Kolat was robbed of at least two World titles and an Olympic Medal. More matches overturned than any other wrestler in the world. Still one of the greatest American wrestlers of all time regardless of the hardware, but its a shame he didnt get the recognition he deserved. He was the best wrestler in the world from 97 to 2000. Three years in a row he had matches overturned at the World and Olympic tournaments.
This match also marked the beginning of back room politicking that destroyed Kolat's career. Kolat is arguably the greatest American wrestler to never win Olympic or World gold, and that was due to behind the scenes corruption.
@@emmanueludoh77 If you really want to know the whole story, go to flowrestling.org and watch the documentary of Cary Kolat. He was robbed 3 years in a row at the World and Olympic tournaments. Matches he won pretty decisively were overturned after the matches were already wrestled and done. They put him in the loser bracket even though he won the match. 3 years in a row...
Hi, i belive this is bronse match. The match that was overturned was before that against Barzakov. The speaker in background is calling Kenari and Barzakov for the final match.
Great match. But I’m curious who was being interviewed during the match? You can hear him in the background. He seemed to say all the right stuff. The crowd loved it.
He is an Iranian announcer, the first part they cheered he said you guys are some of the best crowds, second part they ask what do you think of wrestling in Iran. I think he said there’s no better place to wrestle than in Iran. Third part was something about what do you have to say to the kids and fans.

I'm unfamiliar with this. What type of politicking?
Yup, Kolat was targeted. They hated his rubber knee, too.

@@bogilmore152 Wow that sounds brutal! Thanks I'll check it out.
@@emmanueludoh77 Youre welcome. Yes, it was terrible what they did to Cary.
Uncrowned Champion 👑
Kolat was on an absolute tear during this tournament. He completely dominated everyone up to this match.
UWW and the Olympic committee needs the overturn the results from 97-2000 and deliver gold medals to Kolat.
They really should
Sometimes when you loose you really win and sometimes when you win you get fu@ked out of it three times.
Thanks for the upload. Helps with the cabin fever
Not sure how the scoring worked but seems like Kolat had three takedowns to the other guys one.
Can anyone point out which sequence led to this match getting overturned? My untrained eye doesn’t see where the phantom point could have come from.

Love how they're TRYING to wrestle while they're giving a major speech. International wrestling and politics don't mix. Cary is the true champion.
Americans have always been great in wrestling. Kyle Sanderson
America, Russia, Iran, Turkey, Japan, Mongolia all countries that dominate in wrestling
Straight BS, Kolat should have 3 Golds (2 W's & 1 Oly)

@@Arminsaf2 Thank you. It very hard to hear. I appreciate your comment.
I hope karma came to all these scumbags that cheated Kolat out of the three World Championships and the Gold Medal he was robbed of.
How do you overturn this? I have 3-1...very sad
This match was not overturned.
@@BrainiacHoyt what match was he screwed out of then?...flo did a video on it
@@rt141 their 1999 match.
You can hear Zeke talking to the crowd in the background
Why over time?
Back then the rule was you needed 3 points to win.
