    Happy to see more videos on this piece. I love mine. Bought it about 6 months ago when there wasnt't much info out there. I have been very happy with it. Great for hiking and trail runs when the temps dip. Surprisingly warm and will replace my mid layer fleece for many outings.

    Love the that jacket I have 3 of them. I wear two of them for work and one for hiking. Wouldn’t trade them for anything.

    Agreed! I got one in the first round of their kick starter... it is hands down the best piece of outdoor clothing I've purchased in the past few years. I've been buying high tech/high end outdoor gear/clothing for decades.... this is definitely a must have.

    Looks like it'd be perfect for snowshoeing

      Yes, it's a solid active mid layer, especially for winter.

    I've been using one of these for a couple of months now. I was expecting it to be an occasional-use specialty backpacking item, but I've worn it almost every day. Perfect shoulder-season garment with a wool baselayer. Amazing at protecting from breezes (and downhill bike rides).

    Love mine as well! I’m also 5’ 9” but I got up to about 185. I got the medium and that propelled me to lose a little weight so it fit better! #motivation
    The Ventus became my everyday wear this past winter and I would definitely spend the money to get another if needed.

      Hi Zach,
      I'd like to order the ventus but I want first to make sure I pick the right size as I order from France 😅
      As you I'm 5'8 and 187lbs
      I have a bit large torso
      Did you feel the medium was too small ?
      If yes on which part of the hoodie ?
      Thks for your help

      @@jkl1462 I think the medium would be tight around the mid section. OV has a good athletic cut to their stuff so if there’s any question it’s better to err to the larger size. That’s my personal experience and others have said the same.

    Late to the comment game here but I love my Ventus. Good wind and drizzle protection but with excellent venting. Apparently the new trend is to pair the Ventus with the new Nova Pro vest which I just got as an OV member. Heck of a pairing for cooler temps around camp or less active or in colder temps when active.

    I love my Ventus as well but have two complaints - It runs small and the missing pocket. When I purchased it last year, I followed the sizing recommendations and got a Large only to immediately return it for an XL. I'm 5'9" and 220 lbs so I needed a bit more girth despite the large recommendation. I won't downplay the missing pocket though. I used it last week on Cedar Mesa as an outer-layer and really wanted an easily accessible place for my phone for quick pictures. Great Mid-layer but at $180 I expect to use it more frequently and the missing pocket is where OV missed the boat.

    This would be a home run for me if it had a zipped kangaroo pocket

    I've heard alot of people talk about the ventus! I think Darwin used it as well. If two famous youtubers endorse it its gotta be good!! 👍.... and if I'm wrong about Darwin, Backcountry Exposure's recommendation is still good enough for me!! 😀

    Is there anything out there comparable to this? I wanted to order it last month out of stock. I'd like to order it this month but still out of stock. They have men's but, no women's. It's getting close to my mid-September backpacking trip and I don't have a mid layer. The ventilation in the pits is a huge draw for me. I would love to get this but...

    Does the OV hoodie have UPF protection at all? Also, oversized hoodies are great for ponytails and buns! Gotta fit my mop of hair somewhere…

    So whats the difference in performance between this Ventus and a Fayettechill hoodie which is 1/2 the price?

    • @BackcountryExposure
      @BackcountryExposure  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don’t have hands on experience with what you’re referring to, but a quick look at their website, the biggest difference is going to be in the fabrics. The Fayettechill is a fleece, where the Ventus is synthetic insulation between nylon layers. Better wind and weather protection with the Ventus.

    See how small the hood is? Same as their Dragonwool btw. 🤷‍♂️ Sorry but I can’t recommend either.

    It's over priced. I have quite a few items from OV, but I am starting to realize that it's a lot of hype because you can get quality gear for less. I've had problems with their stitching even in my Nova UL I've had issues in the areas where there is stiching

    • @BackcountryExposure
      @BackcountryExposure  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I’m really not a fan of that statement. You can always find “quality gear for less”. It’s just not a good argument. If you find something for less that performs in the manner you need and expect it to, then awesome. It doesn’t change the fact that from my experience, the Ventus is a quality piece of outerwear with great value.

    • @stoicodysseys6352
      @stoicodysseys6352 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@BackcountryExposure My very humble opinion is that a lot of their gear is overpriced and often doesn't live up to the hype. I am glad the Aventus worked well for you but some of my gear from them hasn't meant expectations and for $179.00 I am not going to make that gamble when my $20 decathlon fleece does all I need.
      As usual great video and content.
