    At my last school we had one mother ask if we could call the police to take her 6 year old son in just to scare him into behaving. What made it even more ridiculous is that her son wasn't actually a problem at school. He was a menace at home, and he was a menace the first month or so of school, but quickly changed his attitude as soon as he realized none of the teachers were going to put up with his shit. Literally discipline was all the mom needed to implement at home, but instead she wanted to go straight to the police scare tactic...

    • @mariondesousa7718

      The city I used to work for had parents calling frequently asking for a police officer to come to their home and make the child go to school because the parent couldn't do it.

    • @rochellehendrix2267
      @rochellehendrix2267 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I've been asked to do that before as well. Ridiculous. Why do I have to be the bad guy and call the police on a child? Why don't you call the police if you want to have him arrested or scared, which is a ludicrous idea for a bad 6 year old anyway? If he continues to act up at home, maybe she'll get her wish as he grows up and the neighbors will call the police for her.

    I can relate to the teacher having her baby in January. I had a parent upset with me and demanding that I move my surgery to summer because of the impact it would have on her kid’s education. I was scheduled to have a heart valve replacement in December. Nope, can’t do that. (My example was already shared in a previous video. Thanks, Bri!)

    • @nikoknightpuppetproduction369
      @nikoknightpuppetproduction369 2 ปีที่แล้ว +24

      Sadly, many parents do not see teachers as humans with needs. She would rather you drop dead from future heart complications than to inconvenience her child. I guess if you were in a burning building, she would not want you to flee for your life until you graded all the papers.

      @denismarquez2966 ปีที่แล้ว

      Why did she know about your surgery? That is only your business not hers. Like it's your personal health situation. Why did you tell her that? HIPPA violation right there.

    • @emmawest5688
      @emmawest5688 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@denismarquez2966 It’s not a HIPAA violation if it is my own health issue that I am willingly sharing. If my medical provider informed people who are not authorized to know, it’s a different story, and that would be a HIPAA violation. I was honest with my students when I told them I was taking time off for surgery and they wanted to know why and what kind of surgery I was having. Obviously one of my students went home and told mom who then complained. It’s up to individual teachers to share personal details. I had a teacher in high school who shared way too much about her life, but I had another who was going through cancer treatment at the time and was very honest about her situation. Honestly, some people will complain no matter what.

    Retired for 10 years now and things have only gotten worse. They don't pay teachers enough, not only for what they're required to do in the classroom, but for dealing with delusional parents who ask these kinds of questions or call educators groomers who are indoctrinating their children. And people want to know why so many teachers are leaving!!!

    • @boopdoop2251
      @boopdoop2251 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If a teacher tells small children about sex in detail without parental consent or nonsense about gender, yeah, that IS grooming. I understand some parents are totally irrational and crazy - but so is some of the stuff people are trying to get teachers to tell kids!

    • @muc405
      @muc405 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@boopdoop2251 NOBODY is telling children about sex in detail in preschool or in the primary grades. So if that's the BS you or anyone else wants to believe then you're all deranged people who spend too much time being fed lies and conspiracy theories on social media, and then show up at school board meetings ranting about "groomers" in the classroom as if that's something that is actually happening in every single school building across the land. Maybe these parents should look for all these groomers in their churches. As for what students are being taught in public schools as pertains to sex; in 4th grade science they learn about plant and animal reproduction. In 5th grade there is a brief course given on puberty, bodily changes that come with that, and basic human reproduction, with the boys and girls separated so they don't feel embarrassed or uncomfortable. They are also given the opportunity to write any questions they may have and discreetly give them to the teacher so all questions can be addressed and no one knows who asked it. NONE of this human reproduction unit in science is taught to any student without written parental consent. No one is trying to "get teachers to tell kids" anything inappropriate for their age and their level of understanding.

    I've watched nearly all of these now... and the sheer amount of parents who want teachers to:
    - track/deal with poop
    - get their child ready in the morning (dressed, and transported)
    - Do special favors for their specific special spawn
    - Plan their pregnancies and surgeries around THEIR Child's needs
    is absolutely MIND BLOWING.
    I expect Teachers to get requests that pertain to a child's medical needs like excuse diabetics eating something quickly, allow for a student to be excused to the nurse to take a medication, and making teachers aware of allergies- but uh... that's it.
    and I know there are way too many entitled parents out there who ask for grades to be changed, but holy cow I didn't know how bonkers some of these things are.

    • @skitty449

      Helping teach really small children to tie their shoes isn’t the bother. When working with pre-K and Kindergarten children, I enjoyed helping show them how to make the “bunny ears” to lace their shoes, especially since I struggled tying my shoes for a very long time. Especially at that age, they are so eager to show they are big kids and it’s really adorable to see them watch you as you go through every step. Those are life-skills which should be the teamwork of a teacher AND a parent, and children should be able to ideally be proud of their teachers AND their parents for helping them to be independent adults.
      Checking a child’s poop and getting handcuffs off them? That’s another story entirely. Absolutely not. I’d prefer helping tie a child’s shoes any day.

Not teachers responsibility to re-heat a child's lunch. If I had to re-heat 5 student lunches that would leave only 10 min to eat my own lunch

    I have worked in autistic classrooms where trampolines are available as it helps with sensory issues, motor coordination, and stress reduction. But these are supplied by the school, not the teacher. I feel that this could also be beneficial in a general classroom where there is a student or students with autism, adhd, or just can't sit for long periods of time and needs a way to get out the excess energy so they can focus better.

    A parent requested that I get certain things approved by her first before I proceed with her son. So one day I called to get approval but not from her but instead from her HUSBAND who works out in the field. I called his office they radioed him and said it was his son's school on the line and his teacher needed to speak directly to him. In those years there were no cell phones. He drove to the office called me back and I asked him, "could his son go to recess today." He was bewildered so I read his wife's letter to him. Needless to say I never had any more requests, instruction, suggestions, comments or questions from her. The rest of the year got real quiet.🤐

    I had a parent tell me once to" whip his butt" if his child got out of line. Another parent did not want to pick up her child who came form with the chicken pox because she said she caught it at the school in the first place. Thsts only a few out of my 25 years as teacher! Feel free to use these😂🤣😅

    S O and I taught inner city. One of the great things about that is there was very little interaction with parents. They were just too busy. But…a boy came to school and asked SO about a physical problem he had because his mother said “Ask the doctor” Sorry not that kind of doctor. Another women who was called into school because her son had all ‘F”’s said she didn’t know there was a problem because her son told her F meant fantastic.

    I am an EA. I had a parent find me online using the information ony names tag. They proceeded to make all kinds of requests of me and asked questions about grading, other students in the class, ect that in no way am I going to disclose. They had tried to get the information from the teacher and were stonewalled, do I was their next target.
    Since then I cover all but the first three letters of my last name on my name tag, and go by that with students.

    Unfreakinbelieveable! These entitled arrogant parents! My mom was a teacher for 30 years in San Francisco and she would die laughing if she heard this! Some people really shouldn't 'be parents because their kids will be just like them--like they walk on water! These parents should be publicly shamed! Love this teacher!

    What make me not want to have kids is other parents, and that is truly it. I already know it's gonna be drama. So many parents are self conscious, ashamed, and plain dumb, and they do not like it being pointed out.
