#TBT: Sadulaev and Snyder Square off in #WrestleTokyo 97kg Olympic Finals
Abdulrashid SADULAEV 🇷🇺 and Kyle SNYDER 🇺🇸 collided in Tokyo with 97kg Olympic gold on the line. It was the third time the pair of Rio Olympic champions clashed. ‘The Russian Tank’ fell in their first meeting but won two straight matches and gained the 2-1 series advantage after securing a 6-3 finals win.
Sadulaev, the now-two-time Olympic champ and Snyder are seeded first and second, respectively, at 97kg for the #WrestleOslo World Championships 🇳🇴 (October 2-10).
They'll meet for a fourth time if they stay undefeated until the finals.

If you never wrestle, you can't imagine the amount of energy spent in that short time.
i ve did muay thai clinch-only training before and they are tiring AF, but i can't even imagine how much more energy went in to these wrestling maneuvers.
Gym workouts seems like a walk in the park compared to contesting strength directly with your opponent.
@@KaiserNightcoreMusic100%, I've been lifting weights for many years. Recently started wrestling and my God is it tiring. If I had the choice, I'd definitely start wrestling first
@@KaiserNightcoreMusic that's true. I've practiced Muay Thai, long run and workout on the gym myself. But none of those gasses you out faster than wrestling.
An amazing energy
I was mainly kickboxing and boxing, since mai last years I went twice a week to wrestling classes. Since September everybody is in shock, even myself, of how my cardio, endurance especially in sparring went through the sky. I even use to have a weak knee but since wrestling it kind of I believe strengthened my legs and I'm now nearly pain free. But I fu€ked up my shoulder once 😂😂😂😂. Awesome sport and it is so demanding that even if you have strong sport background, never gets you even closer from wrestling energy draining level but if you are consistant, your overall athleticism goes through the sky.
I don't think enough people realize just how lucky we are to get to see possibly the two most physical wrestlers ever go at it so many times. There's not gonna be another rivalry like this for a long while

Sadulaev is possibly the greatest freestyle wrestler ever. He is the whole package: tank-like strength, great quickness, and superb technique.

Utmost respect to both competitors. As an American, I'll root for Snyder everytime but props to Sadulaev, he is the P4P best wrestler nowadays. I also like how Sadulaev was humble and respectful of Snyder is his victory.

@@K0nc3pt10n I disagree. Sadulaev is more established, has more titles (winning for a longer period of time), and is beating better quality of competition. A win over Kyle Snyder is a better win compared to whoever Susaki has beat. Although DT is a legend in his own wright, he only has one other world title.

In her rookie debut at 48kg rookie debut, she went 5-0, finished four of those five matches early with technical superiority victories and outscored her opponents 53-8. When Sadulaev moved up to 97, he failed to get gold. Meanwhile Susaki goes up to 50, not only gets gold but shutsout reigning world finalist Emilia VUC (ROU), world bronze medalist Oksana LIVACH (UKR), and the eight-time world and Olympic medalist Mariya STADNIK (AZE) winning by fall in her first match and then picking up three straight technical falls without surrendering a point. So by my criteria, it's not close. No one dominates their division the way she does.

Sadulaev is the smartest wrestler I've ever seen. I doesn't matter if he was dead with exhaustion after the match and Kyle could have gone another 3 minutes, he knows his opponents weaknesses and exploits them to near perfection.

The old Soviet house of wrestling techniques is much superior to anything out there. Synder too was very tough. But Sadulaev 's techniques outstripped all that.

Glad I could see the whole match. Kyle didn’t come away with the Gold medal but you could see if not giving up those tilts he had a real chance. Next meeting should be interesting. Sadulaev is a great wrestler, but so is Kyle.

Russians are so good at getting sneaky exposures in scrambling positions. I forgot his name but the guy who beat Yianni at final x recently kinda took that approach and it worked well for him (quick sneaky exposures in scrambles).

This is why i teach my highschoolers so much Greco stuff and try to steer away from depending on low singles and doubles
They both have such great upper body strength and technique. Sadulaev is so good at preventing those singles from happening

Wait so your saying you teach your guys to steer away from the things that made Snyder a 2 time world Champ and Olympic champ. Also the things that made JB a 5 time world champ and Olympic champ, and Cael a undefeated college wrestler and Olympic champ. There was no Greco in this match, he scored on counters that are not used in Greco because you can't grab legs and a push out off a shot. But hey I'm sure your style is great too.
@@dowutado yeah I agree.. throws are great in some situations but leg attacks provide so many more opportunities with less risk. Almost every wrestler who is great at throws has been put on their back a handful of times when something went wrong. Nickal.. Dake.. Dylan Ness...
Of course there isn't an ultimatum but if it came between never throwing and never attacking legs, I would choose never throwing in a heart beat.
