Awesome! Classic tune. "Oye Cómo Va" was originally released by Tito Puente in 1962. The phrase translates to "Listen to my rhythm", but a buddy once told me it means "Watch her move" and I like that translation better! [grin] I saw Carlos Santana in person up close in 1999. He was attending a big event at the place where I worked. My boss told me to hang out near the top of this really large staircase in case my help was needed and while I was waiting there he walked up the staircase accompanied by Edward James Olmos and various assistants to both of them. While everybody else attending the event was wearing suits and ties and such, Santana sported a silk shirt, faded blue jeans, a suede jacket and a black knit cap. He was much taller than I expected. The experience left me grinning from ear to ear. It's not every day that you get to see a guitar hero up close like that.
I love SANTANA and I got more than 12 vinyl albums from him. It's just a pleasure to listen to him and relax while listening to his music. It's just great to hear south american vibes like this. many greetings from hamburg (germany)
Carlos Santana was by far the master of Melody he knew how to lull you in with low volume and slowly crank it up as the climax came he proved that you didn't have to have your volume knob set on 10 the whole time a true genius.
Just saw Santana a few weeks back. Earth Wind & Fire was the warm up band. After a slight delay from freaking heavy rain & lightning both of them played sets over 2 hours each. Awesome soaking wet evening! Only in east central Florida baby!
What’s so great about Carlos Santana’s guitar work is not the speed but the unique style that’s all his own. You instantly know his guitar if you hear it.
Oye! I just listened to this with HEADPHONES for the first time. I missed so much! Fantastic. Always loved this song. Still have no idea what the translation is 🤷🏻♀️
Love the comments below...ABRAXAS was one of my 1st 3 LPs (Zeppelin III & The J5 ABC were the other 2. Eclectic tastes for a 12-year old). ;-) Just wanted to add the production (the 'sound/the mix') on Santana's 1st 2 albums is stellar. David Brown's bass sounds phat & huge.
BizMatik going top shelf...🔥Hit Well All Right or Open Invitation when you can. Carlos goes off on these...😎Carlos is top 10. Santana has the Latin influences that set them apart.
I rank Santana's guitar skill as high as anyone. Just depends what I feel like listening to. One thing many people and reactors miss out on is all of the band's mind blowing instrumental music... usually because no one else has reacted to it, damn shame. Probably 50% or more on some albums is instrumental music without vocals. So check out tracks like Samba Pa Ti, Europa, Song of the Wind, Toussaint L'ouverture, and Treat because there sure isn't anyone else that will
Santana Top 20 Alex Lifeson from Rush is by far my favorite guitarist. Winning, Evil Ways and BlackMagicWoman should be your next ones to do from Santana
Lol it's actually "Hey where are you going." Santana and I are both Mexican's you were close though nice job! Alot of people don't realize how awesome Mexican music is, it always makes me get up and dance. Omg I can't believe you didn't say Stevie Ray Vaughan 😳
Santana is definitely in the GOAT list. I think it's impossible to pick one because of all the different styles of music. Doc Watson, Chet Atkins, Al Di Meola are some great examples of amazing guitarists that get overlooked. I remember hearing Santana for the first time in the early '70s and the music just blew me away. Never had really been exposed to Latin flavored music before and it really opened my eyes to that genre. As far as a person, I think Carlos Santana has one of the most beautiful souls on the planet.
The guitar isn't always the focus of the song just because Carlos is playing it and his last name is also the name of the group. That's part of what makes their stuff so good. They just do what works best for the song.
To be the goat, something that I do really care, is a matter of who you enjoy and like listening to. To me Santana and Hendrix are of the best, with different styles, but similar at the same time. Santana is my favorite and been puertorrican I love the latin vibe of his music. They both have a mix of rhythm and blues, rock and roll, jazz, pop and Santana the latin flavor that make them my favorite two in my perception. Great artist Santana with a unique style.
Yes! Buy Abraxas and listen to that album from beginning to end, taking a breath as you flip sides. It brought tears to my eyes the first time I heard it!
One of my favorite memories is 1972 Tampa Stadium, listening to Santana under the stars, everybody mellow and mesmerized by this beautiful music. Special times. There are so many great guitar players, it's hard to say who is best. I tend to prefer soulful to the shredders, so as such prefer Carlos Santana, Joe Bonamassa, and Gary Moore to people like Eddie Van Halen (though no disrespect, he is amazing.) One of my favorite rock heroes is less well known. Please give Steve Marriott with Humble Pie a listen sometime. For an amazing blues guitar and blues harp solo, plus the most soulful singer in rock please listen to "I Wonder" by Humble Pie. Thank you.....
if you take all the guitar greats and compare them by what they can do in different styles..... every other one comes up short , seriously short, Carlos's virtuosity over so many musical styles is so far beyond measure its not even worthy of discussion
Folks think I'm crazy, they may be right but my favorite Santana album is Guitar Heaven. It's an assortment of classic rock song covers with various rock singers. All the songs are done in a more guitar forward mix. Just Carlos showing off--he's allowed as far as I'm concerned.
Mr. Biz, how could you forget to mention the organ which undergirded the entire song? It opened the song and also had a lengthy solo. Greg Rolie, organist, was also the main singer. The song would sound totally different with out the organ setting the mood.
He's up their closer to Jimi Hendrix and Rory Gallager. I had a poster back in the early 70s of Carlos Santana, Jimi Hendrix and Johnny Winter. The three guitar gods. So much out there that you haven't even begin to scratch the surface of. Do you know about the great Irish Rocker, (Rory Gallagher) that Jimi Hendrix called "The greatest Rock and Blues guitarist, that nobody has ever heard of." Quite a compliment coming from the great Jimi Hendrix. Rory Gallagher is a freaking maniac. Find his videos, and you'll see what I mean. He'll Blow your mind. Thanks
All I can say is keep pulling tracks from Santana, Abraxas, and Santana III. And I Hope You're Feeling Better You Just Don't Care Incident at Neshabur (I know I spelled that wrong). Those are some seldom mentioned tracks that rock.
I have come to the conclusion from after hearing most everything between 1953-1993 that there is no best guitarist....there are however best guitarists. Too many truly great and diverse guitarist to just pick one. I don't even believe in having a top 100, a top 200. I want it all. You have different styles for different moods. I can't see myself narrowing down to 1, or a handful. Rock n' Roll is too complicated to narrow down to a single GOAT. Rock n' Roll has multiple GOAT's. The best raw, innovator, and Godfather of Rock n' Roll is Jimi Hendrix...That's all I can say.
That entire album is classic Carlos doin his thang...
I have the cd and yes, it's a classic
Name anything on the radio today that comes with in a million miles of this!

