    Your colour modulation tips are awesome, and the chipping on the tank is first class. I'm always afraid of overdoing it, so it's nice to see how much is "enough" :-) Yet another fine tutorial series! - Trevor

      @longlance67  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      thanks Trevor really happy you found it useful to you ! chipping is one of those things that can wrong very fast, but I always find it of great use to visualize what is causing said chips and it helps with placing them and the intensity in which they are applied :)

    excellent video Shane. Lovin' the M10. By the way, those are T-51 rubber block tracks. The only reason I know that is because I ordered a set of link by link T-51 tracks from Panda Plastics.
    Assembly promises to be very monotonous

      thanks Danny ! hahs they are so VVSS and HVSS track types I can never remember them lol was looking at Bronco's track sets myself they all look very intense to say the least

    That's a good shade for British armor what did you say that was Armor green from vallejo, cool I use there 2 olive drabs and the pre shate under coat similar but using white in the High spot's, I've been experimenting with that AK Transparator for the pre shading and it's working nice! One Normal coat of the base coat and then I'm trying the Transparator mixed in the next layers and it's definitely working well for easy and fast modulation that looks good great video's bud watch alot.

    • @longlance67
      @longlance67  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Its armor green but I believe its their RLM71 color now. That sound likes a neat idea using glazes for modulation will need to try it out!

    • @Emtbtoday
      @Emtbtoday 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@longlance67 the Ak Transparator I just bought out of curiosity really thought it was just another gimmick like but it's brilliant mate! Compared it to vallejo I bought the same week it's just a different thing it is a glaze but god hard to explain you'll see when you try it mate! Cheers for that paint code!

    This 3 part video has really helped me getting better models! Thank you so much Shane and here is a new subscriber :)
    Just one question tho, when you applied the first olive drab layer, did you cover the "black" parts or just mist it lightly so you still can see the shadows through?

    • @longlance67
      @longlance67  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      thanks mate always happy to be of help !
      the trick with the preshade is lay the paint thin over it so you can control how much you can see if the shadow layer

    Shane is rendering an older tank with a lot of dirt and rust. Hence, this is a tank that had a rough life. However, just like many other modelers, he forgets to weather or damage the most fragile parts on this tank: the RUBBER parts !! The wheels and track pads were the first items to get damaged, even though this rubber is very tough and durable.
    Most modelers overlook this part of the build. They weather a tank to death, but always forget to simulate damage on the wheels and tracks.
    Another details most modelers overlook, is the fact that most tanks had a very short life span, so few of them had a chance to rust. They did get dirty, but heavily worn and rusted....no....that was only for the few tanks that managed to survive for years.

    • @longlance67
      @longlance67  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      very true indeed ! out of all elements of a tank its rudder pads on tracks that wear first, and then the wheels its something I should do more to be fair lol

    • @longlance67
      @longlance67  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      was looking at that kit too, and have seen Adam build the few RFM Tigers he has on our chats but they seem too intense for my purposes as interiors are very depending indeed, so I went for a kit that has great exterior and lets me get stuck in right away, have a simple diorama for it too

    Take two American WW2 vehicles that came off of the production line one after the other, set them in the sun for two weeks, and more likely than not you'll have two shades of OD green. So close enough is, indeed, close enough! :-)

    People get waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too caught up in "Correct Color". You must remember, out in the field the crews and maint. units used what they had. There was an FS standard but that was only followed IF possible. We even used enemy paint, just like all armies. Just saying.

    • @longlance67
      @longlance67  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I would agree that there is an obsession of color that is prevalent in the hobby. I tend to operate in the hobby middle ground, close enough to be faithful yet still interesting to the eye
