    Its been a while since I had time to do anything modelling, and I thoroughly enjoyed back-toback binge watching these 3 tutorials, all filled with great techniques. Keep up the good work Shane.

    I have been sitting here for 2hrs wondering what a "feygel" is until I realized you're saying "vehicle".
    Amazing tutorial. I'm going to try following your techniques for a small model I have. My techniques tend to come out rather flat looking.

    • @longlance67
      @longlance67  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      hahah that's accents for you lol
      I hope some of the techniques used prove to be useful in your own projects, If you have any questions about anything I used don't hesitate to ask! :)

    Nice work Shane! Looks like it went together without a hitch! Love the contrast in weathering from top to bottom on mud and color variations . Good eye for detail on the recognition panel. Well done sir!

      thanks Bravo ! the mud turned out much better than I was hoping ! though I think I make my future panels more rectangle in shade than this one as I think its a little off but in all I very happy with it !

    It's people like you and other amazing diorama and model makers that I want to be like. However, it might take some time, due to me having no expensive equipment or skill. Also, I still 2 Zeros to finish and a Warhawk and another Zero to make..

    • @longlance67
      @longlance67  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      the tools come in time, none of us started off with anything fancy just basic tools and paintbrushes and you can indeed get great results with even basic tools ! Just keep building and having fun with it, and the rest follows :)

    I wonder if white spirits you refer to are mineral spirits in America? I use mineral spirits for a lot of things. Regards, Solomon

    • @longlance67
      @longlance67  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      just googled it there, apparently mineral spirits is name of white spirits in North America something I did not know !

    • @sjp52047
      @sjp52047 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I was just guessing, Because if I were to describe mineral spirits, I would have called it white spirits, EXCEPT, it's clear as fresh mountain water. LOL!

    Hey man. Great video. I'm wondering when in the process would you do a oil filter? Thanks

    • @longlance67
      @longlance67  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I tend to start my oils right the decals and before I do heavy effects like mud ect

    • @joshmeads
      @joshmeads 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@longlance67 if you're going to do a oil filter and a dot filter, is it ok to do the filter then let it dry and then go directly to oil dot filter? Or should you give it a gloss varnish in between? Thanks

    • @joshmeads
      @joshmeads 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Also you do your oils after the decals? And is it ok to do a filter on top of the gloss coat left from the decals or should you put a matte varnish layer on before the filter? Thanks

    • @longlance67
      @longlance67  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@joshmeads so best is to get dry at least a few hours between layers or overnight before adding the next layer. If oils are fully dry they couldn't react with the next layer unless you go mad with white spirit and flood the model in the thinner. If you are worried about reactivating each layer you can indeed to seal it gloss

    • @longlance67
      @longlance67  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@joshmeads I prefer to do my decals before and seal them under gloss or clear to prevent silvering. My idea is blend the decals into the paint work to make look like they are painted on and aged at the same time as vehicle did. Its totally fine to use gloss coat used to seal the decals and oil directly over it. The gloss helps flow dot and pin filters into details by breaking the surface tension of the surface

  • @steviegibson5847
    @steviegibson5847 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    Fantastic video, BUT after the oil for filters, how long did you leave it before glosscoating again? Is overnight long enough? Also, what gloss coat did you use? Never watched the first two! KUTGW.

    • @steviegibson5847
      @steviegibson5847 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I did not see the first two..... normally TH-cam makes recommendations, but did not show these.

    • @longlance67
      @longlance67  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Normally wait 12-24hrs between layers is the safest bet, I used Vallejo Gloss, but any gloss will do, links to the two videos should comeup near the of this video if your watching this on a computer, but if it doesn't easiest way to find them is check the channels video library

    Just wondering what tool do you use to get those paint chipping effects? A sponge with paint or use the hairspray technique?

    • @longlance67
      @longlance67  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      predominately I use a piece of sponge and for finer chips I a fine brush

    Hi Shane can I make 1 of these for the GB and can you use hairspray for the gloss coat

    • @longlance67
      @longlance67  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      unfortunately the M10 doesn't really belong to the Sherman family so it falls outside the parameters of the build sorry my friend,as for hairspray for gloss, I wouldn't try it for that, as hairspray is soluble and would break down , I wouldn't trust it for gloss coats

    • @longlance67

      wouldn't want you risking one of your project if the hairspray back fires. Pledge floor polish seems to be alternative of choice out there

    Your mud splashes are somewhat wrong as most of the mud would be dispersed just underneath the sponsions. That amount is only possible if they drove high speed through deep mud, but the mud is then thrown out towards the rear. But everyone is entitled to their artistic expression
