The thickness of the Beckett slab for me is the deciding factor. I’ve seen how flimsy the PSA slabs are and as someone who wants to be able to break out their collection and look at their cards from time to time the thickness of the slab is vital to me.
Psa slabs are thinner than bgs and may feel flimsier when holding but they’ll definitely still protect your cards more than enough. Only way you damage em is carelessness tbh
Becket slabs have UV protection integrated into the plastic which is a plus for display longevity. The cards are also sleeved inside the slab which is a pro or a con depending on the person.
Yeah perfect 10 is what Becketts black label is. I have a few and it subgrades all 10s. (Not saying CGC Perfect is worth as much as Becketts 10. But they are the same grade level)
Yeah but CGC labels are ugooo old and new looking ugooo. Bgs silver , gold and black labels look sooo good it just pops and makes your favorite card looking good like in a tuxedo. PSA is aaaaight better than CGC .
Been getting cards graded with SGC recently, may not be the most valuable choice but for cards I just want to hold it’s nice. The slab makes the card pop way better than PSA or CGC and at 15 bucks a card can’t complain with it.
Just graded for the first time with sgc and was very happy. The cheap price and quick turnaround was great. Love the black borders. I think they match every card way better than any other company. If I plan on keeping something in the collection, it will go to sgc. If I'm flipping something, I'll try psa just for the value on the name. Give it a few years. I think sgc will more than catch up to the other big 3!
I really like the sgc slab look as well. I think once they gain more reputation in the Pokémon community as they have in the sports community, they will become a top player
I just did an sgc submission, it’s not very popular right now but it has so much potential! The slabs are very protective and cool looking. The grading is pretty accurate too
I think a good factor to consider is turnaround time. CGC has your stuff graded and sent out within 2-3 weeks which is super fast compared to bgs and psa who can take up to 1-months. For some collector's getting your cards back quickly can be great and if your purpose was to grade and flip, it's pretty beneficial even if you can't capitalize on the biggest gain.
I signed up for PSA earlier this year and did my first bulk submission after doing two off card submissions last year. I went with PSA cause from my understanding as well from a 8, 9, 10 grade they hold better value, BUT if you know you have an out of the park card, try for that black label.
Loved the topic you addressed, because I recently started buying slabs myself. Unfortunately, You didn’t mention that BGS slabs (seem to) have the card sleeved inside the slab. Would like to know your option about that. Furthermore, totally agree with you on the new looks on the CGC slabs. I really think it is a missed opportunity that they stepped away from the light blue color. I do think they needed a new design, but I miss the light blue colour.
As always really appreciate your community posts like this especially when it comes to collecting!! You definitely helped me a ton in the beginning! As for choice of slab, I gotta go PSA on this one regardless of the allure of BGS, to me the slabs way too thick and PSA just looks so much better in a card case! I did however recently give AGS a try to see how their grading is, plus I do like the label since they updated the design, haven’t got the cards back yet but hoping to get some 9’s and 10’s…meanwhile I have a PSA submission I sent 3 months ago still at PSA so there’s that…lol
My first few graded cards started with PSA, but I know CGC grades more harshly so if you are trying to buy CGC 9 cards, they will be cheaper and you might be able to get a potential PSA 10 on the regrades. Good luck!
I just got a CGC and didn't even realize thats where it was graded because of the black label. I 100% prefer the old blue label with the categories from CGC. The new ones do fall in line with the others as you said, but thats why I liked CGC, they sort of looked more like a playing card and had a fun but professional look to them. The really popped at a distance with the gold 10 and blue background.
crazy thing is everyone forgets about SGC. They have been around I think the second longest. I know they are more known for sports cards, specifically older. But I think you can find sweet deals from them.
Thank you for this video. I'm planning on submitting some of my cards for grading and have spent this past couple of days debating PSA vs CGC, and then instead of actually deciding, today I started thinking about Beckett as an option. Glad I watched this to help me decide.
I hope you went with Beckett. Something about the thicker slab, feel and look makes it feel so much more “premium” their slabs also come with integrated UV protection which means you can display in your home or room and it’ll be fine.
Honestly, I enjoy the blue labels from CGC, and I'm glad I still have the ones that I do. Nothing compares to a PSA slab though, and no slabs fit together in a stack the way that they do.
PSA is generally considered the most reliable by the majority of collectors. a PSA 10 is going to be better and sold for more than a BGS 9.5 or CGC 10. Although it becomes more subjective when you get to lower grades when grading cards. You don't have to stick with one over the other when grading cards.