Santana "No One To Depend On",, "Everything's Coming Our Way" & "Samba Pa Ti"
The bass and drums are the bones of the songs.
One of my favorites!
Santana is right up there with the other goats .
10 for Santana .
Ya Biz! You got the salsa moves going on! 😂
Gotta have the salsa 😂😂
@@watchbizmatik But are they paying you to dance?
I love SANTANA and I got more than 12 vinyl albums from him. It's just a pleasure to listen to him and relax while listening to his music. It's just great to hear south american vibes like this. many greetings from hamburg (germany)
This is one of the great songs from early Santana
You should check out "Smooth" featuring Rob Thomas with Santana!
♥️♥️♥️
SANTANA.....TRANSCENDANCE CAN'T MISS.
This is so dope.
Facts
Carlos Santana was by far the master of Melody he knew how to lull you in with low volume and slowly crank it up as the climax came he proved that you didn't have to have your volume knob set on 10 the whole time a true genius.
Carlos's sound and style is unique, you always know it's him with just hearing a few notes.
You’d never know this was over 50 years old.
Just saw Santana a few weeks back. Earth Wind & Fire was the warm up band. After a slight delay from freaking heavy rain & lightning both of them played sets over 2 hours each. Awesome soaking wet evening! Only in east central Florida baby!
I can also recommend : Love you much too much, and the number : Europa, enjoy it! 🖐️🖐️🎶🎶🎶
Love seeing a brother get down to Santana !
He is still creating. Amazing musician. As far as ranking.... idk he's got to be in the top ten or fifteen. It's hard.
🎸💯 Santana has ALWAYS been 🔥‼
Carlos Santana is a legendary guitarist‼🐐
Great choice for a reaction BizMatik‼
31K subs⁉️ Congratulations‼☮ ❤ 🎶
Thank you 🙌🏿🙌🏿
Yes Biz the bass guitar is an incredible instrument i watched a video of a guy that plays bass and his dad said you’ll always have a job
The Skynyrd guitarists were Ed King ,Allen Collins,Gary Rossington and later on before the crash Steve Gains,All of them were tremendous players!
What’s so great about Carlos Santana’s guitar work is not the speed but the unique
style that’s all his own. You instantly know his guitar if you hear it.
Agree...not about speed/notes. It's about feel, emotion, tone. It's a sonic stew.
SANTANA, "OYE COMO VA". late 60's and 70'S one of my friends and I favorite bands. Musically was outstanding...
Puff Puff Pass 🍃🔥🌬
I hear thee...another: Trower's BRIDGE OF SIGHS is a classic Stoner Rock album. IIRC. ;-P
The best!!!
Oh yeah, come over. LMAO 😂 Ok, I'll be right over 😄 I Really Do love you, Biz! ♥️
😂😂🙌🏿🙌🏿
Oye! I just listened to this with HEADPHONES for the first time. I missed so much! Fantastic. Always loved this song. Still have no idea what the translation is 🤷🏻♀️
Headphones is a must
@@watchbizmatik Absolutely. The quality of sound is astounding.
Next Santana song?
"Se Acabo".....
It's fire!

