I think it is more a situation where people don't like unproven, immature technology that currently causes more pollution issues than it solves becoming the dominant means of personal transportation.
Especially when the reasons for the change are those pollution issues. And also while other countries (namely India and China) are still propping up highly polluting coal fired power plants by the bushel to this day.
People don't like to squeeze their own lifestyles and choices when vast many in other countries are not. It just seems hypocritical and wholly unnecessary.

Rolls-Royce, Jaguar, Land Rover, Mini, Aston Martin, McLaren, TVR no longer British owned companies. Where did it all go wrong for the British car industry?

40:45 Glad to know I’m not alone in choosing one-hour detours to avoid spending fifteen minutes stuck in traffic.

Rowan Atkinson should have bought a short-wheel-base sedan version of the Mercedes Benz 600 Grosser. It is more restrained, less ostentatious.

Paul made a difference. A decent bloke who had a positive impact. The total figure of drivers trained via Drive & Survive and his work with Prodrive must be quite something.

1:40 Something gives me the impression that Rowan is on the spectrum. I suppose you could get that impression from much of his work but I was already familiar with (and I absolutely loved) his work long before I came to any understanding of the autism spectrum so it never really occurred to me until this moment.

I have a friend that knows him. He's incredibly shy and awkward but gets around it using humour.

Well that was 1990 and so, 34 yrs later, some of us still don't want to drive an electric car. I suspect the reasoning is different from that suggested.
