I would highly recommend anyone watching this to read it all for yourself. It's self explanatory and not confusing. I don't know what traditions this man is reading these verses through, but he has read into the text more than what it plainly says.
Also in the end when he says we havent built a golden calf again, thats missing the point. The golden calf is any ideology, or ungodliness that we choose over him. This is probably his worst take, tbh.
Good observation. I wish you will also regard the pastor's sermon to equal criticism. This is necessary because all of them are men and not witnesses of the biblical accounts. So the correct attitude towards teachings of God's Word should be that of filtering backed by personal study of the scriptures and inspired understanding by the Spirit of God. So just do that. Filter, and hold onto that which is true.
@@oluwadarematthews9359 I try to hold everyone to the same standard. It's good to look for the nuggets of truth. Even if an Atheist quoted the Bible, it still has power because it's God's word.
Some unanswered questions: If the riff raff were to blame, why did God want to punish the Jews? If the Jews didn’t build the golden calf, how is it a lesson about them? Why did God forgive the Jews for something they did not do? Why is Moses not believing God when He told him about the golden calf a good leadership trait? Does that mean that believing in the Jewish people is more important than believing God? What happened to the riff raff?

I am Korean. I have Hebrew Tanakh and the Bible translated into Korean and English(NIV), and I have read both Korean and English version but not the one in Hebrew as I can't read Hebrew. However, now I wish I can read the Torah in Hebrew. English(NIV) translation has written as below: When the people saw that Moses was so long in coming down from the mountain, they gathered around Aaron and said, "Come, make us gods who will go before us. As for this fellow Moses who brought us up out of Egypt, we don't know what has happened to him." Aaron answered them, "Take off the gold earrings that your wives, your sons and your daughters are wearing, and bring them to me." So all the people took off their earrings and brought them to Aaron. He took what they handed him and take it into an idol cast in the shape of a calf, fashioning it with a tool. Then they said, "These are your gods, O Israel, who brought you up out of Egypt." When Aaron saw this, he built an altar in front of the calf and announced, "Tomorrow there will be a festival to the Lord." Moreover, in Korean version, it clearly states that "Aaron took what they handed him and take it into an idol cast in the shape of a calf, fashioning it with a tool." So, both Korean and English translation indicate that it was Aaron who made the golden calf with his own hands. Now I want to know what my Hebrew Tanakh says.. It will be a long journey to achieve, but I wish I can read Hebrew Tanakh someday. 🕯🙏🕯

My Torah specifically says Aaron “fashioned” and “molded” the golden calf. See Exodus 32:4. The story of the gold making itself into a golden calf comes from Aaron’s account to Moses in verse 24. Either Moses lies to us in verse 4, or Aaron lied to Moses in verse 24. And given that whole chapter shows Aaron was a pushover and had no backbone during Moses’s absence, I would say Aaron’s account doesn’t have much credibility, and I would trust Moses’s account in verse 4.
The idea for something being thrown into a fire or water to get an idol can be seen in other historical accounts outside of the Torah. The understanding that has been proposed by scholars who have studied the procedures described is that the priests would fashion the idol, and then make this declaration to the people. So, perhaps Aaron and the priests followed this process, which would explain the differing description.
Interesting interpretation of the scriptures to exonerate the people from their sins. It doesn't follow what I have read in the Old Testament at all. Aaron is punished by God for what he had done.