SRV and Dave Gilmour (not sure I spelled that correctly) as well.

You're on 🔥 Biz, with these reactions tonight. For a different sound by them try Winning
Thanks fam
This is the music we had in the early 70s. Man we had it good in those days as far as thte quality of the music. There was so much of it too.
Thanks
The next album has a song called Toussaint Louverture. it is brilliant
Santana is definitely in the GOAT list.

The guitar isn't always the focus of the song just because Carlos is playing it and his last name is also the name of the group. That's part of what makes their stuff so good. They just do what works best for the song.
You could try the triangle :)

I hear you, and agree. And it's a shame lil Stevie Marriott never got his due. Black Coffee is 🔥💥🔥
I doubt that most big name guitarists could play Transendence
Santana is a great guitar player. I Thinks he's up there with the best.
❤️🤗🤩
My favourite Guitarist.
5: Jimi Hendrix
4: Carlos Santana
3: Peter Green
2: David Glimoure
1: Tony Iommi
🎶☮️💜🎶
Allen Collings Gary Rossington = Lynryd Skynyrd
if you take all the guitar greats and compare them by what they can do in different styles..... every other one comes up short , seriously short, Carlos's virtuosity over so many musical styles is so far beyond measure its not even worthy of discussion
Another band with that intense Latin vibe and Afro-Cuban drumming are The Fania Allstars with Ray Barretto.
"Sounds like I'm on vacation".....indeed.
Who ever was playing the organ. That is some of the greatest shit i have ever heard.
No One To Depend On - Santana
Bizmatik, it's time for you to go down the rabbit hole of Rory Gallagher's guitar mastery. I recommend his live stuff the most.
It translates to "do you like the sound of my music"
Legend
Don’t forget David Gilmour, my personal favorite.🙂
Facts
Oh, I am so glad that you didn.t play the radio version.
Nobody watches 'Smooth' live version.
I sure hope you will.
Amazing.
He speaks to me more than all the other greats, even Hendrix, whom I adore.

I’m not sure how much help the lyrics will be, for you.
😂😂😂😂😂
Two of the founding members of Journey played with Carlos.
That would be Greg Rollings and Neil Schon.
Dude! you are going to be singing that for the rest of your LIFE!!🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

P.S. It's Satriani-but a damn fine stab at it!
😂😂😂 I tried
Your next Santana fix: check out the instrumental "Europa: Heaven's Smile". The guitar work from Carlos in that track is not of this world.
I feel like sipping a Corona 🍺
Thats how i felt lol vacation mode

Incident at Neshabur (I know I spelled that wrong).
Those are some seldom mentioned tracks that rock.
Carlos Santana does not play his guitar, he makes it sing in a unique way.
Personally, I rank Santana top 10 guitarist but not top 5.
