I feel like I’ve lost a friend. We all have. Thank you Jimmy. You made the world a better place.
Jimmy was just there to make sure you had a good time. I got to go to 3 of his concerts, he succeeded every time. I did meet and talk to him, he's exactly what you'd expect, he wasn't acting, that was just Jimmy.
Jimmy Buffet (December 25, 1946 - September 1, 2023) ... wherever you are... I hope they're serving the best cheeseburgers and margueritas.. a crystal shaker of salt on a gold chain on your neck! Who else could earn up a BILLION dollars and leave a smile on every face & never lose his own! Never forget my RA at college waking up every morning with a FULL playing of "God's Own Drunk" ... ah now that was a year!
Every Parrothead I meet instantly becomes a new friend. So thankful for this man and his music.
This was a real gut punch. It's like I've lost a family member. Jimmy's been there when nobody else was. Sail on, Sailer.
I am so Sad
He may be the most interesting artist ever. Country didn't want him, rock didn't either and he wasn't folk. He was his very own thing. Amazing. To me he was a tropical country rock folk kinda artist. My point is he was his own and there will never be another anything like him.
And i loved him
That's very valid point. John Denver was a lot like that as well. I still miss him so much. Really though it's testament to both of them that they both had their own unique and really dedicated fan bases and they were both in the game so long. Genre is getting more and more fluid. It kind of proves what I have thought all along, it was contrived by radio and recording industry who needed to lump music into categories in order to showcase and sell it. Buuuut radio is dead. And albums are sold mostly digitally. Bands broker and promote their own music and the fans decide what they like without near as much business influence. It's about time. Let the artist do their art.
I guess that’s why Jimmy called his music “Shrimp Rock”. My 1st time ever hearing this cut & I love it!!
Very well said. Not trying to steal your comment, but I think John Prine was in the same ... *ahem* ... boat.
I'm glad to have known them both!
@@sebastianositaliano6360 oh yeah Prine too. Good call! I think the best fit for any of these guys was that singer songwriter thing. Jackson Browne. Tom Petty. John Mellencamp, Paul Simon. Jim Croce, Cat Stevens, Delbert McClinton, Bruce Hornsby, Keb Mo. They all crossed a lot of boundaries thank goodness. It is what made them so special.
I am a diver. Over 500 dives to my name. Now brain tumor. I want one last dive trip.Pain is bad but I want to dive. JB keeps me going.
Hang in there. Plan your dive and dive your plan.☮️
Mother Ocean will take you in her arms, my friend.
Hey man, look. Do your dive, if you don't you'll always regret it for the rest of your life when you won't be able to. Go for it, you'll be glad you did
Get wet, brother.
It's a great day to have a great day. Get it done. FamilyStrong.
Sail on into that Key West sunset. We'll have your treasure trove of music to listen to for the rest of our days. ❤ RIP Jimmy Buffett
This hits deep 😢
Jimmy was one of the reasons I started playing guitar! Playing this on the beach in Key West is quite the experience. Rip Jimmy!
I just can't believe you're gone Jimmy...it doesn't sound right. We need you now more than ever..your show was one of the greatest I've ever seen..and I've seen a LOT. Love you Jimmy. Thanks for your unswerving honesty, humor, and thought-provoking lyrics and music. I know you're finally resting in your "one particular harbour" 😭🌊🎙️💜
Hang in there Brother!!
You ain t too far gone.
I would bet you have quite a few diving trips to take before you leave this world to party with Jimmy. Stay strong and stay happy.
😪
I don’t get upset when celebrities pass away, but I have so many memories of his songs and memories of the south Florida area and Key West where I grew up. I was really upset when I heard this legend had passed. Thanks for the memories Jimmy, I will miss you!❤❤❤❤
Wot a great song.....
Back in the 70's Jimmy was the sound track of my life.
His music is part of my adult life. Over the decades so much great music. His loss was a shock. He made so many people happy.
I feel like I've lost a brother.
A light just went out in this crazy world . RIP Sir you were a legend 🙏
You sir sit in that legend catagory so when you say that about Jimmy it means even more!
So true.❤
He was the Smugglers Poet.
He did his share.
In those heady times, most of who could, did.
Wild and wonderful times.
Rest in peace, poet.
You are loved.