Dear sir. I am jewish and was born and raised in Russia. I remember that all Russian hews were more like one, but when i came to visit in Israel I found out that there is a big division amongst jewish believers. All kinds of different denominations and it made me sad. Why is there a religious division? Thank you
This is the same caste system still thriving in India where the Kalani Tribe, the priestly class of Hinduism serving Brahma (Abram later) and Krishna (the Christ later, as well), first began before being cursed for all time and driven out of India. The Hebrews began in India, the Untouchables are the Hebrews' lower class remnants still being exploited and derided after so many thousands of years in India to this day. Is(is) Ra El(ohim) needs some truth added to the mix these days.
Kile, there is religious division, some big, some small and all kind of different denominations and that need not make you sad. It works better that way. With room to make minor adjustments, that gives people a way to be part of the bigger group and still feel that they are expressing their own path. That's how we still have Abrahamic faiths, although the three of them have differences. Kosher and Halal are close but different. No meat on Friday for Christians. None of these three "big divisions" prevent the grandchildren of Abraham from belonging to his family.
Dani, this is because there so many commandments a Jew must fulfill that it is impossible to fullfil them all. So different movements -- they are not casts and usually group around a particular Rabbi --- emphasize different things. The main division is threepartite: Orthodox, Conservative, and Reform. The Orthodox view the commandments as unchangeable in time and try to live by all laws (minus those that pertain to the Temple). The Reform think it is impossible in modern life amd emphasize tradition rather that faith. This movement was invented in rhe early 1800s Germany, imported into the U.S. in 1860s, where it still thrives, but was totally extinct in Germqny itself buly 1910. The Conservative movement tries to take a middle position and is not doing well. If you like Jewish food and traditions, join a Reform synagogue. If you want to learn what Judaism and Jewish history are, join the Lubavitche Chabad. The Lubavitxh are unique among the Orthodox in that that they themselves obey all rhe laws but close their eyes COMPLETELY on rhe fact that tou may not be doing do. No, they don't forgive you -- no patronizing on their part -- but they literally do no se that. They say, "nothing matters but the fact that you are hear." The objective of the Chabads is to let the Jews who left Judaism reconnect with what they have left. Nothing else.
I wonder what translation or Torah he uses. Mine says "So all the people took off their earrings and brought them to Aaron. He took what they handed him and made it into an idol cast in the shape of a calf, fashioning it with a tool."
I have a little problem with this teaching, where the rabbi insinuated that there were Egyptians who joined the Israelites when they left Egypt. Is there any historical write up or authority to back up this claim? Or is it a present day prophetic revelation? Which as a Jeshuah Hamaschiach's follower, I can still accept this outrageous claim. I must confess Rabbi Manis that I enjoy your teachings, but at the same time, I m scared it may be misleading, because it errs away from Torah's original straight words. And how msny non Jews have you converted to Judaism. I m an Igbo and believe that Igbos are Israelites.
This is why religion is just a game. The Rabbi mispoke. He says “a golden calf has never happened again”, incorrect, see 1 Kings 12:28, “Whereupon the king took counsel, and made two calves of gold, and said unto them, It is too much for you to go up to Jerusalem: behold thy gods, O Israel, which brought thee up out of the land of Egypt.” KJV. That occurred after Mt Sinai in the biblical kingdom periods and the Torah attests to this idol worship in many instances. See 2 Kings 17:7-16 and 2 Kings 21. Sorry Rabbi, but we don’t like misinformation...
Lol if you listened to this whole video and then took it to mean that he was talking about a *literal* golden calf, you’ve missed the point entirely. For those in doubt, mainly the Christian commenters. Who only read with their eyes and not with comprehension or critical thinking (no disrespect). I see a lot of them saying that Aaron did make it, and they are quoting Exodus 32:4. Egyptians did come with the Jews Exodus 12:38. They are the ones that said "These are your g-ds..." The Egyptians were the "THEY" who said that, though there are Jews that did fall for it, and worshipped the Calf. The Egyptians were the instigators. Aaron did not lie, he was G-d-fearing. He wouldn't just forget HaShem in a few days, especially fall into idolatry. He threw it into the fire, and the Calf emerged. Exodus 32:4 is missing detail that was cleared in future verses. He placed it into the mold, and he made it, how? It must've been a huge mold, for a people over 6000 (true number is debated). One man crafted this calf, by himself, with that much gold and other jewelry in less than a day? A regular knife takes 15 to 20 hours to make. Aaron did try to make it to where they did not worship the Calf. In Exodus 32:5 he tried to tell them to make a festival to HaShem, the true G-d. This verse even uses the name of HaShem, and not the word g-d or the Calf. When Aaron saw this, he built an altar before him; and Aaron announced: “Tomorrow shall be a festival of HaShem!” "When Aaron saw this" This plan didn't work, so the people not faithful awoke in the morning and started to worship the Calf. Instead, the people had a festival for this Calf. This was a failure of Aaron's leadership, not his faithfulness to HaShem. Remember HaShem casted a plague onto the people, punishing the people for letting this happen, including Aaron. He was blaimed, because this happened under his watch, and wasn't able to stop them. He could've done more. As for this fellow Moses who brought us up out of Egypt, we don’t know what has happened to him.” 2 Aaron answered them, “Take off the gold earrings that your wives, your sons and your daughters are wearing, and bring them to me.” 3 So all the people took off their earrings and brought them to Aaron. 4 He took what they handed him and made it into an idol cast in the shape of a calf, fashioning it with a tool. Then they said, “These are your gods,[b] Israel, who brought you up out of Egypt.”
What's interesting about this story is that God sent Aaron AS the prophet of God- which he was by calling from God- to God- for God and God sent Moses who was called from God - to God- for God as a prophet of God and was sent LIKE God to pharoah- the golden calf was made from the jewelry God allowed them to have from their enemies- and their enemy never hesitated -people mention the story of the Exodus like Aaron wasn't much of a participant -like Moses went alone- Aaron spoke for Moses while God told Moses what to say to Aaron- both being blood brothers physically and spiritually- then Marian a natural sister and sister in the Lord cursed with leprosy for her antics against Moses while Moses allowing to have leprosy on his hand after putting it on his chest under his clothing for a lesson in the school room of the Holy spirit There is not a line in the writ of script that can't be expanded on and deeply should God allow- I was allowed to SEE this in the spirit

Sorry, don't buy it. Not about Egyptian magicians,. Aaron made a huge error in even considering making a idol. a idol is a idol, is a idol, no matter the intent.
I agree Alex. Like the Rabbi said the Torah is perfect. The Torah makes no mentiom of the group of Egyptians coming with them. So it makes sense, but its not in the Torah. Oral tradition or whatever just made that up it seems.