Thank you so much for this, I've been debating on who to go through for some grading. PSA is tried and true but that black label is just so nice if you can get it
Issue with BGS for me is the hyper focus on centering. I’ve been chasing black labels and have yet to get a 10 centering. Centering literally has nothing to do with the condition or look of the card but rather if the guy who was cutting that day had enough coffee. I just think that hyper focus makes centering the only thing that matters on a card. Which is why I prefer PSA. Fair grading on centering, generally consistent grading.
Great and interesting vid. IMO the PSA label looks nice but they could improve the cheap feeling cases. I hate how the card moves around in the PSA case potentially causing some damage down the road. I think they do this to save money to fit other types of sports cards in the same case but they should do better. Cards in BGS and CGC cases don’t move around in the case. I like the rounded corners on the CGC case; makes the case feel more expensive. I don’t like how big the BGS case is although it’s very protective and expensive feeling and looking. With that said unless I’m hunting black labels I usually send to PSA lol. Oh also I know this changes but BGS bulk takes sooo long to get back. PSA is waaaayyy faster from my experience at this moment in time.
My personal opinion for Pokémon cards is that 98% of the cards aren’t actually “valuable.” For this reason, grading should be done as cheaply as possible to deliver the maximum ROI. And that’s why I go with CGC. A pristine 10 increases the potential value of average cards, so you potentially get the most bang for your buck with CGC. But for the truly RARE cards, you’d be a fool to go with anyone other than PSA. A perfect 10 commands a high value and is highly sought after by most collectors. But most people won’t care about a perfect 10 Celebi, no matter how cool it is. That’s just the hard truth about Pokémon cards. There are too many to catch. 😅
PSA is commercially strong and overall more accessible and faster sales , Becket is for top dogs with big bucks and are able to hold on cards for long periodes of time
I'm a PSA all the way type of guy. The thing to remember is that no one company is perfect, but they all have their perks in some form or another. Thank you for the content as always brother!
10% on value of the card is robbery lmfao spa only god for quick flips cards you don't want in your collection the stupid red border looks like some target store as well the look on spa slabs are BS LOL Beckett and and SCG look way better for display no debate
Thanks so much for this well needed video Pokevault! I've been contemplating BGS and CGC over PSA. I do however want to say that I have had great experiences with PSA.
I am buying Cgc 10s. That gold label is going to be selling for more than a Psa 10 soon. Surprised its selling less than Psa right now considering Cgc grades harsher and pop reports. Gold 10 will be the next chase like a cheaper Bgs black label.
Great video Sean love the content as ever! I do think CGC can be underrated though- alot of their 9.5s are on par or better than psa 10s tbh - even on vintage and a perfect 10 is on a level way above a PSA 10 (in most cases) again my opinion.
Buy CGC slabs for cheap as they are literally worth less than raw sometimes. Crack and sent to PSA/BGS and come up good. People don't know to do this for some reason though.
To be fair there is a difference in perfect and pristine with CGC. Perfect 10's are like the black label with all sub 10 grades and do go for more than the PSA 10 but still don't compare to the black label of BGS.
Love the honesty brotha!! CGC Comics is the best grading company for sure. I loved the Blue CGC label, but the new label I am not a fan of. Looks so generic. Plus to remove Sub grades is a big mistake if you ask me. So I will wait to see if they go back to the old label, if not, I think I am going to give Beckett a shot. I just don't like PSA cases. IDK Vault, CGC cases is way more sturdy then PSAs.
Seeing the price of that black label Moonbreon made my jaw crash through the floor!🤣 Holy smokes, I can't imagine what the price is like in Japanese! Whoever is selling that, and gets is sold is gonna be eating good that's for sure! I have to say that BGS looks the best in my opinion, it just has that very premium, fancy smancy look to it that makes even a $1 card look like it's worth millions. Would love to own a BGS slab one day!
I’ve always wondered why BGS isn’t more popular outside of their black labels. BGS is much more strict on grading and they have the cleanest looking slabs
CGC also had something simillar to the Becket Black label. It had a pristine 10 (this can be without subgrades or with subgrades, 3 out of 4 criteria are a 10 and 1 is a 9,5).If you didn't buy the subgrades, then you don't know wich one is the 9,5. Then there's the perfect 10 (does not excist without subgrades, all 4 criteria are 10) If you send a card in to be graded without subgrades and it would recieve a perfect 10, CGC would add the subgrades on the label for free. The difference between the three posibilities of 10's (perfect 10, pristine 10 with/without subs) doesn't stand out like with beckett because it's the same label background. But since CGC is changing it up, It won't apply anymore. And pricewise, there is a difference between al three 10's. I might lean more to grade cards with PSA now that CGC is going to change some things (not only label), but in the past I liked CGC more because I thought they where more consistent with their grades than PSA. As for the 0,5 scores, you love them or hate it.
