  • For Caribbean American Heritage Month, WCAPS is excited to release our Panel discussion on "Caribbean American Heritage: International Affairs in the Latin & Caribbean Region (LACR)." Moderated by WCAPS Leader, Deyanira Murga, and featuring our esteemed panelists Marissa Massiah and Gaynel Curry. This discussion will delve into pressing matters affecting the region and the intersectionality of peace, security and conflict transformation efforts within and between the United States and the LACR.

    Deyanira Murga is the Executive Director at Cerberus Risk Advisory Group. Her role involves crafting tailored strategies that ensure unwavering support for our clients' unique security needs. As chair of WCAPS Latin America & Caribbean, I've strengthened our mission through high-quality strategic partnerships, enhancing our collective capability for women, peace and security agenda. With extensive experience in Cyber and AI policy, I'm dedicated to leveraging technology for social good, particularly in crime and violence prevention.
    Gaynel Curry brings over two decades of dedicated service to advancing human rights, gender equality and social justice focusing on empowering communities of African descent worldwide, including as an Independent Expert Member of the United Nations (UN) Permanent Forum on People of African Descent. Curry has a rich background, having served in her government, including as the founding Director of The Bahamas Department of Gender and Family Affairs and in the UN in various capacities in Geneva, New York, Afghanistan, South Sudan, and Timor-Leste.
    Marissa Massiah is a seasoned Human Resources Specialist with over 15 years of experience in the field. Her expertise spans various facets of human resources, including performance management, recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, and organizational development. In addition to her professional pursuits, Marissa is dedicated to advocacy and social responsibility. She serves as a Rights of the Child Commissioner, where she plays a pivotal role in advancing the rights and well-being of children.
