But if I try to start it back up after it's sits for less than 10 minutes, it dies, I have tried many things in your vids, taking your advice and all. It runs amazing outside of this issue. I have changed the spark plugs, spark plug wires, distributor cap, pickup coil, I take care of it and don't run it hard, any advice?

Nope, Scotty called the 1999 to 2006 Celica crap because of its bad Yamaha engine design. He's said the same thing in other videos in the past. Just because a particular model of a car has the same name doesn't mean it has the same quality and longevity as an earlier car with that name. Sooooo.... Toyota's not "bringing back the Celica/Supra" these days: they're just launching totally different cars with the same names.
And as Scotty just admitted yesterday: the 1996 Acura Integra is EVEN BETTER than the '94 Celica. That vid made me feel so good I drove my 97 Integra with 245K on the clock to work today. And yes, its AC still "blows ice cold"!!

Windows, locks, electric steering motor, Sunroof Motor, Hatch motor, rust...All those are not really preventable by driving slower/maintenance. Same with Nissan's CVT's or many DCT's. These engines had a couple of small issues (lift bolts, which is a very easy fix and was resolved in 2003) and the oil pan issue you mentioned (that is also easy to fix with a 1ZZ oil pan or a good aftermarket one for aggressive track racing), but otherwise they are excellent and have held up very well. Oil pump failures have happened to these pretty much exclusively because of driver error, dropping down into the wrong gear.
My 2003 Celica GT-S has a 2ZZ-GE with 355,000 km on it. It is flawless. No leaks, works like new.

First of all, I love your channel to death, now secondly, you can't be any more wrong about this. I have a 2000 Celica GTS with the 2zz engine, manual transmission, bought her new 19 years ago, as of now she has 360,000 miles on the engine, the ORIGINAL engine. She is driven hard ever since I bought her, and has not broken down even once, never left me stranded. The horror stories about this car, were often caused by people miss shifting, because of the close gate 6 speed, where you accidentally shift from top of 3th back to second instead of 4th, and you guessed it, boom. Drive it everyday, change oil every 3000 miles, and it will last you. Take care Scotty.

love the content. I owned a 1995 Celica with the 1.8 engine and a 5 speed and loved it. In fact, I'd have to say I beat the heck out of that thing and it never failed. I sold it with 230K on it and it still ran great but for the a/c not working. I have to ask though, about Mazdas. I do not disagree about the wisdom of avoiding rotary engines (though they are a lot of revvy fun) and heat exchange and direct injection engines, for maintenance reasons. I have owned a couple of Mazdas that had what we might call a normal 4 cylinder engine and a manual transmission and they seemed basically bulletproof. One was a 1992 B2200 pickup that routinely carried more weight than it was supposed to and didn't even get proper maintenace (I was young and stupid and didn't even know I was supposed to regularly change the oil). The other is my current car: a 2007 Mazda 3 with about 130K on it. I've never had problem 1, and it drives better than anything in the same price range, especially on twisty roads. I don't disagree about the rotaries or other stuff, but do you think a Mazda with a relatively "normal" 4 cylinder + 5 speed manual is a bad choice? Because I have to say they're more fun to drive than most competitors and just as reliable.

Friend of mine got 2000 Celica 1.8vvt-i 140bhp, 6 speed manual.. what a great build little fast thing! He got it for 350€, needed front brake pads, 4 spark plugs, oil and filters!
Everything else was stunning, clicking and working like Swiss watch!
We drove that Celica through the whole europe during holidays and the following car for the trip (Opel Meriva 1.3cdti) (Italian jtd-M engine) had a alternator failure half the trip. We had to stop every 10miles and exchanging battery’s between the Celica and the Meriva. Day and night! The Toyota never broke down, simple 2 door small car but so well built!

Toyota/Yamaha joint ventures have delivered great results, from the original Toyota 2000GT, to my current dream car, the Lexus LFA.. And of course, everyone's favorite, the Legendary 2JZ.....
But, the 2ZZ was apparently not one of their best efforts, it was unreliable, and it wasn't even very good performance either! The cam came on so late, even if you shifted at redline it fell off the lift powerband. At least on the US spec Celicas I drove.. An old friends Elise did the same.
