My wife underwent this procedure yesterday. She is feeling alright now. To all the people who are just fearing about this surgery, it is a simple process which has nothing to worry. Thank you all the doctors and also the creators who made this video.
Just overwent this surgery right now for wolf Parkinson’s white syndrome. I’m 22 years old and Coming from someone who has extreme anxiety I was calm the nurses anesthetist doctors are super helpful. They give you a light sedation it honestly felt like I had a good buzz! I eventually knocked out the whole procedure and woke back up 2 hours later. I’m so glad I did it. It’s been a success so far . Getting discharged tonight. Praying for anyone going through this you are much stronger than you think you got this!
@ I feel way better now don’t overthink it it’s definitely not as scary as it seems you’ll be sore for 1-2 weeks but after that my heart and symptoms feels way better !A couple days the procedure after I would get heart flutters but it’s completely normal. You got this! Cheers to better health.
I'm about to do this surgery for the 2nd time in 2 days again (they couldnt find which area they had to burn during the 1st ). I hope it will work i'm 23 and FA caused a cardiac arrest, meds were no use and had no effect on me
I almost died from arrythmia before going to the ER 10 years ago. I went to 7 cardiologists before anyone could diagnose it as focal ventricular arrhythmia. I had this procedure done in 2012 and my life has been a lot better since then! 2022 update: went to my cardiologist again this past month, did some tests and it's all good!
@@jayantzalki8039 I haven't done follow-up visits for 2 years now..but I could run many half-marathons the past few years with no problems. I play jump rope daily and lift weights without problems.
@@AhmedFathy-lt6wl My Cardiologist said it's not very serious and TOTALLY not life threatening and it's probably gonna be fine if I exercise regularly and follow a good diet :)
I had this about 4 years ago and my SVT went away completely! No more palpitations and I'm living without the fear of my heart running a marathon without me. I should say, the lead up to the actual procedure was the worst part (except for the fact i found out i was having it the day before!) And coming from someone who has really bad anxiety when it comes to these things, it was honestly something i would do again if i have to, and that's saying a lot for me. You'll be okay! It's totally worth it
Just got my appointment made for this. I'm diagnosed with SVT and WPW syndrome. My doctor says I will he perfectly fine. It's just super scary leading up to it. I have about 2 weeks to wait.
I was a pacient two days ago for this procedure. It was done in Lisbon and took 2 hours and half to succed. I said myself that it is something so amazing what doctors can do. 20 years ago they opened your chest to treat arrhythmia.
I've had afib twice now in four years. Hope to avoid this but it maybe something I have to do in the future. I know it hasn't been long but will this stop all afib episodes from happening in the future for you? Hope it does and I hope you recover quick.
+Bullwinkle Moose My case was for tachycardia (TPSV) and felt the difference right after. Because I was already living with arrythmia for years (day and night) and could've even imagine how is not to feel that, it was very uncomfortable. I still have to be careful and not to do any efforts but I tried to climb stairs and if before I felt I will lost my soul and be without air, now it's completly different. But I guess depends because not every intervention is a certain succes. I was lucky maybe?! Maybe your affection is worse than mine. I just suggest to believe in yourself and your doctor and have faith, much much faith. Think positively and everything will be alright. Wish you the best.
+Loredana Ioana Haiduc how old are you when u take this procedure and how you feeling now? Are you having shortness of breath before and after the procedure?
+Loredana Ioana Haiduc hi ther eyou mentioned about going upstairs? yes i had this feeling when i got to work i neeed to used stairs becaue my job is 2nd floor. when i reach second floor i check my heart pules sometimes it reach 120 beats per second which is not normal for me and having a bit SOB. So i took my Atenolol for my HB to slows my heart beat... Did you ever experience after you ate too? feel your heart is pounding?
Had this done last Thursday in Toronto . This is a very easy procedure to endure . Heads up that your esophagus is close to the heart , your throat will be sore . I was out the same day two days later I am tired a bit sore but improving . The surgeons who do these procedures are the best of the best . There is nothing to fear and there is no pain. The men and woman who do this work are angels on this earth
I’m here because I am going to have this procedure this coming Monday. I was really nervous but after reading comments here I feel a lot better...Thank you for sharing your experiences!

