First of all, there is nothing as "Father of Nation" term defined in the constitution. Whatever Godse did, it's upto the supreme court to decide his fate, not Shahbaz or those BJP workers.

Gandhi created this non-violence ideology and failed to sustain it, and hence he was a spectator to all the violence happened during that time. Gandhi lived in a denial all the while and only hoped that people would follow his ideology.
Godse followed non-violence all throughout and did violence in the end to remove the man who was a hypocrite. Godse didnt kill Gandhi as a human, but he killed his deep rotten ideology which was becoming a liability to the nation. Godse killed the Gandhian ideology which was not sustainable. While killing of any human being is condemnable , but since the ideology was so deep stuck in his mind that godse had to kill the body to kill his ideology.
Every story has 2 sides to it, Gandhi was a man of principle , but when the principle is not working we need to adapt to the changing circumstances, otherwise you will perish and thats what happened here.
All the while i respected gandhi , but there is some reason why godse killed him, I am doing my best to highlight those,
1.Godse kiilled gandhi, bcoz of his silence towards the attrocities committed by pakistan against india.
2.Gandhi went on fasting to release 55 crores to pakistan ,when the pakistan was ready to occupy kashmir and that money was being used to buy the weapons by the pakistan.
3.There were so many refugees who fled pakistan and came to india and they were living in the mosque. Mr Gandhi went on to fast asking those people to reverse migrate and go back to pakistan, when he knows that they will be killed when they go back.
4. Gandhi didnt utter a word when there many refugees killed on the biggest migration to india and when some of them returned Gandhi asked "why didnt they die there" .
5. Gandhiji initally said that the partition will happen over my dead body and later when the partition was proposed he didnt object and gave his agreement by silence.
I have more reasons to give , but will limit here.
But the answer on why he killed Gandhi is as simple as a father who has two children and one of them is violent and another is following non-violence. When this father only advices his non-violent brother to be calm when his other brother is hitting him all the time. The father goes on to say that if you hit back i will fast until death. The only reason the peaceful brother is calm is bcoz of the father's advice.
What would the other brother do ?
