A qualified candidate is a qualified candidate no matter gender, socio economic background, origin, skin color, or eliteness of the university at which they studied. This appointment opens the door in a significant way. Our ancestors are definitely smiling.
Treu, but what does it says of a country where things like ethnicity are a factor?? Where even after more than 400 years of genocide, slavery and racism people are stil just judge by the color of there skin even in an important government job!!

It must have taken a lot of studying, foregoing of parties with friends, withstanding of begrudgers who saw her as presumptively unqualified for being in the room, persevering when quitting would have been easier....I don't think she is "priveleged" at all. She WORKED FOR and EARNED what she has achieved.

@Metal8Ball she is a judge. She is not the one who molested the children. You need to be outraged at them. She is a judge. Her job is to follow laws and guidelines. The sentencing guidelines are written by the legislature, not by the judge. Can you grasp this? If you want to be morally outraged at someone direct it at those who wrote laws with light sentences for child molestors, and at the molestors. The judge followed law written by others and you want to crucify her for doing her job and following the guidelines. What kind of hypocrisy is this?

Senator Booker, as Judge Ketanji Brown -Jackson is confirmed and named the 116th Justice of the US Supreme Court, I was curious to check out Psalm 116, and this is what I found. Pretty appropriate I'd say.

I went to Mitt Romney, Susan Collins and the other senator's site and wrote telling them how pleased I am that they removed themselves from the retRumplican/rethuglican party to do the right thing. Also, wrote those "dufus" senators of mine, Lindsey and Tim, telling them how displeased I was and especially to Lindsey how he was a racist Dixiecrat of old regurgitating the same old racist theories that were hurled at Justice Thurgood Marshall. Even bad people and criminals deserve lawyers. Suggesting that she's a nazi sympathizer was so unnecessary. Republicans attacking a qualified black woman simply because her views are different than theirs is so disappointing. I'm proud of the three republicans that voted with the democrats to confirm her nomination. She will be a wonderful example for all women on the Supreme Court, but especially to black women and black girls. Make no mistake, that wasn't the sole reason she was picked like some republicans want us to believe. Our Supreme Court should reflect the diversity of America. So should our appellate judges, police forces, armed forces, school administrators and staff, and so on. We're in the 21st century and it's time we act like it.

I just hope this won't be another situation where every time we achieve something not normally meant for blacks, people end up saying later "she ain't do nothing for black folks". Ex. Obama. When we know this country ALWAYS places limits on the power we are granted, if any. We need to start doing for ourselves, not waiting on others. Although very happy for her and this is historic, we must continue to have faith in the Most High and not men. Book of Jeremiah Chapter 10, Verse 23: Do not put your trust in men, for they cannot lead their own steps. If she falls short for any reason, we should not be discouraged. And there are no Constitutional, or legal " qualifications " to be nominated, or confirmed to the Court. You don't have to go to ,or graduate from a law school, or be a lawyer, or serve as a judge, or defender, or prosecutor. So, as qualified as anyone off the street.

It is not only about the first black woman becoming the first US Supreme Court Justice, it is the fact that she will bring not only fresh perspectives, she will bring a new objectivity that has never been seen before. Judge Jackson being the only Black woman will not only bring a vein of an historical view point, she will bring wisdom that has never been experienced by no other judge that has set on the Highest Court in the land!

Senator Booker is extremely bright as well as warm and gracious whenever he’s interviewed. Under trying circumstances working with difficult, bigoted senators who regularly take exception to people of color working on their same level, Booker tries to be diplomatic and respectful to these bigots who would prefer an America with white folks in charge in all aspects. Booker eloquently celebrates this moment in American history when finally a black woman with two degrees from Harvard University and who has clerked for judges in various courts including under Justice Breyer of the Supreme Court, is confirmed to the Supreme Court despite being vociferously challenged by the likes of Raphael “Ted” Cruz and Lindsay Graham. Cruz doesn’t like to acknowledge his Latino heritage so he goes by Ted and not Raphael.