Thanks for the info, I just pulled a Gardevoir and Sylveon GX team up and think I should really try getting it graded and it looks really good. I kinda want to go BCG, but PSA might be the way to go.
I’m going to send in all my alt arts from evolving skies master set, Ive been stuck between psa and BGS because I feel psa is easier 10s but I don’t wanna miss out on a potential black label
As someone wanting to grade cards, and wanting an opinion on the best for doing so, I thank you. Only downside, I'm in Canada and I want to avoid cross border shipping to grade them, lol.
I pulled a potential 10 Zapdos EX (I think he's closer to 9.5 but we'll see) and I definitely want the sub-grading on my label, so that'll be a huge deciding factor for me. Thank you for the video!
I agree, PSA for the reputation and long history is the kind of go to, but damn these BGS slabs hits differently. I have seen however such inconsistency in previous grading videos with BGC. Never was a huge fan of CGC slabs, but they seems reliable. I think they got popular when PSA was just overloaded and overpriced.
I graded with CGC when I got back into Pokémon because they had subgrades. I might hold off on grading for a little bit, I got cards coming back from CGC now. Just sent in two 9.5 cards, may try PSA, from now on.
Very much needed. I have been trying to decide if I want to get a bunch of mine graded but it’s tough to decide who to use or if I even want to get into the grading side!
About to send out some generation 1 or whatever they are referred to as for the first time. I’m going with Beckett because they give sub grades which explains why a card gets lower than 10 if it does.
I only ever got one card graded. My moonbreon using the express service. Psa gave it a 10… but after closely inspecting the card they damaged it during the slabbing process. Can safely say probably wont be grading again, binders for me. I buy graded vintage just because raw the conditions to unreliable.
Getting my very first submission ready to go. I’m thinking going all PSA unless I have some big daddy juicer card that looks absolutely perfect for BGS
I have never gotten a card graded. I have been tempted with some of my higher value cards, but I like showing them off in my display binder lol. Maybe someday.
I was the same way with the original 90s cards. I have the full set with all holos in great condition. I ended up going with CGC and got a cool briefcase for graded card slabs to display all the holes. It's really cool honestly.
Ehats your thought on SGC. They are a staple with the sport card market and is getting more into TCG. They have the tuxedo slabs and I have noticed their gaining closer values per grade as the big 3
Best one lookwise is 100% the german company GSG. Looks just soooo good, puts the card into the focus, the label is metal and everything just feels high end. A pitty that it is not really recognized on the big marked.
Boss, I love your channel, and I always will because you are absolutely amazing. But you can’t just leave out CGC’s Perfect 10 and Prestine 10 labels in the conversation. CGC’s never had a gem mint 10 or a plain 10. That was the problem. CGC’s Perfect 10 is supposed to be equivalent to Becket gold label. Also, CGC is the standard for grading comics.
After trying BGS, I won't waste my time and money with any other grading company when it comes to Pokemon cards. I'd only grade with PSA if I knew for sure that my cards had defects and couldn't get a perfect score. Otherwise, the chance to get a black label is too good to pass. Standard Bgs 10s are also great and, as you said yourself are harder to get than PSA 10s and therefore more valuable.
Im not big on graded cards myself tbh. I was recently gifted my 1st one by a streamer here in New Zealand. A lovely Jap Armored Mewtwo done by PSA. Beautiful card, and it does tempt me a little to get some more Mewtwo slabs. Might do some Gengar's for my little brother. Not for value, just to keep favorites well protected.
Great video man. I honestly wonder why PSA doesn’t incorporate an equivalent to Black Label. Would it affect the value of regular 10s? It seems like an opportunity to further solidify their dominance in the market, and to offer another type of “regrade” where people could send in their current 10s to see if they could get this new higher tier 10.
Brooooooooooo, TOP DOG! Is definitely PSA, which I have hard time loving them. I with they did the sub grades and there pricing. But, hey what are you going to do! I definitely agree in regards to BGS slabs they are neck and neck value wise!
Becketts is alot harsher and have a higher standard than PSA. I look back on my past collection of slabs and noticed that my PSA 10s were nowhere near the condition my BGS 9.5 were. Sharp Corners and centering were the big difference between them two. Plus PSA didn't do any favors by authenticating two fake MJ RC autos. I feel alot of ppl are buying fake PSA slabs and they don't know it.