I had my ablation done a couple weeks ago and I am now feeling completely fine! I wasn’t going to have it until after my sixteenth birthday but my doctors thought it would be better to have it sooner rather than later! I know it seems scary and I can only speak for myself but I’m very happy I got this done! Good luck to anyone else having this, try not to worry!! 💞
@@nicoleenglish4026 hi, thank you for asking! I wasn't awake during the procedure but I think if your older you are allowed to stay awake of you choose. I was nervous to have it done but I'm glad I did because it worked and my heart is fixed! I did have to stay in hospital overnight because a few hours after I had it done my heart rate went really high but that hasn't happened since and I'm all good now! If things keep going well (I'm sure they will!) I'll get to be discharged from the heart clinic in February! I hope this helped 💞
@@mindovermatter6811 it went great! They were able to gety bpm to 200 then couldn't get my SVT to trigger after they ablated about 9 spots. Hopefully I won't need a second. Good luck with yours!
My father-in-law is having this after his 3rd time going into Afib (second time in the last month after having an artificial valve put in 2014.) I told my mother in-law the basics of it of what's going on with his heart and the electrical system since I'm a nurse, but this video does a fantastic job of explaining the procedure and it's great to see the comforting comments. I'll be sending my mother/father-in-law this video.
I had this done yesterday!! Was a really interesting experience. It was definitely worth it. I was having 28000 pvcs a day. And now so far maybe have had 2 or 3. Heart is roght back into sinus rhythm!! Im feeling better already.
Thank You for Sharing, My husband is having this done Friday and I am terrified of the Surgery but reading your Comment I feel better, hoping You stay in good health
just like me . im suffer from pvc. almost 34k ectopic beat per day 😢 . I have to do this surgery this thursday . hopefully everything going well . pray for me too . im too scared 😩
I had this done and for those going for it read this: If you are going for "Catheter Ablation" don't worry. The doctor will give you enough anesthesia to sleep during the procedure but you might wake up in the middle of it yet wouldn't feel any pain so again don't worry. Once done, they will let you sleep until you wake up by yourself then after some time, they will remove the catheter. There is no pain and no other side effects etc. What might bother you for 1 day is back pain that you will feel cuz you are not allowed to move for one night after the procedure is done since the cut/wound needs to heal and will be covered with bandages. You will stay in the hospital for one night and then allow to go home the very next day. Just DON'T walk fast, run or use stairs for at least next 20 days. Good luck!
I am getting this in 2 months. For WPW. You have to remain optimistic about this procedure. I have a very good doctor who will be performing this and tells me we usually have a very success right treating left atrial nodal tachycardia. There was not other choice. Medication can "help" but it will not cure the arrhythmia. Ablation is the best choice and I am confident the doctor and his team will get me on the right track to live a happy normal life. To those who have had this done, I know people who are living the time of their life and enjoying every moment of their life. Its a life changer because the treatment restores your dreams in passions that you help on pause due to the condition and now you can do what you want.
I have WPW and I was just diagnosed with it last month but I've had these symptoms since like 14 and didn't know it could be bad. But I'm going to a cardiologist to do further testing and see what the best treatment may be.
I've done this surgery two times the past 6 months. 1st time I was very nervous and scared. Had a hard time sleeping the night before and came to the hospital exhausted, the nurses where extremely calming and explained that as long as I stayed calm it'll be like nothing. For the most part this was true. The actual proceedure itself isn't painful, it can be scary feeling the extra heartbeats as they're trying to locate the issue that you're facing with your heart. In my case I had an extra pathway in my heart that triggered recurrent heart palpitations. After around 6 months the pathway re-appeared which triggered the same issue again. The doctors concluded that I was going to to another ablation. This time I felt calm given that how the it felt the last time I did this and I wasn't scared, I was nervous of course, but not scared. And my experience was nothing but positive. If you're going to do this, don't be scared. It's a really safe proceedure and just trust the doctor. The only side effect that I encountered was being tired after the surgery which is natural considering the mental stress along with having done a surgery. I also want to add that the thought of them being inside your heart is way scarier than the actual feeling of it. The nurse explained to me that you don't really feel pain and the sense of touch the same way in the heart as you would in your finger for example. The sensation is more spread over your chest, but I felt that it was impossible to pinpoint it to the heart, if I didn't know that it was in my heart, I would've never guessed it. I'm extremely thankful for this technology and to be frank, if my heart issue would appear I'd be more than happy to do this surgery a 3rd time. It might not be the most pleasant thing in the world, but compared to having heart issues, It's great.
Thank you for your honest opinion which you have shared. I had svt twice time my docter has advised me for ablation iam literally afraid to go for it. Your experience making me confident
Twice in 6mos? Sheesh. Have you experienced any more issues since the last surgery? I just had mine a week ago. How soon were you able to be active again?
@@KButterfly31 Haven't experienced anything un-usual since the last surgery, thankfully. They access the aorta through the groin. The doctor told me not to lift heavy objects or exert myself for about 14 days. After that, I was back to normal!
Just had this procedure done. If you are like me and laying in a hospital bed the night before at 3 am scared and anxious, don't be. I was FA REAKED out the night before and couldn't sleep. This procedure is not bad at all. Don't stress. Very minimal discomfort. The worst part is when the Dr us making your heart flip out. Not painful, mild to medium discomfort at worst. There are a bunch of people around you. There is someone right next to you to help you if you feel pain. I could have used this info the night before. I hope this helps .