Was, is and will be a legend forever
Never been the emotional type when a celebrity passes, but this one hits hard. Sail on brother, sail on calm, happy seas strumming your six string. RIP Jimmy
Yeah Jimmy and Chris are the only two that have hurt like this
Right there with you.
I’ve followed jimmy since 1974. Yes this hit very hard.
@@tonys1202 this just came on my YT feed and I started to tear up. I miss him so much already. I can't listen to his music all the time yet. Just little bits.
The second that I heard you passed, Jimmy, I started to think of this song.
From my parents playing it for me 40 years ago, to singing it myself, it still resonates in my heart and soul.
Fair winds and calm seas, Jimmy. Save my mom a seat at your first concert up there.
My ex was American and I had not heard of this man until he took me to California , San Jose , I saw him in a small concert
I fell in love with so many of his songs and so sad I feel as I heard San Francisco is in need of song and kind
Bless all over there who were devoted fans
Music song that you love
The words come back pretty damn fast
Like this song to me
Rest in divine peace
Oh Jimmy you’ll be missed… I can’t even think how many times I’ve listened to your music and found myself in your songs. Sleep well kind Sir.
RIP Jimmy. Your music will live forever 😢
The Pirate has left Margaritaville. You made your mark on and in people's lives and that is a some legacy. Thanks for everything.
When I need to unwind and forget about the stresses in my life, I turn on Jimmy Buffet. What a special gift he was.
I'm devastated, been crying all day, listening to the man who gave me my love of the sea, more than any other. This is maybe his best, but he wrote SO many great ones. He will NEVER be replaced. Gone WAY too soon. Dammit, Jimmy, we needed you for so much longer.......RIP, Pirate
Yup, he's the reason I moved near the ocean. Legend gone too soon.
Keep playing this song. Brings me to tears.
Miss you Jimmy!!!!
I loved him so much. He will always hold a place in my heart. always. what a big loss to the world.
Became a fan 40 years ago and will remain a ParrotHead til I die. Pirates & Parrots
Thank You and I AGREE With You 🎶🌅💦🌴🦜
RIP Jimmy. Thank you for the music and all the joy it spread.
RIP Jimmy Buffett. I am 62 years old. He has been the songwriter of my life.
For me as well. I’m 😞 lost and in shock still. I’m listening to all of his music 🎶.. till we meet again, my friend.🌈☀️⭐️💫🌟🌝🌴
Agreed. 62 myself.
62 here also! This song came out in 1974 when I was 13 I am a connoisseur of music all kinds of music yet not once did I ever hear this song on the radio TV or anywhere until just yesterday on Facebook someone posted this! I am blown away by this version. Such a great song and it’s taking me almost 50 years to find it. Wow so glad I found it.
@@LesSmith45 better late then never Sir.
Me too. Same age.
After I got out of the Army I slid on down to Key West. Convinced my wife and another couple to move down there too. We were going to get jobs and live down there. After all the playing we ran out money (Did too much fishing and other stuff. After that we went back to Texas and got on with our lives…
However; I never stopped going down there through all the years and now keep my boat “Sacrifice” down there. We sail to the Dry Tortuga’s and over to the Bahamas. Yes, Jimmy Buffet is still 😊number one on our playlist.
OMG. the three of them singing this song is so much loved! Jimmy, Zac, and MAC! My tears are filling my eyes and running down my face!
I'm crying too. When I lived in the Virgin islands, the music they played the most was JImmy Buffett and reggae.
RIP Jimmy, You and your music are a national treasure, especially in the Florida Keys.....
Can't watch this and not cry. I loved this man so much.
Jimmy’s songs will live on forever.
This song alone makes him a legend. A good man is gone. Let’s always remember the good ones.
One of the nicest, cleanest renditions of this Jimmy Buffett classic. Beautiful!
I think Jimmy was a great song writer.
He felt like a friend and most definitely made me as a music lover to look farther and wider at all music.
For that I am grateful.
Thank You Good Sir, and may you rest in peace.
Rip Jimmy.....This loss is going too stay with us but he left us his music to enjoy!!!!
Jimmy Buffett’s quintessential song I believe. As a young songwriter, this song and many others are always meant to be played on the acoustic guitar, in a matter to tell a story through feeling and artistry. As stated in other comments, Jimmy routinely performs this song with different improvisations… always a good time, however this version may be the finest orchestration of lyric and instrument dynamically captured by modern recording methods…. Perfection. I love the purity, solemnness of this song and the picture it paints. I too identify with the story it tells, on many levels. Although I’ve heard it 1000 times never get tired of it… I cannot recall very many songs that achieve this. Jimmy Buffett’s Pirate at 40 is a gift to those us who understand and identify with the story.