Thank you for making this video. Because i needed to know. Because in going to get a charizard 4/102 card and i want to see what company was best to grade it
And cgc has also a perfect 10 grade with four 10 subrades therefore bgs and cgc on paper should have been on the same level, of irl the black label has a different appeal
SGC is currently making a huge push into the Pokémon space and is offering amazing prices and turn tines. They are 1 of the "Big 3" for sports cards and have been around and highly respected in that space for decades.
I have to disagree with you PV, PSA while are most well known, they are my least favourite. The slabs feel like you could crack them with your bare hands and a PSA 10 is just like whatever nowadays too lenient, too many about.
What about strictness though? Is it still harder to get good grades in BGS? PSA used to give 10s left and right, is it still the same? On the long run, this could harm the real value of their slabs. I haven't sent anything for grading yet, so I would like to know if it is worth it to send my vintage cards to BGS, since it's my favorite of the three, considering they are not in pristine state.
BGS will always be the wowwww factor in graded cards. The design etc its luxury. PSA is the overall king because of the name PSA. In my opinion BGS will always be a hugher class in case or Value and overall looks
From what ive heard too many people regrade with psa after polishing and wasxing their cards so your psa 10 was prob a psa 8 or 9 at one point. I think BGS with subgrades is the way too go so there is some form of record/accountability on how the card was graded in the first place. What do yall think , does PSA have the market by balls and is just providing inconistent grading standards resulting in increased resubmissions through regrading and thus taking a much larger percent of the pokemon market while slabbing altered cards and calling them 10s
1st. BGS 10 BLACK LABEL
2nd: BGS 10 gold label, PSA 10, CGC 10
The thickness of the Beckett slab for me is the deciding factor. I’ve seen how flimsy the PSA slabs are and as someone who wants to be able to break out their collection and look at their cards from time to time the thickness of the slab is vital to me.
PSA slabs are garbage. idk how they are the king company.
Psa slabs are thinner than bgs and may feel flimsier when holding but they’ll definitely still protect your cards more than enough. Only way you damage em is carelessness tbh
@@Greeeyfr psa ain't the best but good enough.
Becket slabs have UV protection integrated into the plastic which is a plus for display longevity. The cards are also sleeved inside the slab which is a pro or a con depending on the person.
You didn't factor in CGC Perfect 10s though into the pricing. The Umbreon VMAX in perfect 10 went for $4000.
Yeah perfect 10 is what Becketts black label is. I have a few and it subgrades all 10s. (Not saying CGC Perfect is worth as much as Becketts 10. But they are the same grade level)
Also with the fact that cgc subgrades are gone, the current cgc perfect 10’s will be the only ones left, and in my opinion will go up in value
They’re ending subgrades.
Yeah but CGC labels are ugooo old and new looking ugooo. Bgs silver , gold and black labels look sooo good it just pops and makes your favorite card looking good like in a tuxedo. PSA is aaaaight better than CGC .
How did this guy not know
I also love the way SGC cards looks especially a nice alt art with the black background. Psa is king but I like all the grading card companies
I personally prefer the way beckett slabs look. The gold/black labels look great. I also like sub grades

You get the ace cards back? Their labels look awesome!
My first few graded cards started with PSA, but I know CGC grades more harshly so if you are trying to buy CGC 9 cards, they will be cheaper and you might be able to get a potential PSA 10 on the regrades. Good luck!
PSA 100000% grades more harshly man.. especially the older cards. Something could have been a 9.5 at CGC but is a 9 for PSA.
Though I have also seen cards go from a 9.5 to a 10 for PSA but overall I think that's because PSA has the most public experience.
@@3hirdtimesacharmALL of my cross from CGC 9.5’s went to PSA 10’s. PSA could care less about centering and edges lol
Just a matter of time before Cgc gold label pristine 10s start selling for higher prices on ebay vs Psa 10s
I just got a CGC and didn't even realize thats where it was graded because of the black label. I 100% prefer the old blue label with the categories from CGC. It is PSA for me but the chase for the BGS Black Label is a tempting option. I actually like the look of BGS slabs more than PSA.
PSA by far has the worst slab of the big 3
Honestly, I enjoy the blue labels from CGC, and I'm glad I still have the ones that I do. Nothing compares to a PSA slab though, and no slabs fit together in a stack the way that they do.
Personally the bgs slabs fit better together like Legos stuck together

I just think that hyper focus makes centering the only thing that matters on a card. Which is why I prefer PSA. Fair grading on centering, generally consistent grading.
That’s why black labels are so rare, the off centered cards do bug me a bit, but most are almost unnoticeable
Love how he complelty ignores saying that cgc has perfect tens when comparing to black labels and then literally shows off a perfect 10 gengar....
Thanks so much for this well needed video Pokevault! I've been contemplating BGS and CGC over PSA. I do however want to say that I have had great experiences with PSA.

