@@idkidk3378 there isn't one, the composer, Keiichi Okabe, decided to use a made up language that doesn't actually have meaning. it's meant to sound foreign to anyone who listens to it.
@@H4zZ4rDGaming1 the language isn't entirely made up. It's a mix of the syllables from French, english, Italian, German, and a few other languages. The idea behind it is to sound like a sort of futuristic language, but it's mainly meant to be a language that sounds beautiful to song in according to the actual vocalist for the soundtrack
I just bought NieR:Automata a week ago, and has just finally finished Endings A- E [bless the souls of those guys who made it possible!]. Then bless you milady, you then uploaded this. My heart still bleeds out for 9S and 2B, but hearing this song reminds me of simpler times . May those two find happiness.

This cover means a lot to me as did the game. I couldn't put the game down until I had completed it. Even still I constantly go back to listen to this game's beautiful soundtrack, reminding myself to beg my friends to play this game as well. Thank you for the sweet cover!
So I have a theory about the lyrics. I think this is a combination of some Italian with mostly French.
Other points of confusion:
- Use of the passe simple to achieve the subjectless phrases that you can spin up in Italian. E.g. you can say "Sono JustAPositiveGuy" but french would have to be "Je suis JustAPositiveGuy".
- Lots of non sequiturs make it so weird to follow the logic
- Other videos of this same song have different pronunciations
- Idioms might've been written in English first, then literally into French
- Missing some grammar and might have a couple of congation issues
End of the day i think its a cute song about someone despairing about falling in love. They know death will end it (forcing them to flee) but they choose to 'flee' their lives now because they must follow them - no matter what's written in the stars. First stanza is how nothing is perfect, but despite that there can be beauty, then lamenting that they will grow old and die, then how you have to grab it while you can cuz life passes you by, then problems that might arise, ending with 'screw it, it's a net positive'. Heartwarming, if this is what the writer meant :)

that's actually a lot of work here. i was skeptical, as a french person, when you said it was mostly inspired by french, but I'm convinced :') great job^^
If you didnt know the language in Niers music is called chaos language and it is a mix of english, french, japanise and bits and pieces from other languages

@JustAPositiveGuy It's a nice idea, but no. Chaos language is a mesh of the sounds used in languages from all over the world, organized based on the emotion that each of the sounds from all of the languges tend to convey most often.
I.e. Sounds "A-5" are often used to express feelings of disgust or anger, so these sounds will be used to make this sound to convey the same. And so on and so forth.
You're hearing french vowels because there's french vowels in there, and while I agree that it certainly sounds like a song detailing a love that cannot be realized or reciprocated, especially considering it's title, any direct translation to any language is impossible since none of the sounds/words in Chaos language have any specific meaning by design.
You should read up on it a bit, the artist's work on the project is like... HYPER impressive. Sorry to rain on the parade, but I hope I helped a little bit from the "future."

I feel that maybe these songs are supposed to be in our languages initially. But through time and countless versions or translations, it warped into these "chaos languages" that we now hear. Just imagine how much our languages have changed in the centuries until now? And in-game...its already been 11k years! I can try and expand deeper into this theory but i fear i might give spoilers to some people... so ill keep it at that and let your imaginations take over :)
One things for sure tho, our minds might not understand the lyrics of the song, but our hearts sure do!

The Fox of Knowledge it is very much inspired by french phonetics. The language itself, since the first NieR, has been known as a "chaos" language. It's a mix of a ton of languages, so there's no actual meaning to it. Regardless, it's still beautiful.

The Chaos language is made of multiple languages with different phonetics, some people have been able to decipher some part of the different songs because of this but It's still a made up language. In Beutiful Song people have picked up traces of Italian and latin in it and some words of other languages that are just poorly pronounced thus altered slightly.

It's not french though, it's a fictional language inspired by gaelic, french and japanese, created by Emi Evans.

I'd be interested in seeing what someone who speaks japanese, french, gaelic, and a few other languages would think about this. I feel there's more bits and pieces of meaning here brought alive by her voice than I feel could probably be random noise.
Benjamin Coyle I'm portuguese and I also can speak spanish. When you know some of the languages you can try to guess the meaning of the lyrics a little better but it's still hard to make sense of it all...