I'm 37 years old. I just had this procedure done today. I'm feeling pretty good. Maybe that has to do with my age. I chose to have it because I love to work out and love pushing myself and I really can't do that all that much with my heart beating super super fast. I have SVT so I'm hoping that this procedure fixed it.
@@dhavalkareliya7130 I had a fast heartbeat around 90+ for my resting BPM, my only symptoms were palpitations so you could say I was lucky enough not to experience some of the rough symptoms, I also had shortness of breath therefore I refrained from any sports or activity that needs a lot of stamina. Also no caffeine or any consumable that can increase heartbeat. But after I had my surgery, I was then allowed to do everything including sports but since my body was used to a fast heartbeat, I would occasionally still have around 90 bpm but it's normal. I suggest meditating, it helped alot, breathing properly and relaxing reduces fast heartbeats and palpitations.

I got my ablation last week and it went fine. I was a bit scared for the pain but i didn't feel much of it. For me the procedure was especially very exhausting. They constantly tried to find the spot where my symptoms came from. It wasn't painfull at all, just got al little tired of it. They are not sure if the procedure helped me in any way, but time will tell. For everyone who has to undergo this soon, dont't worry, they do this all the time. I’ve done this two days ago with local anesthesia thats means i was awake all the time during operation, to be honest you feel pain at first when doctor puts the catheter inside you but it’s not unbearable pain and mos important u feel something on your chest, during the operation doctor stimulates fast heart beats because he touches the electrical places but after 3,4 seconds heartbeats get normal, and again you feel the catheter when he pulls out. This was my experience!

I just had my 2nd ablation just last Monday, November 30th for my WPW, because they weren't able to get rid all of it 6 years ago because the location is on the left side of the heart and it's risky and I might end up wearing a pacemaker. The Cardiologist asked me if I will allow him and take the risk to continue with the procedure but he had stopped it coz it's very risky and he wouldn't want me to wear a pacemaker, of course I don't want it either. This time I underwent again and now they were able to fix it but they said there's a 25% chance of it to come back. But hopefully it won't anymore.

I got one of these back in July for WPW, 11 minute procedure! They had to do it twice bc my heart undid the burning. They had to go through my other leg 😅
I had this done 3 days ago after 5-6 years of random SVT`s especially after working out. Took beta blockers over the years which didn't do much in the end. So my Cardiologist said either the ablation or accepting aggressive side effects of medication. The procedure itself was pleasant . They knocked me out with a good portion of Propofol. The only ugly part was swallowing the echogram 1 day prior the procedure ( for mapping the heart). I had a stinging sensation in my chest while lying down and breathing in, after the procedure which was terrible but only lasted for 24 hours and my groin looks terrible because it bled a bit over average afterwards - Now i will have to rest for 7 days and take blood thinners for 5 weeks in order to prevent occasional thrombosis. I still have some "ghost flutters" but i anticipate some improvement for the long run.
I had a bit of a different experience when it comes to the actual procedure, but the flutters do get better! It does keep you on your toes though, thinking it's about to come back, but then there's a relief when your heartrate just goes back to normal.