According to the twentieth chapter of the Quran, Samiri created the calf while Moses was away for 40 days on Mount Sinai, receiving the Ten Commandments
I don’t buy the explanation. Exodus 12 clearly states anyone who wanted to partake in Passover had to be circumcised. This included the foreigner who came out with them. One law for both natural and foreigner. These instructions came from God, not Moses.
It goes for the foreigners with Israelites around. Not the foreigners outside Israel, the country. If you are not in Israel or within a Jewish community, and no Jew guides you how to do their laws, you are not qualified. You can do it but there is no benefit as it is not for you. Only Jews can do their Passover the right way. And rabbis circumcize them as 8 days old newly born babies. Will a rabbi circumcize you if you are not a convert, I do not think so.

Where are you getting the information about sorcerers accompanying the Hebrews? It's not in the text. The text also says that Aaron fashioned the calf with a tool. After stating that fidelity to the text is the highest priority it appears that you are not doing so yourself! So much conjecture in this version of events!
As long as you don't have an oral torah you will never be able to understand the text. Just remember that in translation you always depend on oral tradtion because part of the oral tradition is the vowel system in hebrew that is not written inside a sefer torah, only in print.
It sounds like the people couldn't wait to get rid of Moses. They got the times confused by one day. And that's all it took for them to turn away from him? They couldn't give him an extra couple of days a week? And didn't they just come out of captivity slavery? Did the gold come from I never knew slaves to have gold.
In the Quran it says that they took "ElEgel" after Moses. That exact word in arabic means calf and means impatient or hasten things. Also there was mention in the Quran labeled as the "Samery"