I don’t imagine Jimmy has all that many performing years left in him… and ultimately when Jimmy finally sets sail and leaves this planet, it will be a sad day for all of us, enjoy him while he’s still here! Well done, sir, a true artist and phenomenal songwriter.
Thank you my friend for this great song . I consider it the Anthem of My Life, how I lived.
Can't wait to join you and hear you and the Bob Roberts Society Band jamming. Till then, smooth sailing .R.I.P.🏝️🕔⛵🍔
Wow you had a premonition whether you knew it or not … kind words Jimmy was one of a kind . Sail on sailor, see you on the other side ❤
This was sung exactly as it should have been. And, sadly, Jimmy has now set sail.
Prophetic words, my friend.
This one hit really hard. Rest in Peace, Jimmy. Fair winds and following seas. 😢
I am still in mourning, no more concerts or should I say parties, that’s what a JB concert was. We lost an amazing entertainer.
I have been so sad since I heard of Jimmy's passing. He's the guy that we all thought would live forever, always giving us great music and inspiration. I feel like I've lost a friend. Jimmy, you will be loved and forever missed! RIP sir and thank you for all that you gave me!!!
There is something so depressing when you enjoy the God given talents of someone who brings such pleasure to the world, knowing it will never happen again.
May you always have fair winds and following seas. Rest in Peace Jimmy.
Zac made Jimmy proud with that verse!!
RIP Jimmy, Thank You for the memories and the music.!
I can't get my mind around it. RIP Jimmy.
Wow. Goosebumps....That was awesome...We lost a great soul and person....May his music live on forever....Love you Jimmy....
I didnt realize how much Jimmy influenced Zac Brown's singing style. Their voices blend really well.
I feel sorry for anyone who would dislike this version of the song.
What dislikes?
Absolutely Scott., in fact I’ll also add, that any song of this type and caliber should be nothing but “Liked” it speaks to a persons inner self. 🤗🤗 I hope you get your last dive in. 🤗🤗👍👍
Sincerely,
Arthur (Art)
If you get this, write back as I’d love to know if you got it 👍👍
@@jorgeregueiro8489 he was just saying that why anyone would dislike such a lovey wonderful song.
Or any version
R.I.P. Jimmy Buffet ♡ thank you for all the awesome songs!
Hello there 👋
How are you?
Great music. No computerized sound. Back when they really played their instruments and no backup recording to rely on. Allman Brothers Band are always music for the heart and soul.
Having lived my life differently than most people; I have always identified with the meaning of this song.
The most beautiful version of this lovely song. Fins up Jimmy.
Agree. Best version of this song ever!
OMG! Love you Jimmy, I grew up with your music & still entertain 53 yrs later. I love how comfortable you are with BARE FEET on stage! My kinda guy. Beach Bum. RIP Jimmy. All my tequila shots are for you.
Hey there
How are you?
Farewell Jimmy - I played a parrot head gig last night - I didn't know Jimmy was gone - Had I known I don't know how I could have gotten through it. I closed my set with "False Echoes" ...Now Jimmy sails the endless sea with his father. ..."Now the old Chicamauga, has slipped by the ways, she lies on the bottom, of old Mobile bay, where the ghosts of his father, and his brothers are near .... And the wind went away in... September '23 ... God Bless jimmy, fair winds and following seas... 🙏⛵
That's beautiful @cynthiak3376, is that a lyric? I'm about 30 minutes from chiamaugua
Mac is the best singer/songwriter/musician that most folks have never heard of! Guy is a genius!
Hopefully Mac will keep the band going. There will never be another Jimmy. But we still have his music and who knows maybe Mac can add to the big 12
One of my all time favorite songs! This is a great version with Zac Brown.
This is one of my favs. The other is Son of a Son
And don’t forget the great Mac McAnally!
Mac is always in the back ground making everyone else look good.