I recently was diagnosed with SVT over two weeks ago. I’ve been dealing with this since the age of 20 and no one was able to give me a diagnosis because they couldn’t capture the fast heart rate. Needless to say my hr reached 210 and I ended up in the ER. Now my cardiologist recommends the cardiac ablation which I’m not to comfortable with but I do not want to take metropolol for the rest of my life. Reading everyone’s story has eased my mind somewhat, but I’m still uneasy with the fact of someone messing with my heart. I have sometime to think it over but this seems like the only option.

@Jeon__gogh Hi Jean. Well I'm now coming up to 4 months since the procedure, Had a few ups & downs overall. When I wrote the above I was very down about the episodes. Happily the episodes have subsided and not had 1 for over a month now, which is progress! I still get the occasional ectopics, bumps and palpitations episode. I must be due to see my cardiologist soon as its over 3 months now. Guess it's true that it does take a good while for the tissue to heal after an ablation.
i had this procedure done in 2020, all good immediately after and for a 2 years up until til recently i was experiencing symptoms again and found out my WPW came back.. i have to go back for a procedure soon, wish me luck i never have to do this again.
I had this done 2 years ago at Skejby University Hospital in Denmark and i cannot recommend this treatment. Here 2 years after the ablation i have huge problems with high pulse and i have visited Skejby many times but they are not able to help me. I am not satisfied with the treatment from Skejby and i have a feeling of not being in professional hands.
I tried the catheter ablation 2 years ago but it wasn't successful though, it depends where it was located, mine was located on the left side of my heart and so it is risky but I still went through better try, than not to, the ablation was stopped coz it's risky and dangerous, I'd be wearing pacemaker my whole life, well I've to live with it and just pray everytime the tachy attacks.
I also had it on my left side, and it went successfully. While they identify WPW in my heart, they also found muscle enlargement in my heart that means I might have to use Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillator (ICD) for rest of my life.

I had this procedure Wednesday 3rd August. Scotland. I was awake throughout. I was given pain relief through a tube in my arm before starting the procedure. Took a really sore head during the op. A nurse just gave me more pain relief. I felt a bumping sensation when the freezing process was happening. Some of the bumps were felt more than others. After the procedure I started to feel nauseous. Again this was addressed with a different pain killer. I was released from hospital after the sick feeling left me. I have a wound at my groin, it’s more annoying than sore no doubt with the injections, catheter and tube moving about. Never slept much during the night, chest is tighter than normal and a small struggle for a deep breath. Every single person is different. Would I get it done again? No.
@ramshakhan9085 there were lots of thoughts and apprehension initially. But then I eventually went for it. It was a 2-3 hours procedure. I walked after 6 hours and came back home the same day. The issue kept coming back till 2-3 months, but now after 4 months, it's almost gone. I am leading a normal life. You should get it done, from a good doctor with good reviews... 👍

I had my procedure this morning. Everything went well. I was there 7am this morning, and they did a blood test for me before the procedure. 8:08am I went in for the procedure, they put all the wires on me to monitor my heart and told me to lie down. Then a nurse told me she gonna put me to sleep. Next thing I know I am already waking up and the procedure was done! The procedure was 2 and half hours for me. They found and burn two connections on the heart. Then I stayed in the recovery room for 6 hours. After that I walked around to make sure I wasn’t bleeding. But my heart rate was high for some reason, I had to take a pill and stay for another hour. Everything was comfortable, except that I had hard time peeing on the bed.😂 I know waiting for the procedure is not good. Too much anxiety. But everything will be okay. It is a very safe procedure. Wish you the best.