I'm a Muslim. Now I understand why God Almighty had to send a fresh revelation and clear the contradictions, doubts and inconsistencies. Qur'an explicitly says, Aaron opposed vehemently but he was overpowered. He didn't raised open rebellion by gathering forces of his supporters (opposers of idolatry) with the fear of creating rift, factionalism and disturbing unity among the children of Israel. The plan of creating golden calf and its execution was by an Israeli magician (trained by Egyptians) by name Samariy. Qur'an 20:83-99 83. “And what made you rush ahead of your people, O Moses?” 84. He said, “They are following in my footsteps; and I hurried on to You, my Lord, that you may be pleased.” 85. He said, “We have tested your people in your absence, and the Samarian misled them.” 86. So Moses returned to his people, angry and disappointed. He said, “O my people, did your Lord not promise you a good promise? Was the time too long for you? Or did you want wrath from your Lord to descend upon you, so you broke your promise to me?” 87. They said, “We did not break our promise to you by our choice, but we were made to carry loads of the people’s ornaments, and we cast them in. That was what the Samarian suggested.” 88. So he produced for them a calf-a mere body which lowed. And they said, “This is your god, and the god of Moses, but he has forgotten.” 89. Did they not see that it cannot return a word to them, and has no power to harm them or benefit them? 90. Aaron had said to them before, “O my people, you are being tested by this. And your Lord is the Merciful, so follow me, and obey my command.” 91. They said, “We will not give up our devotion to it, until Moses returns to us.” 92. He said, “O Aaron, what prevented you, when you saw them going astray. 93. From following me? Did you disobey my command?” 94. He said, “Son of my mother, do not seize me by my beard or my head. I feared you would say, `You have caused division among the Children of Israel, and did not regard my word.'“ 95. He said, “What do you have to say, O Samarian?” 96. He said, “I saw what they did not see, so I grasped a handful from the Messenger’s traces, and I flung it away. Thus my soul prompted me.” 97. He said, “Begone! Your lot in this life is to say, ‘No contact.’ And you have an appointment that you will not miss. Now look at your god that you remained devoted to-we will burn it up, and then blow it away into the sea, as powder.” 98. Surely your god is God, the One besides whom there is no other god. He comprehends everything in knowledge. 99. Thus We narrate to you reports of times gone by; and We have given you a message from Our Presence.
Hello from Indonesia, I am curious how can you told us in 5:15 that "nobody carved it..." While in the Exodus 32:4 it is said "He took what they handed him and made it into an idol cast in the shape of a calf, fashioning it with a tool. Then they said, "These are your gods, O Israel, who brought you up out of Egypt."" Can someone enlighten me?
At the time there was a vast pantheon of gods. The Hebrews leaders and later in Israel they eliminated all the other gods and compressed the old stories down to match. No version of this story has the golden calf magically come out of the fire.
In Exodus 32:4, "fashioned" it in Hebrew is meaning Aaron meshed the jewelry together. But the making of it into a molten calf, was the work of "they" you read in verse 4, referring to the mix multitude. Aaron didn't do that. In verse 8, Gd refers to "they" who were responsible. And verse 24 gives us the hint that the "they" were involved with some sort of satanic working like sorcery. Aaron confesses to Moses what really happened. He meshed the jewelry to delay their time from committing sin, then threw the gold into the fire, but to his surprise, out came the golden calf. If you follow the Christian translation and not know the Hebrew language, you will easily conclude Aaron is a liar and idolater, and Moses is corrupt in letting his relative off the hook. Don't go down that route. Peace 🙏🏽
Exdous 32 3-4 So all the people took off their earrings and brought them to Aaron. 4 He took what they handed him and made it into an idol(E) cast in the shape of a calf,(F) fashioning it with a tool. @John Connor You do know that the Jewish people had been invaded and conquered multiple times and were exiled for 2000 years so it stands to reason that they would inter-marry and change in the way they look. Compare Northern and Southern Indians in modern day.
@John Connor with all due respect Sir, I think you are confusing the people of Cush and the Nubians with the Hebrews. Nubians and the people of Cush are referred to in ancients texts as such and the Semitic people as Semites. Two distinct peoples/nations.
I never understood the story of the golden calf until now great explanation it’s makes so much sense now. Thank you 🙏 also I’m Muslim but I still enjoy your video knowledge is knowledge no matter where you get it from.
In Islam, it was not Aaron, peace be upon him, who made the calf, but rather a person named Samiri who made the calf for them. Aaron advised them not to do so, but they did not listen to him and he was unable to stop them. Aaron was a prophet. He did not tell them to worship a calf. This person called Samiri was the one who deceived them because the Jews at that time did not know God well, so Samiri took advantage of that. Rather, there is an event that occurred when the Children of Israel crossed the sea, and it is mentioned in the Qur’an: And We took the Children of Israel across the sea, and they came upon a people who devoted themselves to their idols. They said, “O Moses, make for us a god as they have gods.” ۚ He said, “Indeed, you are an ignorant people. (138) Indeed, these are disgraced by what they are in, and what they used to do is void. (139) He said, ‘Is there a god other than Allah? Do I seek your god?’ He preferred you over The two worlds (140) Samiri paid attention to this and the opportunity was right when Moses went to speak to God in the mountain. He took advantage of the 40 nights during which Moses, peace be upon him, was absent, which is enough to make a golden calf. What added to the deception was that the calf was hollow. When it was completed, air would enter through some of the openings in the golden calf and emit sounds.
Maybe a life time. We will oly becomeperfected when we are endowed with His Spirit and receive our resurrected bodies. We shall be like Him I John 3: 2
The way of God was to difficult for the people, they suffered because of disobedience. So they created the golden calf (a way) which will take the responsibility away from them. Now they can eat and play. I say they went to a casino and gambled their life away because the majority of them died in the desert.
When the people starts worshipping a golden calf, the one who suggest this might have an idea about hindu. Why a calf? Because it is smaller than a cow which is cheaper.
There is so much 'fluff' and BS put into this interpretation of this story it is extremely difficult to decipher everything in one comment. interpretation Here are a few of my highlights: The rabbi says @4:55 " Later the rabbi says @11:50 "My scripture says "" (Ex32:2-4). There was no sorcery or magic here. The text CLEARLY says Aaron made the calf! Aaron made a carved image that represented God! Then "" (Ex32:5). Aaron provided the image for worship and altar for sacrifice. There is no hidden meaning behind what is written. Simple. Straightforward. The rabbi later states "T" Again, my scripture says "" (Ex32:2-5). Not sure how you can interpret Aaron's intentions of biding some time for Moses when it reads Aaron did these things pretty quickly and with intent to worship God. The rabbi says @8:22 "". What a claim that is!!! My scripture says (this is God speaking on the mtn to Moses) "" (Ex 32:10). I am not sure how you get Moses isn't great anymore and is demoted. God CLEARLY says he will make another great nation out of Moses which implies Moses is still 'great'. Everything that the rabbi is hinting at here is just not in the text. The rabbi says @ 10:00 " and share in their success". WOW WOW WOW WOW!!!!! What an ignorant, misleading, and completely wrong statement this is. Who exactly left Egypt?..... Jews and Egyptians?.. or !!!!! Sorry but the tribe of Judah, who get called 'Jews', does not usurp 11 other tribes....DO NOT FORGET THAT. And to be clear, pharaoh let Israel leave BECAUSE he thought if Israel stayed in Egypt, all of the Egyptians would die (see Ex12:33). He let Israel leave so they would not be destroyed. Just because you were given this story and read it year after year, doesn't mean you have to give such extravagant back stories and insert the absurd thought processes of these individuals. Maybe this simple story is just that, a simple story with a simple message.... If you are no longer ignorant of God's commands, you are in sin. And if you worship an object that may mean 'God' to you, YHVH may not see it that way. Maybe it just means don't bow down or give Godly homage to a calf, or a tree, or an egg, or a rock... You ask "how could a people worship at a graven image after they just heard not to?..... I ask, how can a large portion of Israel beg Moses to go back Egypt to slavery so that they may live? How can a people not believe God will provide when they were shown the parting of the Red Sea? How can a man pick up sticks on a Sabbath out of spite?.. Insert your own ' how can' story... Because we are human and we make mistakes. We learn from mistakes of others and we should learn from our own. There is so much in this video that can be talked about, debated, and praised, I hope I conveyed the basics of my intention on the this simple story and you get something out of this. Don't take my word, don't take the rabbi's word, we are suppose to be able to pick up the book and read for ourselves. It is what you take out of it and anything extra you are able to take away is a blessing to you.
You went off the tracks when you started saying Righteous Aaron of blessed memory, created the golden calf. Exodus 32:4 states he took earrings from them and "fashioned" it. The word fashioned does not mean he created an image of a calf. It meant he meshed the earrings together to stall them from their intentions. Then in verse 24, he explains to Moses that after it was fashioned together by him, he threw it into the fire. But ... to his surprise, a golden calf came out. Exodus 12:38 shows us a mix multitude indeed coverted and came out of Egypt with the Hebrew slaves. This mix multitude had gold to make idols. And it so happened coming from Egypt, verse 24 gives us a hint of satanic sorcery was involved. Please read carefully before condemning. Do you speak Hebrew? Can you study the Torah like the Rabbi can in his native tongue??? Regards 🙏🏽

