If the Sharks do get a Winter classic game one of the stadiums they could use is Cal golden bears stadium for it to happen they will have to either play Vegas Anaheim Seattle Colorado or los Angeles but i would love to see the sharks play the golden knights
No, they really don't. Half of the league has been in a WC, and there are still three teams that haven't been in ANY outdoor game. The only way the Sharks are getting into an outdoor game in the next few seasons is if they somehow get good and there's another Tahoe situation of having multiple matches in one venue.
I think the Sharks deserve a shot at the Winter Classic, and that every team does. Kraken have been looking good, Vegas won the cup. It was a good choice for this season, and I think the Kraken were the most marketable team to pitch against Vegas for the WC. As a fellow sharks fan, your takes on the Sharks' popularity and recognizability is super overblown. They're pretty recognizeable, but many other teams in the league are more recognizable. The Original Six, to name, well, six. And, just in California, the Kings are probably more recongizable, and the Ducks are definitely more recognizable thanks to their Disney ancestry. Which unfortunately makes the Sharks number 3 out of 3 just in their home state. I've grown up in the Bay Area as a Sharks fan, learned to skate and play hockey at Sharks Ice, and played at the Tank, so yes, I'm a Sharks fan.
That fake throwback jersey was a joke. Vegas has no history to merit a fauxback uniform. It's just as fake as that Dallas Stars Winter classic jersey that also had those tiny shoulder yokes like the Knights.
@@keldera They were handed the Cup by Gary Bettman (who desperately wanted a desert team to win a Cup since his Coyotes failed miserably) and the NHL by rigging the expansion draft and fleecing the Sabres to get a crybaby out of Buffalo and stacking their team by ripping off teams like L.A. and Ottawa.
When they get good again...They're not gonna spend all this money to showcase a bottom feeder My team (CBJ) still hasn't had a winter classic because they've never been a great team Hopefully soon though when all these prospects get seasoned in the NHL (same with the sharks)
I dont understand how you can think a team that is dead last in the league in a California market deserves prime time spotlight. I get that youre a Sharks fan but in no world does that make any sense. That said, id be all for a Sunshine State exclusive with the Sharks, Ducks, Kings and prob Kraken.
@@marcd.6672 I acknowledged that after the opening title, "showcasing the league's best, etc .." Just making a case for the Sharks to be considered moving forward.. hopefully they can put a record up to support the bid.
@@sharkcityhockey As big of a Sharks fan as I am, I don't want to see Sharks in the WC until.. 2027? Maybe 2028. Haven't Red Wings spent like... 8 years on their rebuild, and they're still 20th in the league? I will admit that I was as pleased as I was surprised to see the Kraken (22/32) shut out the f***ing Knights (6/32), but I felt that both teams at least looked good. Watching the Sharks flail in shallow water as they have this season, during one of the most exciting games of the year, just doesn't seem good for Sharks fans -- nevermind the entire league fandom. I agree, too, that the Sharks have had some inredible comeback games this season, but at this point it feels as though that was more about luck than it was skill. A second loooooooong loss streak is indicitive of that. Until we look like a team and stop literally passing the puck to opposing players, I just want to think about potential draft picks and trades to help us be more of a contending team.
San Jose Sharks played LA Kings at Levi Stadium in 2015 Winter Classic. So its been done before. And from what I heard from people that went, it wasn't that great. Too big of a stadium and the rink was too far away from fans.
I was at that SS game, and having gone to the WC in Seattle I can confirm football stadiums 100% suck as a hockey venue. At the same time, it's only partially about the game, it's also about the atmosphere.

If they do. I’m going to that game 10000% no doubt about it
Unfortunately they’d need to be a contender again, or at least marketable, which rn the team isn’t
