@@YouAREyoubeYou If the new Golden State team wants her, Storm will let go. In prior expansion draft, each team can protect six players from being drafted by the expansion team. I do not think that Storm will use one of the six protection quota on her.

Nika, Ias a long time UConn fan I loved everything you did at UConn. I kind of thought you won't get a fare chance in the WNBA, and you should go to Europe. Best of luck there.
This woman is the all time leading assist getter in Uconn history above sue bird and a host of other great guards. I'm not saying she should have been a starter but there is no denying in my eyes she should have been the one to come off the bench for Skylar when she needed a break. Pokey Chatman and Noelle Quinn were set in their traditionalist ways in making a rookie "earn" it. Missed opportunity but they wont be able to get away with that next season.
Exactly. Acting like she wasn’t one of the best guards to play for UConn EVER is crazy! She 100% could have helped her team especially in the playoffs. I’m sorry but Seattle’s coach is a whole clown. Nika is a REAL winning player. She does not play one dimensional basketball & she deserved a chance to show her skills. If they’re not going to play her they need to trade her to a team that will play her. Dallas could 150% use her & her defensive presence.
As much as I wanted to see her play, she wasn't starting over Sammy, lol. Nika wouldn't take shots when she had an opportunity. Yes, she needed to earn playing time. She will be just fine and the future of the team.

@@novanityray Sammy is a bench player and thats who she would start over coming off the bench. I never said she would be in the starting lineup. Sammy is a vet player. Nika wouldnt play before her. Sammy was on an Olympic team. It wasnt Nika's time.

Hard not to like this girl , I followed her at UConn and was disappointed she sat on the bench a lot in Seattle. She will be okay whatever she decides. I hope to see her play again , best of luck to Nika !

A lot of rookies in the wnba get relegated to the bench and are never allowed to play. They actively try to protect their veterans, The nba, nfl etc. - if a rookie can play they play.

She would replace Erica Wheeler who most likely won't be resigned. Will come off the bench for CC and occasionally play at same time as CC like Erica did
@@eddievlife Not a bad idea but I would rather have Grace Berger fill Erica’s role. Grace is already under contract and a better scorer. Can play the point or the 2. They probably won’t sign Nika and waive Grace, nor would they want to keep both of them.

What I don't understand is why -- given the way she locked down Caitlin when UConn last played Iowa -- they didn't let her guard her when they played the Fever.

She's going to play in Turkey during the offseason, they have a pretty decent league over there. She should be able to find more playing time there & work on her stuff, so that she'll be ready for Season 2 in the WNBA.

The WNBA union needs to have in their next contract, a minimum number of minutes a player must play to keep her on the rookie contract. For example, if a player doesn't average four minutes a game, she will have the option to sign elsewhere as an unrestricted free agent. This will stop teams from burying rookie and second year players on the bench. Also, if the team is not giving playing time to a player, it would make sense to believe the team doesn't value the player and she should be given the opportunity to play elsewhere and not be trapped in a four year rookie contract.

Ok ONE of the best on-ball defenders. Plenty of competition for that distinction. But it's the W. You can't be just a defensive specialist. If you can't be a legit threat offensively, esp as a guard, you're not going to get the playing time in the League. Look at Celeste Taylor. Maybe an even better defender than Nika, but got cut by the Fever, and still struggling to find a team and minutes on the floor in the W.

If they were so talented why did they draft her. You waste a 1st round pick on a position you don’t need? No, it’s politics. She doesn’t have to start but you need to play her if you want her to develop. The WNBA is a 💩show.

Seattle has many good to great players but just a bad coach. They need new leadership to guide all these great players for next season and beyond! Coach Quinn needs to be fired! She sucks!
Why not go to Fever and team with Clark...trading in 2025...just an opinion.
Shooters in the W have to release quicker than she had been used to doing. She adjusted and was doing a lot of other great things. The fans obviously love her intensity on the floor and her fashion off the floor. She learned a lot at UConn that's still working well for her. Goooo Nika!!!

