We picked up this RC car for under $100 on amazon, and wanted to share it with you. It is electric with 2 sets of batteries. It is also 4wd and made a great rc car basher! TheRcSaylors So it’s basically an HBX clone, clone, but without the 2-speed gearbox?
The seller website states that it comes with “oil filled” (rather than “oil-fillable”) shocks; can you guys verify this please?
I realize I could add my own shock oil, but it’s a matter of honesty and integrity - I refuse to do business with false- or misleading advertising claims.
The HBX protector is an awesome truck. Have had one for the last few months, putting a few packs a day through it. Upgraded to brushless and it rocks. Incredibly durable!!
So.. the big question is, where do you get batteries and parts?
Because it is such a Very common clone, there are Gobs of spares out there for this truck and similar ones 👍⚓😎

This makes an awesome FPV truck because the American driver side is open. I fit an FPV camera in mine and it’s perfectly protected by the roll cage👍🏻

Totally agree, this is bashing, your just driving and having fun, even on the vid's where they get airborn on the hill and bounce off a sign, or cartwheel over the hill dissapearing behind it. Your not doing it to break it, your doing it cause your having fun just driving. And you show what happens with things, being driven or flown as a person who is just out for some rc fun, never intending to break it. doing "real world driving" and things go a bit south. i appreciate your showing everything from fresh out of the box to the end, of either the day, or the rc

My kidneys shut down and I'm out of work again going through dialysis every other day. Kidney failure really sucks the fun out of life... lol. Y'all are so lucky... I'm so jealous... Whatever you do. That is a pretty cool color scheme. Don't know if yall had them there, kinda reminds me of.. think they were an auto place delivery trucks, a yellow with a red and orange tiger stripes all over. Like that dirt area, how you could see exactly where you were driving by the tire marks.

That is an Awesome Buggy! Just like the one I purchased from you know who? I really loved the adjustable throttle, it was easy to get my grandson from a beginner to a darn good intermediate operator and he's only 5! Next I knew, he was turning up the throttle doing flips and just running it full blast and not missing any turns on the course I made him! Awesome! Great Buy!

It looks like the one that y’all reviewed a long while back but it only had the two lights on the front, I I still say that the 123428 that’s probably not right but it’s the 12 scale green buggy I that is still on of the all time greats of budget buggy’s, hey great job guys stay warm 👍
it's just a repackage HBX kiwi or Redcat KT -12 with different wheels.
The stock li on will REVERSE pole overtime due to HEAT..
The RETARD battery retainer will bend bckwards...make poor contact.
The PLASTIC CUP will break over time...
You can get replacement metal CUPS or CVD...via KT-12 up grades...
i slap a 2845 3300KV 25T pinon in runner on 60A esc 3s 1600 mah 40C discharge.
You can get replacement oil fill shocks.
It'll do over 45 mph EASY....
I got 2-ea for $40 ea a couple of years ago ..it cost me a total of $110 total for
each truck to convert it to brushless little BEAST
It wouldnt pay more than $60 for it now....You can easily mount 2s holders..
so you can use other lion 2s packs from other toys or use 2s LIPO.
You need to upgrade to METAL cups....
The plastic dogbones are fine...but the plastic cups will twist or snap off
over time....it should only be a $2..part..
But you'll need to purchase the the entire SET...( $17-$20)
You only need or the REAR..
NATH sucks at looking under the hood...
Good that this great fun RC now comes with the extras that I had to purchase separately for my original Protector ( oil shocks & extra batteries ) , makes a nice rtr package , 🇦🇺😎

I've always thought it was silly to not utilize 18650s and battery trays for em, theyre so convenient and if a cell dies its super easy to swap one out. Beyond that they automatically balance because it's an individual charge

I originally didn't like the "to the moon" guy. But he is fun to watch and although he can be over the top at times he seem like a good guy. He also has another channel that you can see him fixing all his trucks.
Hey we have a lot of respect for him, honestly. He's done some amazing things on TH-cam and his ability to grow his channel so quickly demands our respect. We simply dont have the deep pockets to do what he does. 👍⚓😎

I'd like to explore doing some body swaps on some of these inexpensive buggies and SCTs. If you guys could provide wheel base (ctr 2 ctr), track (outside of hex to outside of hex) and hex size measurements in your reviews, it'd be awesome. I know it's probably a lot to ask, but it will be greatly appreciated!

Those 18650 batteries have become some of my favorites. I have several things that use them now including my favorite flashlight.

I think since I already have batteries I’d stick with the WLtoys 12428 unless it’s an easy conversion to a 2S.

If you jump with skill a big jump is less stressful to your RC than a 5ft crappy jump.
Nice budget rc. Be careful with those kinds of batteries. Do not put them in your pocket. Those types have been known to spontaneously combust.

Thanks for dealing with the cold to bring us a video. The batteries are called 18650 because they are 18 mm around and 65mm long. They are also very commonly used in flashlights. They make 20700/21700 and 26650 batteries also. Great place to order these is 18650batterystore . Com

GOOD RC's dont come with ANY batteries. lol. some good RC's dont even come with electronics.. the highest end rc's come as roller chassis and you put in the electronics you want to use, hook it to the radio you want to use, etc.. its a very very custom experience...
on the other hand, RTR packages i absolutely agree should come ALLLLL with batteries.. i cant stand when you buy an rtr rc and it doesnt even come with a battery at all.. how tf is that rtr? nowadays if an rc comes with the car, all the electronics, and the radio they call that rtr. but either way, i definitely do wish every rtr would come with atleast one battery.. two would be even better!!!! i personally think rc's should come with two batteries of which the added together batteries would be the high end of what the esc could handle.. aka, say the esc can do 6s.. it should come with two 3s batteries.. that way you can either run it on 3s (twice) for like kids or just casual light bashing, or you can strap the full 6s into it and go nuts!.. if an esc is 4s, give us two 2s batteries.. and if the little cheapo rtr's like the wltoys stuff, if they come with TINY little 1000-15000mah 2s lipos, then why not include two or even 3 of them? theyre so inexpensive batteries it wouldnt cost them barely anything to do that but it would add so much to the experience. i used to HATE when i first bought a hobby grade cheap rtr (wltoys a959) it only came with one battery thatw ould be dead in 10 minutes.. luckily now i have probably 30 of those little 1000-1500mah lipos that i interchange between all my little cars, but in the beginning that definitey sucked!!
