I personally went with the iPhone 16 plus in black with 256gb. I chose it because it’s a different design than the pro models. I originally was gonna go with the iPhone 16pro, but I went with the plus for better battery life etc.. good cameras and well built!
@@ThatMarkGilroy yes the plus seems only right you can save money with the plus. I’m fine with the 60hrz refresh rate I’m used to it. I previously had the iPhone 14 Plus but I gave it to my mother because she was using the iPhone 11.
Still undecided re which model to upgrade to. Looking at 15 Pro/Pro Max, 16 regular (not Plus) or 16 Pro/Pro Max. Waiting to see if we get a new iPad Mini and what upgrades it has. Then I’ll decide. Thanks for the content.
I wanted an optical zoom for a long time and I do want the high refresh rate screen. Coming from a 12 mini that's nigh on 4 years old with broken face ID and a broken ultrawide lens cover I do get a lot by going full capitalist model. iPhone is very expensive yes and no 90Hz at least on the basic iPhones is mad in this day and age. I think the better way to look at it, after my recent dive into the 16 vs 16 Pro is that 16 is the basic model and Pro is just Apple's nomenclature for "+". Pro is a silly name for a phone of course lol. It seems so many things are clicking with the iPhone 16 Pro, compounded by having a semi working device makes this a good buy. The only thing stopping me from already having it so far are the colors... which are bland.
If you upgrade to the 16 Pro from the 12 Mini you’ll see a HUGE difference. Colour wise you could always add a dbrand skin - I do this with almost all my devices as soon as I get them as it adds another layer of protection beyond a case and keeps them looking pristine.
Hey, thank you so much for this video, this reached me just at the right time! I am currently considering buying my first iPhone (having been an Android user so far), as I want to try something new and my S20 FE has a damaged battery, screen and is starting to get laggy at times. I don't wanna go for the newest models as I don't like the 16's camera design and want to save some money so I've been thinking about going for the 15 or 15pro. Here comes my question: Is it worth going for the 15pro as I'm mostly used to the 120hz display, am a hobby photographer that would appreciate features like macro mode and want a future proof phone that will be usable for many years while getting the latest updates like Apple Intelligence? There's obviously a lot of money on the line so I would really appreciate some advice so I can make the best possible decision. Thank you so much!
Hi Dusty. Yes, that’s a great choice for what you need. You’ll get the 120hz display, macro photography (and video), and readiness for Apple Intelligence. If you haven’t already downloaded my guide I share a tip for getting the best price using a tracker for Apple’s refurbished store- you should be able to pick up a bargain and get a full warranty in the process.
Only get the 16 if you care about the camera button/camera control feature, being able to record in 4K 120fps, or the new fusion camera. That’s it. In pretty much every other category it’s identical to the iPhone 15 Pro Max. You should be able to get a great deal on a 15 Pro model in Apple Refurbished.
@@ThatMarkGilroy I have the 13 pro max , I was think to upgrade to the 16 pro max or wait for 17 , I take a lot pictures and videos , I need the best camera and zoom lens , which you recommend?😊
@flvencii6886 If you want the new camera control button and the Fusion Camera on the 16 Pro, that’s the one for you. All other photo and video specs are identical on the 15 Pro Max so you could grab more storage for those pics and vids and with the saving.
Me too. I still have 12 months left on my 15 pro max plan. But with a $700 discount, plus selling my 15 pro max for more than how much I have owing on it, my monthly payment is cheaper to upgrade than to not. And I’m left with $300 cash. 🙌

Yep I think this is the best of all worlds (the Plus model).

Super useful info, thanks man!
Thanks Derek!
Wouldn't an upgrade from a Samsung Galaxy A22 also be worth considering?
100%
Seeing as the new iPad Mini doesn’t have Pro Motion, I’ll be going with the regular 16, … or 17, if I decide not to upgrade.
Thanks for the content.
I think a lot of people will be feeling the same this week. Thoughts on the iPad Mini vid coming later today.
Great Video Mark!

Many people on the Internet do not recommend buying the new iPhone. What do you think? Do you recommend it
If you watch the video in full you'll see I recommend buying the one that fits your needs - that doesn't necessarily mean the 16 series iPhone!