Going in on the 7th. Hopefully everything works out. Have not been able to workout properly since Oct '19. Just want to feel normal again and not be on all of these meds
Question. I had an ablation about 4 months ago - paroxysmal supraventricular tachycardia. After the post-operative period and after I stopped taking the pills, my condition slowly worsened. Now I feel half normal, but I have an arrhythmia (or fibrillation?) periods right now, when I can clearly hear the uneven rhythm. If someone have faced such situation, can you help - is this a frequent occurrence after such operations or is it some kind of investigative violation? The doctor recommended another ablation, but I'm not sure that I won't get worse after another one.
Broad overgeneralization. However pretty interesting. I had 4 catheters up each groin. Mapping takes the most time. Ablation of the offending areas, then they attempt to re-trigger. The worst part of the whole thing is the groin access. That hurts like hell.
My wife underwent this procedure yesterday. She is feeling alright now. To all the people who are just fearing about this surgery, it is a simple process which has nothing to worry. Thank you all the doctors and also the creators who made this video.

Getting discharged tonight. Praying for anyone going through this you are much stronger than you think you got this!

I should say, the lead up to the actual procedure was the worst part (except for the fact i found out i was having it the day before!) I was a pacient two days ago for this procedure.
Thanks for the reply, hope everything continues to go well for you.

@@milikALLAH93 hi dear .how was yr surgery. I also have pvc s. And im taking bisoprolol.

How did it go
What was your symptoms?
I have WPW and I was just diagnosed with it last month but I've had these symptoms since like 14 and didn't know it could be bad. But I'm going to a cardiologist to do further testing and see what the best treatment may be.
I just got diagnosed with WPW and am getting an ablation in 2 weeks. I'm super nervous
I have inappropriate sinus tachycardia,,, do I need ablation, I am taking Homeopathy heartbeat is little bit in control

I am 19 years old and have recently been diagnosed with WPW and have to get this done. If anyone has had this please could you let me know how your experience was because I have anxiety aswell so I’m really worried about having it due to nearly dying before being diagnosed even though i’ve had this since birth😩
I’m having mine on the 29th and will tell you you’d like.
You will be fine, don't be scared
I was just diagnosed the end of last month! I get the anxiety I’m getting this done too the end of January and pretty nervous so your not alone!
I just had it done today, and I already feel amazing
I’m 22 got it done Friday. Kinda nervous but they put u to sleep so u just blink and everything is done lol. It took me like 2 days to start walking normal again cuz it was sore but just like a good leg day at gym nothing scary and never painful at all just do it !! Don’t be scared
Make sure that the doctors tell you about the rare risk of cardiac ablation. They tend not to. I lost my husband 14 / 11 / 13 due to a esofical fistula post ablation in QLD by a cardiologist and is now being investigated by ahpra the Australian medical board.

+Davida662 hey! It didn't go well.. I was the first case of the day, and it was only going to be 1.2-2 hours long. But it was a 5 hour case. And they were still not able to go in and fix my SVT, it's on the right side of my heart, which is good and that's what they want, but it was in a very dangerous place to burn it. So I am going again July 13th for a longer time and this time being put to sleep

Hey, any updates how you're doing?
I was diagnosed s SVT on 2020 and undergo anual checkup and contantly taking medication.. Last year (2022) they suggest me for this procedure but not explaining to much on this. Even I did not know the name of the procedure.
This year they suggest me again and this time better doctor and 3explaining the procedure moin detail even provide the name of the procedure until I found this video.
They ask me to give an answer in another 6 month to proceed with the procees. I ask for time to think but after reading the comment here, I think I should proceed.
Tired of taking pills of medication every day even affecting sex life and can't play any sport at allas it will triggered the SVT.
Will keep updating here in another 6 month.
And now what going on
Great explanation. Thank you
I recently was diagnosed with SVT over two weeks ago.
Hey Kimberley. I’m 33 and had it since I was 18. I’m due my ablation 8th February. I’ve spoken with a lot of people that’s has it and they are all glad that they got it. The doctors and technology are so skilled at what they do. I don’t want to be on meds all of my life either and certainly don’t want my arrhythmia all of my life. I’m only having local anaesthetic and will be out same day (hopefully).
@@AG-IR how is everything now?
@@deaucilion456 hey. I’m fine. No problems at all with recovery. The only difficult part was trying to sleep and no disturb the wound too much as I had a fear of moving too quickly and making it bleed! Apart from that, blood thinners for a month then that was it. There wasn’t any flutters or arrhythmias in this past 3 months at all. But I’m back and out with my normal life now as usual. :)

I had this done a few hours ago and my curiosity got the best of me.
I had this procedure in 2021 just a month after my delivery. I recovered very quickly and thankfully my svt episodes has stopped.
I need to do it soon for the second time. The first operation was good in the beginning, but after 5years i began to feel little bit the same symptomes like before the operation in 5years ago.I can’t wait for this to go away faster.