What a SONG!!! it just transports me to peaceful and calm seas. 💜
Hello Betty 👋
Sitting up in Canada looking at a beautiful sunny day without a cloud in sight. The snow is beautiful, with temperatures around 0C or 32F. However, when this song comes on, I'm transported to a beautiful beach down south. RIP Jimmy, fair winds and following seas!🍹🦜
Dear Jimmy, it still hurts, too young to have left us rudderless, Sept.1st, damn what will we do when we've expected to see you when you came around, damn Jimmy your missed. What I do have to tell you is your final masterpiece "Bubbles Up" has personal meaning, my beautiful daughter fights depression and when the sea becomes a little rough, I send her your song. I truly believe it helps her manage. God only knows how much your missed. See you on the other side on that beautiful beach.
Beautiful , just beautiful , nuff said . RIP Jimmy you were the best 🫡
The world is a sadder place without Jimmy RIP.
Well, I am in tears. Jimmy, Mac and Zac. I mean, REALLY? Absolute perfection. And Jimmy with no shoes!!!!!!!
He blew out his flip flops.
@@charlesdriscoll3487 LOL - Good one. I don't say that often.
I don’t think there’s many that realize the incredible talent of the man who’s closest, in this view. He’s not only a terrific “Coral Reefer”- but an excellent singer- songwriter, in his own right. (Mac McAnally wrote “It’s My Job”, which he and Jimmy have each recorded). Mac has a deep & beautiful voice and he’s a Well-above-average guitar player, also! He has numerous albums out, on his own, and his music and lyrics are really worth listening to!
I have actually been a fan of Mac's as long as I have been a fan of Jimmy's. I fell in love with Mac in 1977 with his release of his first album and that amazing song, Crazy World. I was, of course, already a huge fan of Jimmy's. Crazy how they got together. I know Mac must be really hurting right now and I pray for him. It's been a horrible weekend. :( @@danielhoskins976
Shoes were prohibited on the beaches of SW Alabama, flip flops were acceptable, barely. Barefeet are almost mandatory.
Almost (probably all) his songs, I was there. Sailing the islands starting early 80s, the in and outs of life, "I've see it all," he captured the realness of life, of life of a sailor. Even "Cheese Burger In Paradise," a man can only eat so much lobster, grouper and conch (almost). Even kept me focused on "why we ride the carousel" while undergoing radiation procedure for 3 months (choice of what to listen to while lying there). Almost selfish to say he will be missed but I say it with love, appreciation, a shared knowing . . . Oh, and slather the sun screen, skin can treatment gets old.
Not sure how this came up tonight on my TH-cam jag...but I'm glad it did...sort of. It still breaks my heart that Jimmy is gone. Beautiful song, beautifully sung. Thank you Jimmy.
This song is sooooooo great with Zac Brown Band & Jimmy Buffett.😊🎉❤
Think of all the smiles he put on people’s faces through the decades. Family vacations at the beach playing JB, it’s beautiful. Forget about all your problems 👍👍
There will never be a sound like Jimmy Buffett had! Outstanding ❤
I miss him so much. My son and I danced mother son dance to this at his wedding! Miss you Jimmy!
I came to Brazil in 1976 to meet my now wife. This South Georgia boy brought 1 record with him, A white sport coat and a pink crustacean. I arrived in Rio a week ago and heard that Jimmy had passed. A sad irony. We all lost a friend. Thanks my friend for the memories that I’ll cherish forever.
Yes, I feel like I've lost a friend, fellow sailor, romantic. Jimmy we miss you
Goddamn, so relevant and beautiful. I miss Jimmy.
Jimmy Buffett you was awesome!! You will missed. I pray for your family. ❤
It's been a bitter sweet Jimmy Buffett music day. So many great songs! Can't wait to hear the new album. 😥
Tears and margaritas and smiles all day man
“If there's a heaven for me, I'm sure it has a beach attached to it” - Jimmy Buffett....I refuse to let myself get sad about the passing of the truly remarkable Jimmy Buffet cause I know he is sitting on that beach making even better music...Rest In Peace, thank you for providing the soundtrack of my life.
The World is truly a little sadder today
RIP Jimmy
You were LEGEND
☠️🏴☠️🏴☠️😢☠️
RIP JIMMY!!! Spent some time out on those oceans, saw some of the most beautiful sunrises & sunsets I've ever seen. That was when I wasn't too tired from working the hours we worked at sea. Don't think when I ever go out on the water I won't somehow think of you and this song, as well as some others. As Bob Hope said Thanks for the memories! Fair winds & following seas Jimmy! FLY NAVY!!!