@@GhostofFranky - It boils down to how you interpret the Hebrew scriptures. Why did Aaron choose to make an altar? The rebellious people could have done it themselves. No, rather, Aaron chose to stall their time; to delay them from worshipping the golden calf. The people were persistent, claiming Moses was dead. And he took it on himself to stall them. Now I warn you, David, like most others before you have done: if you are adamant to following a Christian translation or the interpretations of Christian pastors, missionaries, and priests, not even knowing the Hebrew language (this Rabbi's native tongue), you will be accusing righteous Aaron of the following:- #1. Aaron is guilty of the serious sin idolatry, which warrants death or subject to a plague; #2. He foolishly lied to Moses knowing his act was publicly witnessed; and, #3. Moses then let his relative off the hook, which is really an act of corruption ! #4. Both Aaron and Moses are condemned along with the multitude and in not being fit to judge. There are no Egyptian records of the Hebrews being driven out of Egypt, but there are of the Hyksos, which all the stories are about. All of them. And why in the world would anyone who fled to Egypt in a famine but stayed another two hundred years at a low point in Egyptian history not know how to return to their homeland for forty years after murdering the last sitting King of Egypt Seqenenre Tao II who's commemorated in GEN 49:6 and as the first Three Degrees of Freemasonry to this day? The Egyptians did not make the Hyksos Vizier Joseph's brothers Reuben, Levi and Simeon murder Seqenenre Tao II for the king making secrets, they opted for ignominy all by themselves. Does the Bible say that Aaron threw gold into fire and our came a golden calf? Didn't the Bible say that Aaron fashioned the golden calf... That this was the work of man's hand. A clear distinction between the Almighty and idols that are created! Although God did addressed the people as 'your people' to Moses, didn't Moses refer to them as God's people when he interceded for them? Was God in His speech to Moses and Moses in His reply talk about two different people? Yes, there were others who were present with God's people, didn't God finally hold His people accountability?

Good observation. I wish you will also regard the pastor's sermon to equal criticism. This is necessary because all of them are men and not witnesses of the biblical accounts. I am Korean. I have Hebrew Tanakh and the Bible translated into Korean and English(NIV), and I have read both Korean and English version but not the one in Hebrew as I can't read Hebrew. However, now I wish I can read the Torah in Hebrew.
English(NIV) translation has written as below:
When the people saw that Moses was so long in coming down from the mountain, they gathered around Aaron and said, "Come, make us gods who will go before us. As for this fellow Moses who brought us up out of Egypt, we don't know what has happened to him."
Aaron answered them, "Take off the gold earrings that your wives, your sons and your daughters are wearing, and bring them to me."
So all the people took off their earrings and brought them to Aaron.
He took what they handed him and take it into an idol cast in the shape of a calf, fashioning it with a tool. Then they said, "These are your gods, O Israel, who brought you up out of Egypt."
When Aaron saw this, he built an altar in front of the calf and announced, "Tomorrow there will be a festival to the Lord."
Moreover, in Korean version, it clearly states that "Aaron took what they handed him and take it into an idol cast in the shape of a calf, fashioning it with a tool." So, both Korean and English translation indicate that it was Aaron who made the golden calf with his own hands.
Now I want to know what my Hebrew Tanakh says.. It will be a long journey to achieve, but I wish I can read Hebrew Tanakh someday. 🕯🙏🕯
NIV is a purposely corrupt translation. Most of these modern Bibles are corrupt. On purpose

This is closer to the truth
The idea for something being thrown into a fire or water to get an idol can be seen in other historical accounts outside of the Torah. The understanding that has been proposed by scholars who have studied the procedures described is that the priests would fashion the idol, and then make this declaration to the people. So, perhaps Aaron and the priests followed this process, which would explain the differing description.
Interesting interpretation of the scriptures to exonerate the people from their sins. It doesn't follow what I have read in the Old Testament at all. Aaron is punished by God for what he had done.

