I have the seagate expansion card and two SSD drives on my series S. I play so many optimized games I am considering getting another seagate, especially for a future series X. I’m a professional photographer so I look at it like lenses. My camera is my series S (the “inexpensive” part) and the storage is like lenses (goodbye Wallet). Maybe I should just stick to playing my Nintendo switch, where the games cost $60 for a postage stamp. Gaming is expensive as hell. Worth it.
You can get an external crucial 2TB external ssd for 120-130. The Xbox USB ports limit the download speeds from 400-500 but the drive is capable of 1000 download on a laptop or anything with usb type c
I got the 1TB proprietary storage for the Series X, works great. On the Series S (my travel console) I use an external SSD, trouble of transferring back and forward is really minimal… super easy. Barely an inconvenience.
@@chriskunkle4127 just keep an eye out for an Seagate Expansion Card on marketplace/offerup for a decent price then offer even less. I thank God that I found someone that was hard up for cash and had a 2tb Seagate Expansion Card IOB listed for $180 and he eventually said he would take $100. Thought it was too good to be true but when we met up I took it out of the 2tb box and was happy to see the card had the “2tb” on the end! Ended up paying a total of $115 to get him to drive 35 minutes. lol Ive bought 3 of the 1tb Expansions cards for less than $100 in box, sealed on marketplace. And one of them thats I got for $75, I took to best buy and returned it for a $238 gift card to get the 2tb WD Black SN850 for my PS5 expansion port. Both were $220 before tax at the time, so technically I got the 2tb NMvD for $75 lol. Its all about not being in a rush to buy something!
I've been wanting a PS5 since launch but refuse to over pay. I put in a joke bid on a series S on StockX for $200 and someone accepted it so I'll be going back to Xbox for awhile. Going to try my best to only play a few games at a time and also use my PS4 for some games so hopefully I can skip storage expansion on my S. I know it might be difficult but my goal is to keep it to only 3-4 games on the hard drive at a time and that's it.
You might end up considering on just upgrading to a Series X altogether in all honesty. The only thing really separating X/S from the PS5 is the Haptic Feedback and console exclusives IMO.
@@jigglynorris2559 yeah I won't get an X. I love PS exclusives so I'll definitely still be getting a PS5 eventually but I'm pumped to get this little Xbox. Seems decent enough.
Thank you for explaining the whole transfer concept I didn't it all know about that and I thought I had somehow just gotten a bad storage device that could only play the previous generation games
Okay I know im late to this video but heres my take.... I bought the Series S first and a brand new gaming monitor thatll do 4k 60 or 1440p 120 with hdr the whole shabang. If you are still on 1080p you wont notice a difference between the Xbox One or Series X/S optimized games and you can use any storage you want in that case
I NEED extra storage for the X/S optimized games for my Series X. 1 TB storage isn't nearly enough by itself. I HAVE a 3TB HDD from WD but I can't play basically ANY new game that comes out for Series X on it. So is the Seagate expansion card my ONLY option if I want more storage for Series X enhanced games?
I use a 2tb Samsung 870 QVO SSD with a adapter. If you use a internal SSD or hard drive with a $13 adapter, you can save some money. You can play all your backwards compatible games and some Series optimized games on it. IF you need to transfer a game from or to the internal storage it is extremely fast since it is ssd to ssd. 100 gb game takes just a couple of minutes.
I just picked up the 4TB Western Digital Elements harddrive with my Series S. Couldn't justify $200+ for a memory card. At that point your better off getting the X honestly.
But what about an old 360 game that gets an FPS or resolution boost on the series X? Will those lose their upgrades if you play them from external drive? Or is it all good
if you put a xbox one s internal storage and put it in the xbox series s would that work in makeing the storage best thought this was stupid but just wondering
Went ahead and just got the series X mainly for the extra memory. Having 800gb is a huge quality of life positive and i get a more powerful and a future proof system.
I know I am a year late and rarely comment , due to recent news on xbox where at the start of 2024 any clips older than 90 days expires (or auto delete) , Which expansion card is the best to store my 400+ clips and the next upcoming games like tekken 8? I am also looking to download forza motorsport 8 , mortal kombat 12 , and the crew motorfest but I only have less than 1 GB (have 80 games installed)
if there will be more memory cards in lesser price it will be the best. or if they let you be "letdown" by load speeds from an external hdd/ ssd. that will be a killer move from microsoft. got the series s because ps5 is WAY too expensive and the series x won't work best for me, besides the fact I find the diffrence very minimal in graphics etc.
Had a 1TB seagate and my series x died turned on 15 seconds and turned off didn’t connect to the tv and I had it for the Xbox one and never died so I wouldn’t know if it drained too much power or maybe I just got a bad Xbox
Like 1 or 2 in the front and like 1 or 2 or 3 in the back?? Thats all I want to know! Like no videos or pages will tell me! Like dang ima have to buy the thing and see for myself I guess..
I believe it's because computers uses gibibytes instead of gigabytes which is calculated a little differently, resulting in the different number of actual storage available
I play a lot of older games and my series s comes 2nd to my ps5. So i bough a 2tb W D storage for it. Wont play 90% of S/X optimised games it suits me fine and was way cheaper. I have a 4tb memory upgrade for my ps5 too so i just wanted a w d one for my series s
I have a 2tb seagate hdd & stored x/s games on it & they played from it just fine. May not be as fast as the game being stored in the internal or an external ssd; but it works for me.
