I discovered another reason for the check engine light. On occasion, while driving with no obvious engine problems nor fault symbols on the dashboard diagnostic display, the car would pass over a pothole in the road causing a mechanical shock to both the car and it's ocupants. Simultaneously the check engine light would illuminate on the dash.and remain on thereafter. If I used my OBD2 reader to turn the check engine light off, it would remain off thereafter until the car ran over another pothole or bump in the road, etc.

      Thank you for sharing
It could be an electrical continuity issue due to vibration from the hole, or it could just be a faulty sensor.
Is it only the check engine light or some other light also? What is the code?

Mine says check emissions system. It’s not the fuel cap for sure. So I’m not sure what else it could be besides probably a faulty sensor.

Watch for also for another symptom along with the check engine light. And, consider using OBD2 scan tool

@@ArrowGearhead definitely the OBD two scan tool. So far no other symptoms at all that’s a good thing, but it’s very puzzling but the scan to absolutely help a lot. Thanks for answering!

Good to hear you get it back. I have also seen this cross issue with someone else few months ago. I don’t know, I assume it is related to safety system like seatbelt, depressing the clutch or pedal while starting, weather issue….
