My gateway to Pokémon was watching it, since I was a baby. As I got older, I played some Pokémon games online and watched some people play. When I was in high school, I participated in Pokémon club. People played some Pokémon games on their Nintendo DSs and some had their cards out. I wore my Pokémon t-shirt in that club.

I grew up playing Pokémon with my brothers since the day they released. I’m now 36, making sure me and my step son get different versions so we can be rivals, just like me and my brothers used to. This franchise will always be super close to my heart.

It's gotten boring and repetitive. Nintendo likes to eat people's money that's why TH-camrs and gaming community have been calling them out lately. I'm glad more developers are making monster taming games to rival pokemon so it will force pokemon devs to innovative and make the game better. I love competition. Competition between Game studios = better games

It's a good time to be a Pokémon fan! High hopes for news of Netflix's live action TV series!
I begun to like Pokémon in 2019, and I got back to playing Pokémon Go in late 2022 after I stopped playing it in late 2016. I've also watched Detective Pikachu for the first time, and it gives me so many ideas of a live-action series. This year, I now have a Switch and completed the main storyline of Pokémon Violet! :)

I wish all kids getting into Pokémon could experience what it was like for those of us who lived through the first wave. 1998 to 2000 was a MAGICAL time. Collecting the imported original Japanese cards, discovering the missingno glitch in Red version, getting an Ancient Mew card when seeing the first movie, getting SO EXCITED seeing the very first glimpses of Gold and Silver on primitive web pages that didnt have an auto-translate option.
I'm so glad I got to live through it all.

On October 1st, 1998 (my 10th birthday), my mom picked me up from school and drove me to Kmart where she told me to pick something for my birthday. I had selected "Pokémon Red version". I've been hooked ever since. I've played Pokémon around the world, and my SoulSilver game is still registered in Afghanistan (which is where I was deployed when I started playing that title). I was fortunate enough to secure a spectator pass and get the Pokken Tournament LCQ option for the World Championships in 2019. I still play competitive Pokémon to this day, and judge TCG, VG, and GO events.

I was a part of the Pokémania in 1999, such a great time 😊😊 I was obsessed with the anime and the 1st and 2nd generation games 🎮 The movies were good, too, but I never got into the trading card games lol. In 2003, my parents pushed me to give my Pokémon stuff to my cousins, and being a teenager then, other interests followed quickly... But in my early 20’s, i started watching and playing again, i never got into the Pokémon after the 2nd generation though, and have done so ever since 😂 i also bought the Pokémon manga. I recently visited the Pokémon Café and Pokemon Centre in Tokyo, Japan, and had such a blast 😂😂

My first card was ancient mew, I still have it today. Back then, none of my friends knew how to play the game. We just collected, traded, & told stories of how our collections came to be. Once Yugioh cards came the the U.S., some of us sold our cards for Yugioh packs. Yugioh was my main thing up to June 2017, when link monsters became meta. Sometime in 2016, one of my nieces wanted pokemon cards & learn how to play. I finally learned the basic rules of the TCG, thanks to various TH-cam videos. Nowadays, I play both Pokemon & Yugioh TCGs casually

I was a baby when pokemon released in the States, so i grew up with the anime, but my first real love for it came from the tcg and having the collection of cards. It wasnt til gen 3 that i actually played a game, and it will always be my favorite generation. Heres to hoping pokemon never slows down and never misses, to new generations and old alike. Pokemon is what brings us all together. We all live in a pokemon world.

It was late ‘98-‘99. I borrowed my classmate’s Pokémon Red in the 7th grade and I couldn’t stop putting it down. Eventually got Red and my sister got Blue. Started watching the anime and collected the cards (which I still have to this day, including a shadowless Charizard). Pokémon is life.

Ever since Pokémon first debuted in the USA back in September 1998, I was so curious over what this show was. My younger sister (then 7) and I (then 11) started by watching the anime, played the video games, collected plush beanies of certain Pokémon (like Pikachu), and finally the card games. Good times dating back to the late 90s-early 2000s.
Oh, and don’t get me started on the first three movies. We were there for them all and the crowds at our local theater were huge. A line forming around the building? Insane. 😮

Pokémon Sapphire was not only my first ever Pokémon game, it was also my first ever video game (or at least the first one I can remember). The first episode of the show I can remember watching is the one where Ash catches Snorunt. All these years later, and I have a whole display case full of Pokémon figures, posters all over my room's walls, and I have at least one main series game from every generation.

This is a great documentary! These are some interesting facts about how Pokémon conquered the world. I learned about flickering lights causing kids to have seizure-like symptoms or go blind in previous videos. A streamer I watched talked about Pokémon being banned in schools in his day. Today, there are still some schools that ban Pokémon. The commercials looked great!

