I just paused to remind everyone watching this now that Ruby's not using a shotgun. She's using a Sniper Rifle, which means she's making all those precise shots, with no scope on a weapon meant to use a scope. Just another thing she lost in later seasons.
To my understanding this was Monty Onum's last series. Rip Monty. You're beautiful inside and out

Was only very recently introduced to this by a friend. This comes from someone with a relatively decent background in various martial arts regarding armed or unarmed combat, and I must say this is very well done. It is such a shame that such talent was taken away from us so quickly, Rest well, Monty Oum.
like many great artists, he was taken too soon. BUT! he left behind a legacy to live up to. the man spent so much time animating, that he had no time for anything else. THIS TRAILER! was what he did in his spare time while being the animator for red vs blue....and rooster teeth green lit rwby.
Every single Monty Oum fight is a masterpiece.

I like how the scythe turns into a war scythe, which fixes the problem of the blade edge being at a 90 degree angle (I mean, the recoil also helps with that, but still), I don't know why people don't incorporate this in crescent rose replicas.

Yep, War scythe mode. I can only think of 2 times Ruby ever used it.

I watched this video (because I'm am not interested in supplementary content or trailers), and when I noticed that feature, I was shooketh and wanted to see if anyone else saw this and knew what is was. Why isn't this aspect of her weapon used more often? Did Roosterteeth just forget about it?
@@ironicprofilepic6367 Being the well trained warrior that Ruby is, I think she only uses war scythe mode in scenarios where it would be more effective than its regular scythe mode. Said scenarios being uncommon.
@@peterwright5358 uncommon? What do you think the name "war scythe" suggests? It was repurposed for war, and war encourages effectiveness and efficiency. Said scenarios where it would be more effective would be most scenarios. The enemy doesn't use shields and the enemy doesn't use pole arms. Having it in war scythe mode more often is a no brainer, it extends her reach and provides a better blade to shaft ratio (means you have more blade to effectively cut with). The only advantage there is to its usual mode is that stabbing attacks are more effective (but hoe often does she stab).
Skallagrim and Shadiversity both made pretty good videos on War Scythes.

Still the best trailer for RWBY ever.
It's such a shame that it's been warped beyond recognition and been used as nothing more than a cash grab since its creator's death. I wish Monty had survived to make this series as bad ass as it appears here. It never had the best writing, never had the best animation, but it definitely had a ton of spirit, potential, and some amazing choreography.

Rwby before it was striped of its soul . Thank you for Monty making this series and I'm sad this series will never live to it's full potential under your guidance.
I mean no disrespect to monty, I enjoy his work and his passion, but I disagree with your statement. Monty had great ideas and more preferable plans for the series, but he would animate things ahead of the time and the writers would be forced to bullshit their way towards those premade animations. Is it his fault that the writers couldn't bullshit to the animation in a better way? No, it is also and mostly the fault of the writers, but his tendency to throw animations and ideas was damaging. Monty and Roosterteeth had bad communication and conflicting ways to tell a story. That being said, I would definitely prefer Monty's vision over what Roosterteeth made.

you 3 look realy negative ye ok i came to the series only 7 days back i watched the whole series 2 times soon i start run 3 but what they do is good too good fight ,. good character telling good drama. i not think the series can live with only jokes and the low quality from season1 and2 also the grafics. they do too a good job and i want 200 more seasons of this series its epic and fantastic . this monti drama is like jack sparrow jonny not on board so no pirates of the karibian . ye good is always super but you can not get what you want then you need to do it yourself.
All of their trailers were so good but I liked this one the most. The fighting style and choreography is amazing.

Dude Monty was a beast at this stuff, DUDE, the fucking writers just have to watch the trailers and they will see all the signs and examples that Monty left for them, all the battles all the mistakes they make in the newer seasons are fixable if they just spend an hour looking at the trailers and understanding what Monty left for them, in all the time i have been watching RWBY i just realized about the war scythe and it is so obvious + it is something that after Monty's passing was never seen again.

IKR, But I'm done being upset at Rooster Teeth, I'm done with the show. Monty and RWBY changed my life in more ways I can number rn. BUT I'M NOT DONE WITH RWBY. Rooster Teeth's show can burn in hell, but I will bring new life to the RWBY. Writing is my passion, and I will never let go of this wasted potential. I'm going to give it the love it deserved. I just started a writing project in where I'm reconstructing RWBY from it's very roots like the 4 trailers and will craft it into a great story. I will do my utmost to preserve the core elements of what makes RWBY, but enriching the characters, changing some events and outcomes and making it overall a far richer story then ever before

At this point I believe Monty would be very disappointed with what has become his of his art from what I hear that rooster teeth pretty much pulled a Disney and pretty much got rid of his vision for rwby and got ride of anyone who shared his vision that was working on the show wich included his wife .