I was devastated when he passed. I am much older since I first discovered Jimmy Buffety while on vacation.in the Bahamas. His music still fills my soul with a serene lifestyle.
This one. Man JB. You reminded me of my dad l. He passed in 1997. I mourned him again upon your passing.
15 years in the gulf of Mexico to be retired by an unpreventable tragedy. I doubt I'll ever see the sun rise and set over the gulf again... but in this song, I remember.
Summer is officially over, not the same without Jimmy. RIP Jimmy.
I am heartbroken. We lost a legend and a friend! RIP Jimmy, we will miss you! 😭
Legend…he will be missed❤ RIP Pirate!
So fortunate to have had the opportunity to see him live in concert multiple times over his career. He may have passed but will live on in my soul as I will listen to his music till I m gone as well. RIP sir!
Such a beautiful song. We’ll all really miss him. A true American Icon. Successful in many ways. Just such fun. 😢
Hey there
How are you?
The end of an era. My heart hurts.
I love this song so much. Brings me to tears every single time.
Jimmy always seems to improvise his live songs, but seems to be serious on this one. I appreciate that.
I love this comment. Sometimes he improvises too much, but this song seems to hold a little extra meaning for him
@@a.j.495When in the presence of Zac Brown (a phenomenal musician) perhaps one is best served to step up their game.
He does not have to step up his game 🥰
One of my favorite Jimmy Buffett songs. Love this rendition so much. ❤️
🎧Thanks for commenting on my page, I never knew our song still touches the heart of many, i hope you never stop listening to my songs?
I can only imagine how Mac must feel after playing with Jimmy for so many years. Fair winds, Pirate.
Hi 👋
How are you feeling?
Sail on sailor to God's Heavenly shores...Jimmy Buffett...what a beautiful soul...Rest in Paradise.
I discovered Jimmy by accident some 45 years ago and fell in love with his music instantly. I have looked forward to new music from him ever since. Jimmy was/is my 'go to' whenever things are getting me down. Needless to say, his music has been on high rotation since I heard the news. He spread joy without trying and will be sorely missed by all of us 'parrot heads'. Go softly to a well-earned rest. I look forward to catching more of your concerts and having ''a cheeseburger in Paradise'. RIP Jimmy Buffet.
Jimmy Buffet went to his "one particular harbor " yesterday,Sept 1,2023.
Man....he sure will be missed...
What a life Jimmy Buffet lead. A life many people only dream about. Jimmy had a terrific stage presence . He drew his strength from his fans and his fans from him. Thank you for taking me on an incredible journey. Rest in peace James
Comments on the previous , I was born and raised right here on the Gulf of Mexico , pretty much the FL/Al line , seen him at the flora/bama un announced several times , the most when I say most genuine person I have ever met in my life , you will truly be missed
Hard to believe Jimmy is in his 70s still sounding great!!!

His concerts are as good now as they ever were! I have seen him 6-7 times since 1982 and he is still an entertainer's entertainer!

Looks great. What a life
Apparently this was back in 2010 so he was in his 60s. But your point stands, he sounds great here
I’m gonna miss Jimmy Buffett so much. This is a great performance! I can’t believe Mac McAnally doesn’t even get a mention here! Another fantastic singer/songwriter! He wrote Chesney’s Down The Road and Sawyer Brown’s All These Years.
RIP Sailor!! Bubbles Up!!

You left us on Friday and on Saturday we drink margaritas and eat cheeseburgers in honor of you, you the King of easy living and enjoyment of Life. I salute you sir and pray that you finally found your lost salt shaker in paradise....
My all time favorite song as I have been blessed to have seen Jimmy so many times as I grew up in the panhandle of Florida born and raised in Gulf Breeze, FL.
I then relocated down here to the Keys for a while then back to St Petersburg.
Currently I went back to the Island of Cozumel as I have always been a wanderer, but will have Jimmy by my side thru his music!
We have ALL LOST A Friend but we can all SMILE for what he gave us ❤️🎶🌅💦🌴

Our universal friend....Jimmy Buffet. Thank you, sir.
I remember him from McGill. He was three yrs. ahead of me. Being from the coast we all shared and held a lot of the same wishes and dreams. Adios brother, a pirate goes to heaven.