How's it now after the Ablation Procedure?
Did it help
In a couple of months I may have to do this I have SVT and let me tell you it sucks having this it’s a nuisance.
This is a great video and describes this complex procedure.
I've had this done 20 days ago and had 3 episodes of fast AF since! Honestly don't feel anything has changed a great deal tbh. Anyone had experience of the 'blanking period' that is needed for 8 weeks post alblation? Cos I'm getting down with the AF episodes post op.
How are you now?
@Jeon__gogh Hi Jean. Well I'm now coming up to 4 months since the procedure, Had a few ups & downs overall. When I wrote the above I was very down about the episodes. Happily the episodes have subsided and not had 1 for over a month now, which is progress!
I still get the occasional ectopics, bumps and palpitations episode.
I must be due to see my cardiologist soon as its over 3 months now.
Guess it's true that it does take a good while for the tissue to heal after an ablation.
I've had four ablations. Finally the ( surgeon ) cardiophysiologist went in the carotid and ablated
i had this procedure done in 2020, all good immediately after and for a 2 years up until til recently i was experiencing symptoms again and found out my WPW came back.. i have to go back for a procedure soon, wish me luck i never have to do this again.
Can people fly the day after ?
I had this done 2 years ago at Skejby University Hospital in Denmark and i cannot recommend this treatment. Here 2 years after the ablation i have huge problems with high pulse and i have visited Skejby many times but they are not able to help me.
I am not satisfied with the treatment from Skejby and i have a feeling of not being in professional hands.

Do you have to be on medications for the rest of your life after the procedure?

@@anamikamishra5840 ah good luck!! i’m going back to the doctor this september bc im not feeling great we wanna make sure i’m good.
I tried the catheter ablation 2 years ago but it wasn't successful though, it depends where it was located, mine was located on the left side of my heart and so it is risky but I still went through better try, than not to, the ablation was stopped coz it's risky and dangerous, I'd be wearing pacemaker my whole life, well I've to live with it and just pray everytime the tachy attacks.
what kind of syptoms you had befor the peacemaker? i have arythmis too and it scares me a lot.
I also had it on my left side, and it went successfully. While they identify WPW in my heart, they also found muscle enlargement in my heart that means I might have to use Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillator (ICD) for rest of my life.
Me too
I feel sorry for you because thats what im facing 2 times surgery but failed ,if we trieed again need to put pacemaker for my whole life ,
@@waq4s I just had the 2nd ablation last Monday ( November 30th) and everything went well and I don't have to wear a pacemaker. Hopefully it won't come back, they say there's 25% chance.

No.
Hae friend did you feel better ?
Leaving my comment here as i have ablation planned after 5 days... i shall come back and share my experience after getting it done...
Share your experience pls
@ramshakhan9085 there were lots of thoughts and apprehension initially. But then I eventually went for it. It was a 2-3 hours procedure. I walked after 6 hours and came back home the same day. The issue kept coming back till 2-3 months, but now after 4 months, it's almost gone. I am leading a normal life. You should get it done, from a good doctor with good reviews... 👍
Glad to hear that ☺ but I'm just 18 that's why I'm quite scared as if it's painful or not
I am going to have a catheter ablation 25th next month. As a new parent, I am so worried and can’t stop thinking about this everyday.
I’m going through the same ,just had my baby boy and the thought of this operation scares me 😟 . I really want to get past this though so im going to set my appointment soon . Wish you the best and hope to hear back from your once you get it to see how you feel and expierence

I just already know about this, amazinggg.....

Broad overgeneralization. However pretty interesting. I had 4 catheters up each groin. Mapping takes the most time. Ablation of the offending areas, then they attempt to re-trigger. The worst part of the whole thing is the groin access. That hurts like hell.
I had my turn with the Catheter in my groin area. It looked like a punching bag for 2 weeks. It wasn't good looking. 🤣
