If it was a wasp there would be no stinger. Wasps can sting as much as they want because they have a smooth stinger that pierces and comes back out of the skin. Bees have barbed stingers. When a bee stings, the stinger stays in the skin, consequently ripping out of the bee and essentially disemboweling it. This is why bees only sting once and die afterwards. Glad you took Kurt to the vet. Responsible thing to do! Good lesson for all to not assume just because you find no stinger. Glad he is okay now.
Thank you for loving Kurt and realizing that he needed help. My sister's cat passed away from a wasp sting. We didn't know what had happened until we found the whasp attached on the underside of the cats belly. It so was devastating!
Poor Kurt! I agree with you better safe than sorry. Wasps occasionally get inside the house. I had one get in a d chased after it with a rolled up newspaper. I was concerned for my 2 cats and my dog. After about 25 minutes, I was able to get it out of the house. Haven't had one inside since then. Hugs to Kurt. Feel better soon Buddy! ❤❤❤
Bro. Sending praises your way for not only loving on a cat but getting medical treatment. Extra praises for your love and care in getting the pain and alerrgy medication.❤❤❤.
Poor Kurt. This happened to my cat. He was fine but his paw was swollen and he limped until the next day. Yes I took him to the vet too. And knowing how chill Kurt is, if he is acting like a wild cat then something is wrong. Good watching out for your boy.
And I thought I was the only one around here dealing with wasps in the house. Poor Kurt, I hope he can recover from this. For a cat, being stung is a major issue. 😿🙏🧡
It's because of the time of year. My mom has this issue every time it transitions from fall to winter. Every single year. If they keep showing up but it isn't obvious where (like through an open door), they've likely found somewhere to burrow through. If you have any exposed wood, that would be my first place to check.
@@SteviiLove And window screens. There always seems to be an opening somewhere! I keep a fly swatter handy (for any unwanted insect) and it's a good idea to have wasp/hornet spray on hand.
@@SteviiLove Yeah, that may explain the case legit especially for a house that’s damn old af. For me I gotta put up with this issue every summer to fall and I hate it so much I gotta lock myself in my room to protect myself from any risk of being stung. Sounds a bit dramatic, I know. Better safe than sorry, I guess???
Wasps and Bees have different stingers because they have different niches for their use. Wasps are active hunters, bringing protein to their larvae to help them mature. Because of this, their stingers are smooth and capable of repeat stings without harming the wasp. Adult wasps actually have a similar diet to bees -- nectar and pollen -- and only the babies need protein. Bees use their stingers for defense, and only as a last resort option. Their stingers are barbed on a microscopic level and are rooted to a venom gland in their bodies. When they sting, they often pull themselves apart -- leaving the gland and stinger within the victim. If given the chance to, they CAN wriggle free without hurting themselves but it can take them about 10-20 seconds. Not a lot of things have that level of patience when being stung, lol. Fun Fact: Parasitoid Wasps use the body/living tissue of another creature to incubate and then feed their young. They prey on spiders, caterpillars, and in some cases, other species of wasp! In fact, most parasitoid wasps will target bigger wasps, and the smallest 'complex' being on the planet is a parasitoid wasp that targets a bigger parasitoid wasp. It looks identical to a normal wasp, but massively shrunken down to a microscopic level. Its utterly fascinating.
Aw poor baby! I can't imagine how much pain a cat feels in their little body but my big human body has me using words that would make a sailor blush at.
Poor Kurt! If it was a wasp, there wouldn't be a stinger left behind because they don't lose their stingers after stinging. Only bees lose their stingers and then die. I'm so glad you're such a good cat Dad, and took him to urgent care ❤
Poor baby I hope he's okay and make sure you give him lots of extra treats. Maybe wrap him in a burrito to make him feel nice and warm and safe with you.❤
poor kurt! i’m so scared of my cats getting stung. living in the south during summer absolutely sucks when it comes to wasps. very glad kurt was taken to the doctor. hope he is all better soon 🫶🏻
This is the right time of year for this; when it gets colder outside, bugs look for a way inside, bees included. The worst part is that the bees have been storing their venom all spring and summer, so it's worse this time of year. Happened at my mom's house when my son was a toddler; he sat on the couch only to get a white faced hornet to the butt. It was bad. I hope Kurt a speedy recovery, ❤ Poor dude
Oh Abram he looked so pitiful in that muzzle thing. It hurts so bad when they touched it. You absolutely did the right thing. Yellow jackets & wasps can cause a lot of pain. They don't have any way of telling you how bad it hurts. I'm so glad they gave you meds for the reaction & pain. Bless his lil heart. 💗😿
OMG Kurt's daddy must have been flipping out!! So glad U took him to the Vet!! Cats try so hard to conceal their injuries and illnesses. You're so intimate with him you knew right away something was wrong. Good daddy!!! Never wait if you thing there's something amiss!!

This is a myth. Honey bees lose their stinger after stinging, most bees don't.
I scrolled until I found this bc I was raging (not really but still)
This should be common sense/knowledge. Wasps don't leave their stingers!!!!!
yeah if even the doctors search for a stinger from a wasp sting then i dont know what to say anymore
@MrWabaki you say, "I guess I was wrong that wasp stingers can't break off when used to sting a cat."
That is, if you're not an idiot.
