As a dermatologist, I agree with much of what Dr. Youn has to say. I would add that a baseline head to toe skin exam by a board-certified dermatologist is important to screen for skin cancer and atypical moles.

I go every 6 months and I’ve had melanoma, caught by an eagle-eyed dermatologist. I credit her with saving my life. I didn’t have sunscreen growing up in California in the 1950’s. There was no SPF. We had suntan lotion to help us tan. Luckily I never burned. Once there was real sunscreen with SPF I started using it every day……winter and summer.

To each his own. I had cosmetic surgery, neck lift, lower face lift, and do not regret it. I have an excellent doctor who did such an incredible job that no one can tell. It gets to the point where all the “ holistic “ stuff will only go so far. Sagging skin is sagging skin. Under eye bags are just that! No holistic procedure will change that. My issue was not wrinkles, though.

My PS was great and very natural. Jim Carroway, Norfolk, Virginia. He was very natural--no tight pull or weird stuff. I had facelift at age 65-- am very happy with it and Juvaderm volumna to fill out my skinny face a little. Not trying to look younger just nice for my age. Best way to avoid sun burnt:
during summer, if you go to the beach for example, go early in the morning. Then stay inside midday for lunch, maybe a nap. And return to the beach in the afternoon. So many families I’ve seen arrive at noon covered in sunscreen and no amount of it can combat the fact that you are exposing yourself to the sun during the worst time of the year, worst time of the day, you are white and more vulnerable and right next to the water

Actually the middle of the day, in the summer is the best sun to generate vitamin D in the skin. I purposefully expose the skin on my body to 25-45 minutes (depending on date [how close to the summer solstice], cloud cover and latitude) and then cover up. My face though always has sunblock and shade from a broad brimmed hat,
and I put sunblock on the backs of my hands.
Vitamin D deficiency left me bedridden, unable to work in my mid 30s. I do supplement but try to get it naturally in the summer. I have an app on my phone that calculates the angle of the sun to my location and ensures I never burn. Interestingly I burn less when I hade decent vitamin D levels.

Nearly every person on television, in politics or entertainment has Botox, fillers & a host of other options regularly absolutely no doubt. So here we have two attractive, young looking people who have had a lot of injectable cosmetic procedures talking about how sunblock will keep you looking young. Big sigh, while not untrue it is the omissions that are deceptive. My personal youthifying priority plan
    1/ sunblock every day
2/ tretinoin cream from approx mid 30’s
3/ Botox from early 30’s but up to you.
4/ hyaluronic fillers from mid 30’ to early 40’s onwards
This is the only way to achieve the kind of youthful looks you see on these folks period but at least start at 1 and proceed per individual taste and values.
Ever time someone in the public eye claims they just look young naturally, the implication is they are genetically gifted and that others who don’t look as youthful have lost the genetic lottery. It’s not true and don’t believe any of it!

What about the fact that lack of vitamin D is the cause of many many issues in our bodies? Do we really just want to rely on pills to get our vitamin D? Can’t we sit in indirect sunlight, and absorb some nutrition from our own environment without being afraid of dying?

    • @michelletidler6773
      @michelletidler6773 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

I still absorb sunlight. Just not like I did years ago when I baked in it. You can still get some rays with sunscreen on.

He's great on this topic, which is his wheelhouse. Don't ever listen to him talk about 'gender affirming surgery' though. He's totally drank the woke coolaid on that topic and thinks 'how can you not do this if the patient is born in the wrong body?' But good to see him interviewed about something he actually understands, healthy skin as we age.

The results you get from surgery can’t be duplicated by other treatments. I’m not saying you need to get plastic surgery, I’m saying they will sell you expensive treatments, repetitive treatments, like some laser treatments that don’t work for things like collagen buildup and getting rid of wrinkles.

I wish they had also said: You are allowed to age :) You don’t have to do anything to “prevent aging” (you aren’t really preventing aging, just the appearance). You don’t owe anyone youth or beauty. God didn’t put you here to be pretty.
That said, for those who are scared of aging, I’m sure this is helpful. He seems like a great doctor.

I’ll tell you, doctors are also moving away from fillers. And the product based stuff is true. If you get a face lift some say your have to use products a a regime which are beyond what anyone wants to do. I’m almost 60, healthy, though wanting less wrinkles: Sunscreen is good, not chemical sunscreens, but aging and the contents under the skin are what controls how everyone ‘s face reacts to aging. I’ve somehow retained a lot of collagen in my cheeks while other my age already have sunken cheeks. Anyway, my doc is a genius is using Botox and Botox type injections to help in many ways. Stay away from fillers and from having fat removed from your face!
