    Man, I love to play my Uke, I can spend hours and hours. I think, it's one of the loveliest instruments in the world. And you are such great musician. Usually, when I watch a tutorial, I use to stop it, just to try, what ive just seen. But in your case, I'm sitting there, watch the hole video and injoy your lovely playing. Here and there with my mouth open, for it's such a hard work for me and it looks amazing easy, when you play it. Right this is the reason, why I wanted to start the uke. To play the strumming rhythm and the melody at fhe same time, so listners can hear two instruments playing. I love, what you do and I thank you for time and your work, sharing your knowledge and your experience. If I could just find a teacher like you, down here in Germany... 😂
    By the way... Congratulations for becoming a dad 🎉, my youngest son is 18 months 🙈 what a great time that is. Best of luck!

    This is great Marco - been trying to figure this out since your Part 1 video :) Great instruction and explanation as always and this so fun to play. Wanted to comment about that D chord, my fingers are too big (or my ukulele too small) to cram all three fingers in there to do the hammer on pull off successfully. I did discover I could accomplish the sound by using my middle finger to get both strings 2 and 3 together and could do that hammer on pull off with my ring finger. Seems to work. Thanks again.

    • @MarcoCirilloUkulele
      @MarcoCirilloUkulele  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Absolutely. It’s a little unconventional but if it works for you, go for it. Also try to use finger 2 and 3 and do the hammer on and pull off with the little finger.

    Hi Marco, first off, congratulations on the birth of your baby. My question to you is do you use a specific string on your ukulele? I recently decided after watching your video to learn to play. But I cannot match your sound. Do I need a more “expensive “instrument? I am trying tenors but either sound like a guitar or a cat. Any help welcomed.

    • @taniamatthewson1195
      @taniamatthewson1195 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi, if you can go to a music store they should be able to help you out. The type of wood matters, as well as the string brand. Aquila strings are always a nice go to.

    • @FenrirInFlowers
      @FenrirInFlowers 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It looks to me like Marco is using Aquila Nylgut strings (which are pretty common). I would say the sweet sound is largely a product of his excellent finger position when fretting. Getting your fingers right up behind those fret wires makes a big difference in how clean the notes sound.
      Tone woods do play a role. It doesn't mean it has to be super expensive, but a solid top and wood choices can affect the sound, projection, and sustain. You might want to listen to a few woods known for being sweet sounding and different from guitars. Acacia and mango might appeal to you. A nice solid mahogany top can be very warm and wonderful too.

    • @MarcoCirilloUkulele
      @MarcoCirilloUkulele  3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Hi Nigel. To be honest (and I don’t mean to sound like someone cool) I bought this uke in 2019 and I never changed the strings so I don’t know which brand I am currently playing.
      Regarding the tone. The plucking and fretting hand make a huge difference in how your ukulele sounds. If you are a beginner the chances are that you are still learning so give yourself a little bit of time.
      Nylon strings are amazing and can provide a huge range of dynamics and timbre (way more than steel strings). However, they work a lot like a white canvas. It’s your hand doing the painting and deciding the color.
      Good news, you already figured that out so keep playing and practicing and focus a lot on how you pluck the strings.
      Once you can get the best possible tone out of your (I presume) cheap ukulele, go try a better one.
      I hope this helps.

    Hi! i hope you respond to this but i have a question about your ukulele. is your ukulele a baritone or a concert? also when i try to do the "hammer on" technique it feels like you cant hear it that much unlike you, you do it with ease and you can hear it loud and clear or maybe its because of your sweet microphone? not sure. im a begginer so i shouldn't expect much when i can't do this type of trick yet but it doesn't sound as precise as you do. I hope you reply to this. have a good day!

    • @wallflora
      @wallflora 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      two tips! if you dry hammer, (I don't know if that's the phrase) but basically if you hammer on without strumming before, there isnt going to be much sound as the strings aren't moving at all. it could also be that you have to press harder. you also might want to check on your ukulele. if it doesn't make any noise it could be something wrong with the fretboard, although usually you just need to press a little harder on the strings to get clearer sound. hope this helps!