@@godschosen1529 sure. but i don't understand your point. MY point was simply that 32:24 appears to be what the Rabbi is talking about.
Your interpretation deviates from original text. You cannot add or remove from the scripture. Pls comment on this and asure me you are not manipulative.
The kings in the kingdom period were often corrupt, sinful, and idolatrous. The golden calf as per this story was a sin committed by the entirety of Israel.

They are Jewish people who migrated to Europe centuries ago and were known for trading good’s, but they also were good at other types of skill’s as well, such as blacksmiths and Carpenters to name a few. I mean it’s common sense, if you live in an area for centuries where all the native people are a certain race. You are going to have to mingle with the native’s of that race sooner or later, wether it’s for business or even marriage. It happens with all groups of people that move into a land that is foreign to them. So that’s why their is Jewish people who are White today and plus just because they are light skin and lived centuries in a foreign land, doesn’t mean that they didn’t keep their values and faith. They even suffered greatly because of it by the hands of others who were ignorant and stereotyped them for hundreds of year’s. Some Jewish people were even forced to abandon their faith and convert too other faiths or they would be killed. Then the Nazis where the worst because they just killed people indiscriminately, but they targeted the Jewish people the most because they used them as a scapegoat too blame all of Germany’s problems on them.
When Aaron saw this, he built an altar before him; and Aaron announced: “Tomorrow shall be a festival of HaShem!”
"When Aaron saw this"
This plan didn't work, so the people not faithful awoke in the morning and started to worship the Calf.
Exodus 32:7
וַיַּשְׁכִּ֙ימוּ֙ מִֽמׇּחֳרָ֔ת וַיַּעֲל֣וּ עֹלֹ֔ת וַיַּגִּ֖שׁוּ שְׁלָמִ֑ים וַיֵּ֤שֶׁב הָעָם֙ לֶֽאֱכֹ֣ל וְשָׁת֔וֹ וַיָּקֻ֖מוּ לְצַחֵֽק׃ {פ}
Early next day, the people offered up burnt offerings and brought sacrifices of well-being; they sat down to eat and drink, and then rose to dance.
Exodus 32:33-34
But HaShem said to Moses, “Only one who has sinned against Me will I erase from My record

Go now, lead the people where I told you. See, My messenger shall go before you. But when I make an accounting, I will bring them to account for their sins.”
The ones that stayed faithful to HaShem were the first to align themselves with Moses when he came from the Mtn. The WHOLE tribe of Levi were the first to go to Moses, the ones that did not forsake HaShem. Who is apart of the tribe of Levi? Aaron.
Exodus 32:26

Moses stood up in the gate of the camp and said, “Whoever is for HaShem, come here!” And all the men of Levi rallied to him.
Those that where involved in idolatry to the Calf were executed, this did not include Aaron.
Exodus 32:27-28

He said to them, “Thus says HaShem, the G-d of Israel: Each of you put sword on thigh, go back and forth from gate to gate throughout the camp, and slay sibling, neighbor, and kin.”

In addition, in verse 24, Aaron explains to Moses that after it was "fashioned together" by him, he threw it into the fire. But ... to his surprise, out came the golden calf. He was not lying.
In Exodus 12:38, it shows us a mix multitude indeed, coverted to Jewish monotheism and came out of Egypt with the Hebrew slaves. This mix multitude had gold in their possession to make idols. And it so happened coming from Egypt, verse 24 gives us a hint of satanic sorcery was involved in the creation of calf.

2 Aaron answered them, “Take off the gold earrings that your wives, your sons and your daughters are wearing, and bring them to me.” 3 So all the people took off their earrings and brought them to Aaron. 4 He took what they handed him and made it into an idol cast in the shape of a calf, fashioning it with a tool. Then they said, “These are your gods,[b] Israel, who brought you up out of Egypt.”
What's interesting about this story is that God sent Aaron AS the prophet of God- which he was by calling from God- to God- for God and God sent Moses who was called from God - to God- for God as a prophet of God and was sent LIKE God to pharoah- the golden calf was made from the jewelry God allowed them to have from their enemies- and their enemy never hesitated -people mention the story of the Exodus like Aaron wasn't much of a participant -like Moses went alone- Aaron spoke for Moses while God told Moses what to say to Aaron- both being blood brothers physically and spiritually- then Marian a natural sister and sister in the Lord cursed with leprosy for her antics against Moses while Moses allowing to have leprosy on his hand after putting it on his chest under his clothing for a lesson in the school room of the Holy spirit

Wow! Rabbi makes everything so so so easy to understand relating it to the Bible.
Rabbi, I love listening to your wisdom. May you live long so I can always switch onto your videos.