Hopefully Seattle will release her an Indiana will sign her. Before you say she and CCC3 play the same position I wouldn't mind seeing Caitlin at some shooting guard next season and with Mitchell Nika and Caitlin 3 guards are possible. And if Clark is playing off guard they won't double and triple team her she doesn't have the ball.
I can't believe the fever did not draft this girl from or Is clerk's actual best friend Kate Martin in the second round. When you're rebuilding the team you cannot afford to waste a second round pick. And they wasted the pic on suez Taylor who was a really good defensive player and the favorite soccer defense and the girl didn't even get to play.
I've watched a bunch of these exit interviews and this is the best so far. Most I've seen are like pulling teeth to get them to open up. Nika was thoughtful and forthcoming. Hope she gets lots of playing time next year
Nika, Your’e Amazing, Our household became your Fans When you Shut down our Caitlin Clark last year in The UConn- Iowa Finals game. Wer’e Lifelong Hawkeyes But We began watching your previous games at UConn, and we saw How Greatly Talented You are, and We became diehard fans of You Nika. We are Indiana Fever fans, and also Storm Fans because you play for The Storm, and we will continue following your career, Supporting you and being Fans of yours wherever you go. We personally think you should’ve been in the 1st Round of the Draft, Because you were unfairly underrated. Those draft boards typically only look at players that score the most points, they dont Rate Defense as a Priority much, and we know like alot of the UConn fans do, that even though you’re a great scorer, that shoots very well, you’re more of a True Team player that Pasees The Ball alot to Help Your Team and Your Defensive Skils are Truly Fierce. We’re sorry that you havent gotten alot of playing time opportunity so far in Seattle. If people could only see what alot of Us know that youre able to do on the Court on a Regular Fair basis in The WNBA then they too would Know who Nika Mühl is The Fierce Defender and Hard Working Talented Basketball Player that You are. Nika, Thank You for Bringing Us The Joys and Amazement of Watching you Develope, and Watching You Play in The WNBA. Many on here hoping she'll play for the Fever next year. A couple of issues: Nika is a PG, not a 2 guard, and not a great scoring threat ; so then it comes down to trading EW to get her, which is reasonable; but she'd be the back-up PG to CC, and not get a ton of playing time. It might be better for her to play back-up PG for a team that doesn't have perhaps the best PG in the history of the WNBA. All that said, as a Fever fan I'd LOVE to see her on the squad.
What a great interview w/ Nika! So intelligent, so composed and wise beyond her years. I've been following her from her games in Europe before UCONN. Always loved her aggressiveness and passion on the court. She's a great defensive player, and a good floor general. If she could expand her offensive skills in terms of outside shooting and drives to the hoop, it would open up the floor for her in terms of passing, and make her a starter in a W lineup. Nika, good luck to you in the Euro League, and I'm sure you'll come back even stronger next year in the W.

Have always liked her. Good player that I'd to see play more. If the Indiana fever lose Lexie Hull amid trying to trade Nalyssa Smith, they should try to acquire Mika.
I hope she's able to stick in the WNBA. Very mature and hard working. The league expansion over the next couple of years may help he cause.
Out of CC,Nika and Kate Martin, CC was always a starter but these 2 majority if the time were bench,Martin is just a cheerleader for the Aces,Nika majority of the time was benched,thats sad whats the point of drafting them if they cant at least start as starters sometimes,at least the Fever never benched CC

I’m appalled by the Storm’s use (or non-use) of Nika. I appreciate Nika’s attitude and mindset about not playing, but why did they bother drafting her. As someone who watched literally every second of her career at UConn, the Storm really hurt their chances of success but not using her. Sami Whitcomb had a terrible season. She’s on the court for one reason, shooting the 3, and she shot 29% from 3. Nika is the all time assists leader at UConn. And Sue Bird played at UConn. Nika was a top shut down PG defensively who played Caitlin Clark as tough as anyone. Nika is a high energy spark plug for her teams. She shot 40% from 3 her senior year. She brings a gazillion intangibles to the squad. And how did the Storm, who grossly underperformed this season, use her? They didn’t. It’s criminally stupid. She absolutely could have had the same impact as Leonie Fiebich did for the Liberty. She’s not a wing like Leonie, but she could have done way more for the team than Sami did. And she could have given Skyler valuable minutes of rest during games. The Storm need a new coach. And I hope they cut Nika loose so she can actually make a WNBA team better. I’ve been a Storm fan since Sue joined the team, but I’m not one now. What I am is frustrated and glad that the season is over.
The Storm didn’t underperform in the WNBA this year 😂. The Lynx, Aces, Liberty, and Sun all have more depth than the Storm this year! Nina Mühl should be a long term replacement for Skylar Diggins-Smith if she develops correctly.

Nika got screwed. This team truly believed they had put together a super team and so there was never going to be a place for her. However, it was evident halfway through the season that they weren't going to challenge for a title, even though they put a lot of talent out on the floor. Adding Gabby Williams after the break didn’t seem to help much, but it was clear they were going to ride this group of stars out until the end and there was never going to be a spot for Nika. So why did they keep her?? Sell tickets? Merchandise? Marketing the team with her pretty face and great personality? Probably all of the above to varying degrees. They should’ve just let her go and try to catch on someplace else. They never planned on giving her any real minutes.
That's actually a pretty accurate take, though I'd prefer they didn't let her go and instead broke up the 'stars' and built a new team around the likes of Ezi, Jordan and Nika.....

Nika was a relentless defender at UCONN. Her biggest weakness is probably scoring, but really deserved more playing time relieving Skylar. WNBA coaches seem to have this attitude pay your dues or rookies have to earn something. Nika will do well in Europe and hopefully will be back next year. Just not sure if it will be with the Storm.
