photos took with Live Photos on???? That’s a huge deal for me .
Curious to know what the exact input parrameters you would need for the log footage if your using the colour space transform tool in davinci resolve

for me i have the iphone 12 pro max pacific blue color. or i can wait for the iphone 16 pro max or the iphone 17 pro series. coming in 1 to 3 years and maybe a full screen/ display. and also thin bezels for the iphone series. is it worth it to upgrade to the iphone 15 series with usb-c ports cable. or also a good gaming phone for a decent price.

I am sure verge can make a case and Apple will listen. Have Spatial video also record on hard drive via usb c. Because those videos will be very large. Also, have their format be compatible to be used for other VR headsets like Quest etc !!!

I feel the 5x lens has been thrown in the pro Max just for the bragging rights. It was obvious from the start that it would require immense amount of light to provide just ok image quality. IMO they sould have sticked with a 3x zoom with a better /bigger sensor. anyway I thing it's definatly a skippable year, unless you really want to use the usb-c feature a lot while filming of course.
You would've thought Apple would have refined it as they took their time. I'm excited to see how the Pixel 8 Pro performs.

i’ve been using top iPhone models since 2018. Before that, Android since 2012. On my current 14 pro max, the only thing I wish Apple would’ve done by now (since it is a current feature on the Ipad) is multi-tasking. Beyond that, android does really fall short.
It really is a niche feature. I have an android phone and everyone I know never really multitask on their phone.
@@arefinsea I miss it all the time. And I think the main reason people don’t usually use it it’s because they don’t even know it exists and how to make it useful.
@@matliss I know about the feature and I don’t use it because phones are already small. And having two different screens is not intuitive and doesn’t not look good either. You really are in a dire situation when you would want to multitask on a 7 inch screen.
I genuinely think this is a very niche use case, Samsung has tried to push for YEARS now and failed. I have the biggest (?) Samsung phone but I genuinely never want to have multitasking on; it's too small. I'd say I'm a "power" user.

Is there any improvement to the antenna on the 15 Pro Max vs the 14 Pro Max? Would the X70 Modem increase 5g signal strength and stability? My iPhone 14 ProMax has been my worst iPhone ever for signal strength. This has been complained about by multiple other people on the Apple Forums and an Apple Care Representative also admitted that they’re receiving numerous complaints about signal strength and reliability on the 14 Pro Max.

Yes, you can. However you may need a faster thunderbolt USB cable.
@@arefinseaNope wrong, the usb port is just USB 3.0 and it doesn’t support Thunderbolt which is 40gbps vs. The mere 10 gbps in iphone pros.
@@karandevilocsyou don’t need thunderbolt, usb 3.0 on the iPhone allows direct recording to a SSD, as seen on the Apple advertising video.
@@karandevilocs Please get your facts right. Thunderbolt “3” is up to 40gbps. Thunderbolt starts from 10gbps which is USB 3.0. Basically, any thunderbolt cable will give you the maximum speed needed for filming to an SSD.

i have problem with pro res external recording with iPhone 15 pro max. I used thunderbolt usbc cable and Samsung SSD 4tb t7. And I have 2-3 fps on my video. I’m very upset. Somebody know some solution?

Hi Allison, Could you please make a video going into the details of the wireless charging efficiency in the different Apple products and different wireless charging options?.
My feeling is wireless charging in general is only about 50% efficient, meaning for each 10W the charger takes out of the power outlet, only 5W
finally reach the device battery... which I think is radically less than wired charging.... If you find out this to be true in your research, it could mean that every body who switches to wireless charging will be roughly doubling the electrical power used to charge its phone.... Which can be a huge impact if you multiply by the millions of mobile phone owners worldwide…. Environmental implications might be really high..

Tbh, the biggest change of being the usb c to the iPhone is the transfer speed. It’s because, often than not, when your phone is about to run out of battery, it’s the same case for your Mac as well as iPad. As a person that always carry a 2 port PD charger in my back pack, it really does makes that big of a difference…… except that I might need to throw a lightning cable without it reaching it’s life span and get a new one. Which is sort of wasting to me. Anyways, the usb c is a good change but really not that big of a deal, since devices need its cable anyway 😂😂😂
Well, if you currently have a lightning cable, you probably also have a device you use it for. So if that device is still in use, that cable will be too. If you are planning to replace that device, you can also send the cable with it to whoever will receive it, and it will be used then too. And so on until either one of them dies first. I don't see it as such a waste.

The moment i heard you say usb 3, I just got a random feeling that Samsung will upgrade their s24 lineup to atleast usb 3.2(20gbps) or usb 4. It would be a missed opportunity just for marketing if they don't.

No turning Camera shutter sound off option is only for hongkong/japan models. Since their government doesn’t allow. Please check where your device model is from?
Nobody cares about Dex. It's been what, almost a decade since it came out and hardly any Samsung users use it, much less know that it even exists. And it's not like I'm gonna be carrying around a bluetooth mouse, bluetooth keyboard and hdmi cable in my bag when i could simply carry a laptop.
