I personally loved how the first major boss, General Yingzhao, was built to be a test of whether you understood the parry mechanics. Because before then, I was still playing like I played Hollow Knight, and dodging all of the attacks. The parry tutorial and talisman system didn't make sense to me at first (I have not played Sekiro or any other parry based games). So Yingzhao kicked my butt because they had a lot of dodge catching moves, and they hit hard. But once I learned how to parry, everything clicked. By the time I got to the final boss, I really enjoyed it (and good luck beating the true final boss without parries. I don't even know if that is possible).
Idk how you can even play this game without learning how to parry. The first boss makes it very apparent very quickly that you are absolutely not beating him unless you get good and learn how to parry. I realized that when I tried to dash away from one of his moves and he proceeded to clip out of his own attack animation and strike me from across the arena with a "melee" attack. Not that I'm complaining. This game is crazy fun, but the entry learning curve is surprising at first.
@@MarcusDortch-Staten Yeah, but you can get past everything before the first real boss without actually having to do it. Once you get to him though, it's literally impossible to win without having a firm grasp on parrying.
I recently completed it, it's a solid 8.5/10 for me. It does satisfy that sekiro itch for me and the boss fights are really good once you understand the rhythm of the battle. My only gripe with the game is I wish we had more 1v1 proper sword fight duels in the game like the final boss fight and jiquan, there are some boss fights like goumang and the twins which weren't very satisfying to fight.
EXACTLY. The bosses who'd actually fight you themselves, like General Yingzhao, were awesome. The ones who would fight indirectly, like Ji, were not that great.
This game is SOOO good. What a surprise, I didn't think I'd love it this much. I got stuck on Owl in Sekiro and decided to check this out. Now I can't put it down. I've died so many times to what felt like some bs, but still I cannot put it down. I think it might be better than Hollow Knight in my eyes. The story too, is so gripping. I'm sad that it's almost over, I wish it was longer.
I just started playing Nine Sols a couple days ago. Getting use to the parry system is tricky, im still trying to master it. Trying to get the timing down isn't easy
@@VocaDollGW2 If you mean Dark Souls and Sekiro are different than each other, no one said they're not. But if you mean Sekiro and Nine Sols are different than each other, well the devs said they were inspired by three games: Sekiro, Hollow Knight and Katana Zero
@@OldSoulGames I meant Dark Souls and Sekiro are different from each other, much like Elden Ring and Nine Sols are different from each other. I am also a huge fan of Katana Zero for the same obvious reasons. Hollow knight is also awesome, with its metroidvania grind and explore aspect, but the boss battles are mostly dodge focused. I feel like Nine Sols took the best elements of Hollow Knight and combined it with the best elements of Katana Zero and Sekiro.
After beating yingzhao I thought my parry skills were finally decent, but I still die to normal mobs all the time 😭😭😭 they don't telegraph as slow as he does and they are so small it's hard for me to see it
Если ты прошел босса в dark souls only parry то ты крутой. Но если ты прошел босса в nine sols only parry то это обыкновенное прохождение без челленджа. Я очень сомневаюсь, что без парирования можно пройти игру и при этом получить удовольствие
If you mean the one with green aura, yes, it's a little hard to learn. But trust me, When you get the hang of it, it becomes fun and easy. It's all about the timing, and it's really vital to the game, so try to learn it sooner. But if you mean the other crimson attack, (without green aura) you'll learn a skill to counter it later on.
i thought this game was very easy. and i hate the level design and the no skippable scenes.but yeah once you get the greeen parry / red charge parry your a god

That's great. Well not everyone has played Blasphemous, and even if they did, not everyone rely on parry to finish it. I myself played most of the game with dodging. So much later on I found out I needed to learn how to parry. Thanks for watching and commenting.

Couldn't have said it better myself. When you realize you have to rely on parry, something clicks in your mind and it becomes a completely new game.
Parrying make nine sols feel like peeking opera, the sound effect is so satisfying.
Well said. I like unbound counter's sound effect even more, but unfortunately that's rare to hear.
The sound is key haha.
Sekiro vs Genichiro sword clangs
Anything else

Oh man i just want to watch some tips video without all the boss spoilers
Parrying everytbing the final boss had made the fight ridiculously cinematic. Especially when dashing through each other using talismans
It's like those anime fight scenes when you can't understand what's happening, but you know it's fire.
Yeah i tried dodging the 1st centaur boss and wondered wtf i was doing wrong after dying 40 times i realized parrying was the way.
Exactly. I was thinking: "Even Dark Souls wasn't this hard." Then I realized you can't do it parryless.

I’m never good at parry and this game forces me to learn how to. I’ve been stuck on the first area with actually enemy and combat for literal DAYS
I promise, it's worth it. When that click happens and you finally learn it, you're in for a hell of a ride.
Thanks for watching.
im 3 hours into the 1st boss and still cant time the parrys right.smh
The first major boss you come across will show you how important parrying is.
