Sugarloaf / Key West KOA to American Shoal Lighthouse - Snorkeling & Swimming Boston Terrier

On the water - 2/3/2023 -Take a ride with us out to the American Shoal Lighthouse from the Sugarloaf/Key West KOA Campground. We only had a limited amount of time on the water this particular day, but we made the best of it. This was Georgia's first time coming out on the boat with us and she loved it!
We started the ride off by spotting a huge sea turtle (didn't get this on film) and then saw several pods of dolphins. Once out at the lighthouse, Jeff and Evelyn were the first ones in the water and were swimming for a short time with either a nurse shark or lemon shark under them (they still debate which). Unfortunately, as soon as I threw the GoPro the battery died. We are so bummed! From there we had a short snorkel and swim time before we headed back in. Other than the shark, we saw many jellyfish and some small fish on the bottom.
Georgia loved the water and we only had to throw her in twice before she started jumping in on her own. Check out the underwater dog swimming footage Evelyn captured. And, yes, starting at around 3:08 in the video, that is Georgia voicing her excitement to get in the water. She loves swimming!
Evelyn also took and passed the Online Boating Safety Course in order legally captain the boat on the way back in. Florida law requires anyone born after 1/1/1988 to successfully complete this course to operate the boat we were on.
