Duplex Vs. Decora Electrical Outlets

What is the difference between a standard duplex outlet and Decora? I’ll shed some light on the difference and what Decora means as you will encounter, or may have already encountered, this term frequently when working on electrical projects.

Kleenex is not tissue paper it is facial tissue. I wouldn't use tissue paper as a facial tissue.

Xerox paper or box is generic term for copier paper or the typical box 5000 pages come in

So what is the correct "generic" word that means the Decora design? (like Skid Steer Loader / Tissue Paper in your other examples)

I've switched over to all decora outlets and switches. It makes our 1980 built house look more modern. I don't think it matters that much though, function wise.

Decora all the way. Easier to clean, uses the same face plates at the light switches and they just look nicer. The light switches can also be turned on or off with your elbow if you have your hands full, say a laundry basket or grocery bags in both hands.
