Most people when they think of demons think about hell in the Christian format. Ancient Egyptian demons were not naturally evil, these so called demons of the Duat (the realm of the dead) were under command of the Gods. Two ways through the Duat were taken by the Sun God by land and through water and was protected by these petrifiying demons. There were two kind of demons, The Messengers of Sekhmet who could affect the lives of humans in the afterlife forming forces of chaos and they lived on the edge of the created world. The second kind of demons were the ones who lived in the underworld, the most frightening to the ancient Egyptians, a hybrid kind, half human half animal, some had heads that faced backwards, some had two heads, some were insects, some reptiles and birds and also the serpent Apophis the arch demon of chaos and darkness who attacks the solar barque of the serpent who shook the underworld with it's great roar.

Thanks for the most erudite & entertaining content on youtube!! If ancient Egyptians identified and catalogued demons, thousands of years ago..... why do we think these demons are gone in 2023? Did they die? Did they gonaway? Or could perhaps they still be here, present, maybe even much stronger now?

Great work again, Irena. 💯 Super faultless production and intro to what these people thought and, possibly, used to keep everyone in perpetual fear... and under control. You'd certainly want to behave yourself living under these ideas of your final destination. Or did they know something we didn't? 😲

    An effort beyond description ..
    - This is the first time I know that Hell in ancient Egypt believes has 7 doors, this surprised me because the Hell in Islam believes has 7 doors too!!! .
Among other similarities, in Islam any person who dies and enters the grave and is guilty, God sends a bald snake over him to strike him and crush his body, and this is very similar to a violent snake of old Egypt civilization (Abu Fece) !
    - similarities of Abu fece and Apis with iblis (arabic name of satan in Islam)!
    - similarities between Satan and Set god in ancient Egypt
    - similarities between Set god and Abis god with monitor monster in Minoan civilization of Crete island
    - the emblems identical to emblem of the cross found on walls of Egyptian tombs and temples
and on pictures of some temples we see people wearing it on the chest as Christians do
I would like to know your interpretation of these and other similarities, despite the fact that the religions of ancient Egypt appeared thousands of years before the heavenly religions! !!
Finally, if it possible to make an episode about the Abydos ivory cards, which I believe will rewrite Egyptian history .. thank you for your great work Irina

amazing! I had no idea, until now, analogies with the Bible seemed ubiquitous to me, I need to learn more about Muslim religious traditions. it seems that the influence of the Egyptians on our lives is still underestimated. thanks for your interesting comment, best regards

Set is a storm deity, not to mention he's also a deity of the desert, strength, etc, and has nothing to do with any concept of the punishment of so called unbelievers or salvation. He also was said to live in the northern most part of the skies

Monitor monster? There is no such thing in Minoan religion and the fact that neither the linear a script nor the phaestos disc have been deciphered tells me you don't know what your talking about because we don't know what the Minoan civilization believed
