I am absolutely in love with the Neo65. What I can't understand is the hype about hmx switches though. They always sound so thin and annoying to me. This is the first build I have heard with any hmx switch that hasn't made me want to stop listening immediately, so there's that lol.

Yes, honestly the neo65 is such an awesome value board!
HMX switches definitely lean towards the thinner and higher pitch sound, but they're smooth and generally great to use out of the box with awesome value as well. All this definitely play a role into why HMX is so popular! I'm glad you found this to be more bearable compared to other sound tests haha. I recommend you check out my cycle 7 with HMX macchiatos as well, they sound great in that overall build too! :)

Good job on the video! I could definitely hear the difference between the o-ring and gasket mount. I also prefer the gasket mount sound profile. But to be honest, personally I coudn´t tell the difference between the keycaps. I guess the difference in sound is very slight. This video was very helpful, thanks for making it!

Glad it's helpful! It definitely makes more of a difference in person, so I encourage you to try it out as well if possible and enjoy the experimentation in the hobby! :)

Nice one, Durian. I don't have a neo65 but I enjoy hearing the differences between the neo mounting options and keycap material when mounted on this board.

Great, I love experimenting in the hobby! It can make a pretty significant difference between enjoying and not enjoying your keyboards!

Had the neo65 for a while with hmx cheese, hated the gasket sound. It made the already thin alphas sound terrible. The oring sounds amazing for the alphas, but it introduced a lot of resonance. Not even case foam got rid of it. Force breaking the back weight is also necessary. Ended up selling the board because it wasn’t worth the effort.

Makes sense you feel that way if a lot of work and mods is required to make it sound good. Perhaps a different switch and build would have helped in regards to the issues you encountered?