Where are you getting the information about sorcerers accompanying the Hebrews? It's not in the text. The text also says that Aaron fashioned the calf with a tool. After stating that fidelity to the text is the highest priority it appears that you are not doing so yourself! So much conjecture in this version of events!
Oral Tradition of the Rabbis.

Hello Rabbai, I need to sit down and learn everything from beginning again ,cause we are all huamm and he is GOD.
I think it makes more sense to blame Aaron and the people than sorceres and magicians that weren't mentioned in the passages.
As long as you don't have an oral torah you will never be able to understand the text. Just remember that in translation you always depend on oral tradtion because part of the oral tradition is the vowel system in hebrew that is not written inside a sefer torah, only in print.
@@אי-שניותביהדותwhat's the difference from oral tradition and Torah? And how the oral tradition is so important to the context?
This narrative completely exonerate the Israelites and puts the blame on others MD misses the point 👉
The real question is why Aaron wasn't put to death for idolatry?
It sounds like the people couldn't wait to get rid of Moses. They got the times confused by one day. And that's all it took for them to turn away from him? They couldn't give him an extra couple of days a week? And didn't they just come out of captivity slavery? Did the gold come from I never knew slaves to have gold.
Genius. That's why I love rabbi's teaching torah. As a christian I learn so much
Please no. He's lying. I'm sorry but there's no truth here.
That’s really good insight, Rabbi! Thank you for this!
In the Quran it says that they took "ElEgel" after Moses. That exact word in arabic means calf and means impatient or hasten things. Also there was mention in the Quran labeled as the "Samery"
At that site there are hundreds of calf drawings, all over the rocks where the calf stood a top of.

Qur'an 20:83-99
83. “And what made you rush ahead of your people, O Moses?”
84. He said, “They are following in my footsteps; and I hurried on to You, my Lord, that you may be pleased.”
85. He said, “We have tested your people in your absence, and the Samarian misled them.”
86. So Moses returned to his people, angry and disappointed. He said, “O my people, did your Lord not promise you a good promise? Was the time too long for you? Or did you want wrath from your Lord to descend upon you, so you broke your promise to me?”
87. They said, “We did not break our promise to you by our choice, but we were made to carry loads of the people’s ornaments, and we cast them in. That was what the Samarian suggested.”
88. So he produced for them a calf-a mere body which lowed. And they said, “This is your god, and the god of Moses, but he has forgotten.”
89. Did they not see that it cannot return a word to them, and has no power to harm them or benefit them?
90. Aaron had said to them before, “O my people, you are being tested by this. And your Lord is the Merciful, so follow me, and obey my command.”
91. They said, “We will not give up our devotion to it, until Moses returns to us.”
92. He said, “O Aaron, what prevented you, when you saw them going astray.
93. From following me? Did you disobey my command?”
94. He said, “Son of my mother, do not seize me by my beard or my head. I feared you would say, `You have caused division among the Children of Israel, and did not regard my word.'“
95. He said, “What do you have to say, O Samarian?”
96. He said, “I saw what they did not see, so I grasped a handful from the Messenger’s traces, and I flung it away. Thus my soul prompted me.”
97. He said, “Begone! Your lot in this life is to say, ‘No contact.’ And you have an appointment that you will not miss. Now look at your god that you remained devoted to-we will burn it up, and then blow it away into the sea, as powder.”
98. Surely your god is God, the One besides whom there is no other god. He comprehends everything in knowledge.
99. Thus We narrate to you reports of times gone by; and We have given you a message from Our Presence.
I think there are things added to this that aren't found in the scriptures. Perhaps in an effort to excuse the behavior of Aaron.
Exodus 32:24
@@mtalk828 that just seems like an oversimplification of what he did.
Peace 🙏🏽
Gee why else might someone fashion a golden bull calf at this point in history? And then lie about it?
22:50 how can you even accept the fact that a prophet like Moses pbuh doesn't believe what God tells him?
Exdous 32 3-4
So all the people took off their earrings and brought them to Aaron. 4 He took what they handed him and made it into an idol(E) cast in the shape of a calf,(F) fashioning it with a tool. Then they said, “These are your gods,[b](G) Israel, who brought you up out of Egypt.”(H)
Aaron's made the golden calf.
Yes. This Rabbi ignored those verses. I wish he would explain them.
@John Connor lol. that is a nonsense argument.
@John Connor they were Semitic not black
@John Connor You do know that the Jewish people had been invaded and conquered multiple times and were exiled for 2000 years so it stands to reason that they would inter-marry and change in the way they look. Compare Northern and Southern Indians in modern day.
@John Connor with all due respect Sir, I think you are confusing the people of Cush and the Nubians with the Hebrews. Nubians and the people of Cush are referred to in ancients texts as such and the Semitic people as Semites. Two distinct peoples/nations.
Thanks Rabbi for clarifying. The interesting thing is that it is all there as long as you know what you're reading.
I never understood the story of the golden calf until now great explanation it’s makes so much sense now. Thank you 🙏 also I’m Muslim but I still enjoy your video knowledge is knowledge no matter where you get it from.
Every video this guy makes nothing makes sense to him he needs to shut up and talk no more
In Islam, it was not Aaron, peace be upon him, who made the calf, but rather a person named Samiri who made the calf for them.
Do I seek your god?’ He preferred you over The two worlds (140)
Samiri paid attention to this and the opportunity was right when Moses went to speak to God in the mountain.
He took advantage of the 40 nights during which Moses, peace be upon him, was absent, which is enough to make a golden calf.
What added to the deception was that the calf was hollow. When it was completed, air would enter through some of the openings in the golden calf and emit sounds.
Thank you so much Rabbi! Simply wonderful

