    Wow just seeing this out of the box th-cam.com/users/postUgkxQr1yd4Zc6qJF-scTB6Zb9dQbVpviuRxB recommend I have yet to fish with this set up, but based on the first hands on appeal, I can tell this is going to change the way i pack and carry to a whole new level. If you fish like i do, you know the smaller and less stuff the better. I’ve added a photo of just some of my gear so you can see how serious i am about fishing.

    For anyone who ever wonders what kind of car they're catching, here's an eady way to identify each:
    - *Flatheads* - obviously, they have a really 'flat head', but they also have a little UNDERbite. (Bottom lip slightly past the top lip.) Also, Flatheads get rather large.
    - *Bullheads* - Bullheads do not get very big, and they also have equal lips, or a very slight OVERbite. (Top lip equal to, or slightly further than bottom lip.) Bullheads are commonly only around 9 to 14 inches. There are slightly bigger ones, buy they're one-off catches.
    - *Channels* - Channel cats are extremely identifiable when younger and smaller, due to their coloring and little dark speckle-spots here and there on their body. But, as the channel cats berth larger and older, they can change in color depending on their environment and diet, and the spots also are extremely hard to see often. SO... How do you boo for sure if it's a channel or not? Easy, you look at their anal fin (the fin right after their vent/butt-hole) on their underside. A channel cats anal fin will have a nice curve to it that sweeps from the front of the anal fin to the main part of the anal fin going back. If you look st the fish from its side while it's laying flat, the anal fin will have a nice fluid curve to it.
    - *Blues* - Blue catfish should be easily identifiable by their slate blue/grayish blue hue. BUT, sometimes they'll be a different darker color like a channel, and channels can often end up with that same slight blueish gray color to them too. So, the way to tell if it's a blue, is the same way you'd tell a channel; look at the anal fin. A blue's anal fin will be straight front edge, with a 90° sharp angle that runs to the length of the main area of the anal fin. It won't be swoopy, curvy, and artsy looking like a channel cat. The blue's anal fin will have a straight edged front, connected to an almost straight-edged main part of the anal fin.
    So, let's recap:
    - *Bullheads* - on the smaller side, and an equal-lipped bite or slight overbite.
    - *Flatheads/Shovelheads* - traditionally larger than Bullheads (unless you catch a young'n), and usually an easily noticeable underbite.
    - *Channels* - anal fin is very curvy and fluid like. No hard angle where the front of the anal fin meets the main drag of the anal fin, it's a curve that leads into the main drag of the anal fin. The bottom font of tree anal fin will be almost indistinguishable from the main drag, as it all curves together into one nice arced and flowy anal fin.
    - *Blues* - The front of the anal fin will have a straight edge that meets the straight edge of the anal fin's main drag going back towards the tail. This creates a noticeable angled point at the bottom front corner of the anal fin.
    I hope this helps others like it's helped me throughout learning how to tell which is which while fishing. :)

      +Deegan 777 . I don't have a problem with those who catch fish to eat in poor third world countries. But not in wealthy countries where even those on low incomes are fat fuckers. Thankfully i live in a country where angling is all about the sport and coarse fish are not considered as a food source. In fact if you killed a carp, pike, or any other fish and were seen by another group of guys you'd expect to get your head kicked in.
      The only fish that were killed after capture were game fish like trout and salmon but increasingly even those are now being released as long as they look strong enough to go back. Serious Pike Anglers from Poland have to travel to other countries to experience big pike. They don't practice catch and release and the pike have been decimated and now an 8.lb pike is considered to be the largest you can expect.The guy who i bought custom made jerkbaits from used to travel from Poland to Ireland, or Holland just to catch decent pike. In Britain big Pike are very common and kids catch pike up to 25.lb in shallow inner city canals. Just 30 miles from where i live anglers got permission to fish a big trout lake after the trout season had finished . The owner knew the water contained some big pike and the 3 lucky guys caught some huge fish, the biggest featured in a national angling magazine it weighed 56.lbs pounds and was a typical trout water pike being very broad across the back so they resemble crocs. As an angler you get to love the fish you catch and watching them swim away after giving you great sport is a great feeling. With cameras on most cell phones you can take trophy pics with no need to kill the fish. I know for a fact that many North American anglers practise catch and release fishing . There's a big difference betwen somebody who catches fish in nets etc or even on rod and line and they might as well be catching burgers. Than an angler that actually likes fish and the thought of killing the thing that gives them a lot of pleasure seems strange.
      If you love raptors like eagles and hawks etc you wouldn't consider killing them for food. Being a small Island we're surrounded by the sea and so we're very lucky as it's full of eating fish like cod, halibut, haddock etc etc and all of them have firm white flesh without and of course you get totally clean tasting fillets without the slightest hint of contamination from mud. I understand that many Americans are basically landlocked and might live huge distances from the ocean so they rely on freshwater fish.When we simply go to the fishmongers where fresh fish from the sea is delivered every day. Nearly everybody in Britain is only a matter of 60 miles or so from the nearest coast so you'll understand why nobody eats coarse fish here. That's not to say poorer people here in the early 1900's didn't eat coarse fish caught in some of the cleaner rivers or larger deeper lakes. But as technology progressed and larger catches of seafish meant low prices for cod etc all but the very poorest could afford it and coarse fish became strictly sporting fish for anglers to enjoy.
      No such thing as bow fishing here. You would be prosecuted and the local dibble might even stick the bow up your arse while you were in the cells. That's if you you were lucky enough not to have one of your own arrows shoved in an eyeball . I'm not having you on it would be like somebody firing arrows into horses in Texas. The local Texans wouldn't wear it and neither would folks here.

Seriously I have bought a rod (not too sure what kinda rod I bought even!), some lines (not sure if it's the right kind of line either!), and now totally wondering how I should link them up! yeah..main line...weight? float? beads ? leader? what? ops. Now you know why I really need a fishing for dummies video! I need to start somewhere and just hoping to be able to do a simple set just to fish off a jetty!

    Hook setting in fishing with a reel rod is not as important as pole fishing. But it's still good thinking. Guys can look it as a nice alternative for a bell or bobber.

  • @RG_Outdoors
    @RG_Outdoors 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    You should make a video using some automatic yo-yo reel traps. If they're legal where you're at. If they are, and you can't find them, I can get them here in SC. I'd be more then happy to send you some.

  • @phil538
    @phil538 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    Also, ..not hard core fisher enough to go buy a rod like this but do think it is a great idea. Sometimes nesity overlaps sport and when catching something is actually important then this may be great when several lines ar out. ESPECIALLY at the price!!!!! I have a couple of super cheap telescopic Chinese rods and although rubbish, could never legitimatly complain.

    You guys need to make a trip to the Cape Cod Canal. The true mecca for striped bass. Go to Red Top Sporting Goods in Bourne, they will hook you guys up with what you need to catch a cow. Tight lines!

    These rods do look like a great idea, however, a couple of concerns - the part where it folds, I noticed when you demonstrated it at the start that it may have a tendency to not quite line up again straight away, you would have to ensure that it was together properly before playing the fish. Also, to hope it doesn't come apart again while reeling a fish in. Second is the ground spike does not seem to be very significant. Maybe a longer or thicker spike? Thanks for the video though.

      @Grip My Clips 😉 Late Middle English: from the phrase 'all be it' 😊
      You could use 'although' instead.
      It's become popular again in English usage.