I loved how you broke everthing down. I'm new into collecting and these videos help out a lot.
Lookswise totally disagree. CGC cases look way nicer than the (in my eyes) cheap plastic look from PSA.

BGS for Weiss schwarz
CGC for comics

Great video, the popularity of PSA is currently unmatched. But still that Black Label BGS on normal label BGS are the best.
Sorry i do not want to play the "teacher" here but pristine 10 for both cgc and bgs is 3 subrades get a 10 and one 9.5
Cgc does have very nice quality slabs, the material is op
You have been EXTREMELY active on here lately 👀. 85k by the end of august INCOMING
Cgc has something similar to a black label with its perfect 10. They have a pristine 10 and a perfect 10
This video def helped me make a decision on which company to go to.
Dude, this video seriously was so helpful. I am so glad Pokevault is hooking us up with some knowledge!
@PokeTiik most def pokevault is my favorite channel handsdown
Thanks for the info, I just pulled a Gardevoir and Sylveon GX team up and think I should really try getting it graded and it looks really good. I kinda want to go BCG, but PSA might be the way to go.
I’m going to send in all my alt arts from evolving skies master set, Ive been stuck between psa and BGS because I feel psa is easier 10s but I don’t wanna miss out on a potential black label
I'm the same way... something about PSA that just look nice to... Something about it that catches my eye.
Great vid! I’ve honestly only sent in 2 cards so far and both were to BGS. I just love how the slab looks
I asked you yesterday during the live and you said wait for this video! THANK YOU
I will ultimately be sending in my perfect cards ( 3 ) to BGS and my other beauty’s to PSA
As someone wanting to grade cards, and wanting an opinion on the best for doing so, I thank you. Only downside, I'm in Canada and I want to avoid cross border shipping to grade them, lol.
I’m like how you purposely left out that CGC has a Perfect 10 grade. Disappointing… Don’t turn into a scumbag. People will call you out.
I agree about the PSA labels... something about them just pop for me
Appreciate the perspective. I like PSA but when I look to grade some cards I may have to send some into Beckett that have a chance at a black label.
BGS have that super glossy inner sleeve compared to the others.
Definitely a cooler label, but the sleeve obscures the card too much imo.
I’m grading my 1st Ed base set and I’m using PSA for all except holos, BGS is grading my Holos
Love the BGS slabs, but their order tracking system is not as good as PSA. I have graded comics through CGC and they were super quick and awesome.
Great information Sean. Thank you for enlightening the community on differences and values. You're the best bro.
I was iffy on CGC litteraly just because I hated the ugly blue labels the new labels/case looks very very nice opinion did a complete 180.
I think things in the UK are a little different, theres more value in PSA than the other two, unless its a BGS black of course.
Great video Sean, but I feel like CGC wins in one category that you didn’t mention. Grading Error cards
This was an awesome video, very help Learnt more about BGS
German GSG slabs look really dope too and they are also strict
Being from the UK this video make me so jealous.. although we do have Ace Grading who have amazing artwork!!
I never had a slab but ok I'll go for BGS to get my card graded in the future
Brooooooooooo, TOP DOG! Is definitely PSA, which I have hard time loving them. I with they did the sub grades and there pricing. But, hey what are you going to do!
I definitely agree in regards to BGS slabs they are neck and neck value wise!
PSA is a well trusted and known name in grading. Now the others are moving in due to high pricing of grading cards and coins.
What are your thoughts on Ace Grading? I’m probably going to keep using PSA but I was just curious.
For a while a couple years ago it costs $100 per card at PSA
Sgc actually because of pricing turnaround and percentages to psa are closer then people are observing
CGC Pristine 10 means it didn't get all 10s on the subgrades, they also have a Perfect 10 which does have all 10's on subgrades. Cheers
Because in going to get a charizard 4/102 card and i want to see what company was best to grade it
Got some useful info today and funny content along with the cutscenes keep it up!!
And cgc has also a perfect 10 grade with four 10 subrades therefore bgs and cgc on paper should have been on the same level, of irl the black label has a different appeal
CGC also struck a deal with E bay might be good for them
SGC is currently making a huge push into the Pokémon space and is offering amazing prices and turn tines. They are 1 of the "Big 3" for sports cards and have been around and highly respected in that space for decades.
A Vault video on my birthday lets gooooo!🙏🏼👊🏼
Damn.. BGS and PSA slabs are the worst... CGC slabs are the BEST! I agree with your other points tho. I own all 3 types.
Beckett is literally 10 minutes away from me, I can go to Walmart buy a pack and get them graded same day 😂