The way of God was to difficult for the people, they suffered because of disobedience.
So they created the golden calf (a way) which will take the responsibility away from them. Now they can eat and play.
I say they went to a casino and gambled their life away because the majority of them died in the desert.
the golden calf did not just appear out of the molten gold. aaron used a tool to make the calf (ex 32:4).
A great leader argues on behalf of the people? So a great leader would rather believe the people than God? Nonsense.
When the people starts worshipping a golden calf, the one who suggest this might have an idea about hindu. Why a calf? Because it is smaller than a cow which is cheaper.
There is so much 'fluff' and BS put into this interpretation of this story it is extremely difficult to decipher everything in one comment. interpretation
Here are a few of my highlights:
The rabbi says @4:55 " Later the rabbi says @11:50 "My scripture says "" (Ex32:2-4).
The rabbi says @ 10:00 " and share in their success". WOW WOW WOW WOW!!!!! What an ignorant, misleading, and completely wrong statement this is. Who exactly left Egypt?..... Jews and Egyptians?.. or !!!!! Sorry but the tribe of Judah, who get called 'Jews', does not usurp 11 other tribes....DO NOT FORGET THAT. And to be clear, pharaoh let Israel leave BECAUSE he thought if Israel stayed in Egypt, all of the Egyptians would die (see Ex12:33). He let Israel leave so they would not be destroyed. And Egypt's army was wiped out AFTER Israel left, not before Israel left. So in the rabbi's argument, the high social class of Egypt left their . decimateddidn'tmoreTheelitismdisgusting and unconscionable. This is so far reaching and illogical I am nothing but offended by this. Please provide chapter and verse from the Torah to back up this argument? Meaning, where does it say and where does it say sorcerers and magicians left Egypt to infiltrate a group with a God that gave the plagues and think they could get away with it? Moreover, you say @11:38 "." When I look up 'Erev Rav' it says 'mixed multitude'. I don't speak Hebrew but everything I look up Erev Rav means mixed people, mixed numbers, mixed tribes, mixed group, a variety, diverse.... THAT INCLUDES THE JEWISH PEOPLE, THE JEWISH TRIBE. THAT INCLUDES EVERYONE!!!!!}
adhering individualorupbringing and never studied the actual text line by line (until now). Essentially this story is for people like me who have grown up celebrating certain holidays like Christmas or Easter instead of The Feast of Trumpets and Passover, thinking I am honoring and worshipping God. This story shows me HE HATES those holidays that took the place of the Appointed Times. That maybe, even with the best intentions of worshipping God, we may do things that upsets Him.
Regards 🙏🏽
Amen
@@mtalk828 Exodus 32:5. Aaron is clearly a leading figure here.He builds an alter before the calf. Before this verse they actually do state make us gods who shall go before us. They do not say make us a leader such as Moses.
Now I warn you, David, like most others before you have done: if you are adamant to following a Christian translation or the interpretations of Christian pastors, missionaries, and priests, not even knowing the Hebrew language (this Rabbi's native tongue), you will be accusing righteous Aaron of the following:-
#1. Aaron is guilty of the serious sin idolatry, which warrants death or subject to a plague;
#2. He foolishly lied to Moses knowing his act was publicly witnessed; and,
#3. Moses then let his relative off the hook, which is really an act of corruption !
#4. Both Aaron and Moses are condemned along with the multitude and in not being fit to judge.
My appeal to you - please don't go down that route.
Peace 🙏🏽

Rabbi makes it easier to understand stories in Torah
I normally enjoy your teachings but you lost me at "the Egyptians made us do it". Taking personal responsibility for our choices is critical to walking with God. He demands it.
Good point no doubt there were Hebrews who took part but there is no contradiction that the mixed multitudes also were quite involved and responsible.
Hebrews were never slaves in Egypt, but the Hyksos who remained until Moses' return eighty years after he'd fled were abused. Moses' new Kenite god didn't get them out, the plagues associated with the eruption of Santorini? Most certainly.

The midrash and a few others sources have / add a bunch of extra biblical / traditional details to the stories, which is why the perspective can be so different.