I got into the franchise in 1998, but I had to settle with the Anime and TCG, collecting more than playing, due to my parent's low income. But on my 11th birthday, I got both Yellow and Crystal. I still play the TCG semi-competitively, watch the anime, and play any main line release games.
I'll be playing Pokémon until the franchise ends; but, Pokémon will be with me to the grave.

Pokémon Ga-Ole, a weird spin-off Pokémon arcade game, is also one of the most successful games. Although not released in countries such as those in North America, it is released in Japan and certain countries in Asia including South Korea.

But the more I got older or probably really didn't have time for it anymore I lost interest. Now I'm slowly getting back into the franchise. By the way you forgot to mention detective Pikachu video game.

Owning a stake in the world, yet can’t hire proper game developers to make their games or properly budget them.

One correction is that in the porygon episode, it wasnt porygon's fault, it was Pikachu. But the franchise did want Pikachu to have the blame so they announced as porygon's fault so that way they could try to keep going with the show and the mascot wouldnt get the blame. there are still some sites out there that has the official episode out and you can see that it was Pikachu's thunderbolt that caused the strobing lights. That is actually one fact that not a lot of people know about the anime.

It was actually because of Digimon that I got into Pokemon. It was the very first anime series I saw. Before, since I was a little boy, I only watched stuff from Disney, Nickelodeon, and Cartoon Network. My top 3 favorite shows were always Power Rangers, Muppets, and Care Bears. Power Rangers was the only reason why I watched Fox Kids, but over time I got into a few other shows like Beetleborgs and Mystic Knights. Now I didn’t play video games when I was younger. So I was never into Pokemon. I only first learned about it through lunchables and other stuff, but it never interested me. I was still too into Power Rangers. In fact I used to tape record PR Lost Galaxy and my favorite episodes of Mighty Morphin thanks to Power Rangers Power Playback. But then I started seeing promos on TV for Digimon. Because of the “mon” part I thought it was a spin-off of Pokemon. I didn’t know Japan made their own cartoons, so I knew nothing about anime. I think the first anime I learned about was Dragonball Z through these Bandai toy guides I got with my Power Rangers Turbo toys. And I saw some minor stuff of Sailor Moon but I never watched any of them. The day Digimon aired on Fox Kids in the summer, I had gone to the Philadelphia Zoo with my mom and uncle through this work thing of my mom’s. We set the VCR to record Power Rangers Power Playback when it came on, but when I got home to play it, it was the series premiere of Digimon that had gotten recorded. Naturally I was distraught, though I thought it was a fluke or something. But the same thing happened the next week. Power Playback had been taken off and replaced with Digimon. I was so upset. I hated both Pokemon and Digimon. But eventually I watched the 2 Digimon episodes and got into them. The rest was history. I started really getting into Digimon, but having no sense of time and scheduling back then I missed episodes and got lost story wise. Eventually by the 8th child arc I got caught up and realized the show took place in Japan. At the same time I started getting into the Pokemon anime on WB as well as Monster Rancher and Flint The Time Detective. But it wasn’t until after I graduated from elementary school that I got curious about the video games. That summer my parents and I went up to the Poconos and my mom made me get a gameboy to keep myself busy. So when we went to Best Buy to get one, I got a Platinum Gameboy Advanced and decided to get Pokemon Crystal for it along with the official strategy guide to help me. Since I couldn’t get all 251 with just Crystal I soon got the Gold, Silver, and Yellows and another Gameboy Advanced to trade into Crystal, but I was never able to figure out how to do it. I think was because I wasn’t using the Gameboys they were intended for. It was easier with the Gen 3 games. Between the anime and main games, Pokemon became my third favorite TV show with Digimon being my second and Power Rangers still and still my number 1 favorite. Muppets and Care Bears took 4th and 5th. But as much as I love the Pokemon anime, it did have some disappointments. If I could manipulate time and change the writers’ minds, here are 20 things I would change.
    01. Actually show Serena kiss Ash
    02. More episodes of Pokemon Chronicles
    03. Not have James compete in the beauty contest episode
    04. Change the way the action scenes in the Porygon episode were done.
    05. Maybe downplay Jessie’s ego
    06. Do an extra episode of season 9 where the gang visits Misty at her gym
    07. Bring in the character Silver (Giovanni’s son) and rename him Sylvio for the final series
    08. Actually solve the GS Ball mystery
    09. Have Ash and catch more Pokemon than they did
    10. Not have Ash give up Butterfree, Primeape, Lapras, or Pidgeot
    11. Make Jinx purple from the beginning
    12.
