Nice update Troy & Rebecca. Couple of lovely Dinghy Lobsters. Hope the weather improves for you - first day of August and we've got wind & rain warnings here for today & tomorrow here in the Southwest. Stay safe & well - Dave. 🎣🎣👍👍
Its an aluminium boat with the old 4hp I have and one person it gets on the plane goes like a rocket. This particular boat is rated 2 person with up to 7hp
I've got a silly little boat called a 'Porta-Bote' (12 footer). it's very 'wobbly' to be in, and the local dickheads tried to swamp me with wake, but it's pretty buoyant. You can stick a suzuki 6hp on the back. The point is, stick it on a roof rack (or in my case the back of a van) and take it anywhere. Just thought there might be areas of your island you could access when other bits are too rough? more content!?
The main problem is the strength of the tides here and even other parts of the island are affected by the wind and aggravated by the tides. The one place that possibly and could be fished sometimes is the east but that's town and a lot of boat traffic no fun in a small boat. Each Autumn / winter we fish from the shore on the east coast. Unfortunately the last couple of years the wind winds have been strong easterly's at that time so we have not fished there so much.
@@Trojwaterman OK, hard to tell, even with Google Earth. I think at some point another angle is needed with these YT things. I've watched enough and become bored, so think you need a new angle. That is not criticism, just an interested observers observations.
Because the big boat was on the inside mooring and the tide was going down, We would have had to leave it on the outside mooring. Then the boat would have been trapped on the outside when the gale force winds hit.
We have flotation jackets. Lifejacket wont do us much good beyond the bay you would get dragged out to sea in our tides and you wont last long in that cold water.

So Troy, if Rebecca is hauling pots, does that make her a "Wind-Lass?" 😁
😂
What is that? a 10-foot boat with a 10-horse outboard? I always love Sunday morning. Thanx for posting.
12ft boat with a 2.5hp
@@Trojwaterman Thanx. I'm thinking of picking up a little something for river & back bay. That would work for us with a larger motor.

Nice one folks, this weather is atrocious eh
your not kidding and at least 2 or 3 more low pressures coming
Troj, have you ever tried chicken legs in the pots !?.
Nope, tried cat food once caught nothing
Do you have to sink your own moreing anchor rope into the sand or can you use one that's there already?
You apply and get assigned a mooring and yes you put your own ropes plus concrete deadman in the sand
Nice rockling, was the other fish a large blenny?
Yes it was
Hi troj, what's the length of your dinghy?
12ft
Do you fish and pot solely for your table or sell commercially
A large proportion goes to the table as that's what we mainly eat but I also have a licence
Are you jersey or guernsey please
Guernsey
Y on earth didn't you go on the bigger boat ?
