    The piston is being pushed down by pressure not heat, so lets assume we have a maximum pressure of 700 psi at 5 degrees after top dead center and our exhaust valves start to open at 5 degrees before bottom dead center. How much energy (pressure) is lost before bottom dead center and where does it go. Also if we have 2 pistons, when p1 is going down it transfers energy (compression) to p2 how does the Carnot cycle account for this energy transfer.

Plus how the external environment affects the end result like freezing and/or hot temperature. Life will teach you ain't black and white. Best is it depends, an hybrid of some sort. Any depreciation metrics you see on EVs, look to see if they take into account the $7500 Federal EV tax credit. Virtually none of them do. For example, if you buy an EV for $50k, then get $7500 back as an EV tax credit, sell the car for $40k. Is the depreciation $10k or $2500?

    • @ArrowGearhead
      @ArrowGearhead 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Right Of course, it is complex But here, the concern is the magnitude of depreciation within the first one year (up to 30%). What is the meaning of rebate if you lose money more than the tax credit in depreciation? Even before paying your predatory loan.

    Even if I never had to pay for electricity for the life of the car, I'd need to drive for 35 years to use the fuel just to pay for the car cost itself. Not factoring in that it costs 6x as much to insure, tyres are 6x as much. That said...for some people, EVs are great and will eventually save them money. But its far too early, far to expensive, and far to un supported to think that everyone should absolutely be considering these.

    I think in the USA and Europe EV's will not really reduce your operation cost simply due to the fact that electricity is expensive in these countries. Also more and more states in the USA are looking to add special taxes to make up for the loss of the Gasoline taxes. In Countries like China it makes allot of sense since they have about 1/8th of the cost for electricity and at this time no extra taxes are added.

    This all bullsh*t... The price is going down on EVs because the market is collapsing. Fewer and fewer people are buying them. They have a horrible resale rate. As high as 33% in the first year. Many owners can't even sell their cars because the value of the car is dropping faster than people can pay down their loans, leaving many owners underwater. Hertz rental just dumped 300,000 EVs on the used car market, further dropping the resale value. They did this because no one wants to rent EVs. Also, the video doesn't even mention the extremely high price of insurance for the vehicle. This is definitely a buyer beware situation. The maintenance costs may be less, but repair rates are sky high... as much as $20,000 for a battery. Don't buy an EV (unless you live in California).

      @stan2kay 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@ArrowGearhead that part I understand. And don’t get me wrong, I love electric cars, but assuming that electricity prices will stay stable or even below inflation is not reasonable. In Europe, energy production are based on the highest marginal price, and that’s always gas given that it’s what used to curb peak production. Also, companies always want to charge you more. So unless you have a solar power generator at home, electricity will be pricy and therefore kill many savings of an electric car. In addition, although electric cars are supposed to be less maintenance, the maintenance at the moment costs more. And depreciation is horrible, like an android phone. And that’s not even going into purchasing costs or environmental impact of rare metal mining or range anxiety coz there’s not many charging stations in your country. So starting a video with positive assumptions for a future ROI, dunnow mate. For me, I’ll ride low power used petrol cars. Less emissions than diesel, low maintenance, and as they are used, no extra materials are sourced. ok for environment and purse. Once electric is viable, I’m happy to switch. But honestly, best thing you can do is not use the car or limit the usage. Walking, bike, public transport. Use the car when needed. That is not possible for all people (urban vs rural areas).

    What are you talking about. China always has a slow start to the year across its manufacturing, but there EV sales grow year on year as in most countries … you take extreme arguments but overall EV growth is unstoppable. Yes there are problems, but the solutions are coming to match that growth. Eg EV batteries are now being produced which do not use lithium or rare metals eg Sodium Iron batteries. Battery degradation is overstated. Virtually all EV s come with an 8 year warrantee against this issue … find me one ICE car which warrants its motor for 8 years. I agree with many of your comments but you are overstating the problems.

    As they say, DONT FIX IF ITS NOT BROKEN. Toyota V8 petrol/diesel engines are bullet proof. Turbo petrol are a problematic engine.
